So, what will YOU be doing while not being in Rantoul this year??
tearseyes replied to piisfish's topic in The Bonfire
I will be working on my A. Can't wait to get off of student status. -
Well i have to say hands down that Moss Point has the best bathrooms in the world. Always neat and clean and u never have to bring your own towels or anything. The people are really friendly and always willing to give good skydiving advice My home dz on the other hand would really be considered small and that would be New Orleans Skydiving Center. We usually have a 182 on the weekends. The people are really cool and fun to party with.

Low Time Jump Pilots HEED MY WORDS
tearseyes replied to diverdriver's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
Thanks for posting that. I know DZO's and jumpers that egg pilots on and it really bugs me. It is your life at stake. One weekend a pilot left because it was cloudy with really no holes and they were trying to get him to fly. He told them it wasn't worth losing his licnesce for. I was like good for him. -
I am a psyc major and going for my masters as soon as i graduate. I refuse to do the credit card thing because i will have enough debt with student loans. I had to laugh when a friend of mine told me to be come a stripper....

More gear training for students?
tearseyes replied to damion75's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
Well I did my ground school about 3 months ago and I had to learn how the three ring system works. Like someone else said to get you A you have to know how to pack and give someone else a gear check as well as learn how to change a closing loop. I think they are doing a great job at my DZ with teaching us about our gear. The instuctor makes us do our own gear check before we jump and he goes over our gear as well. Just as a personal note I think if someone really wanted to know about thier gear and how it worked they should just talk to a rigger or someone that has knowledge of gear. -
Thanks you guys for all the suggestions. My drop zone does have the bring tandems and get a free jump. So I am going to try that and we wanted to get a club togther at my university. It is a long process to do, but I am sure it will be worth it. Thanks again!!!

I am out at the dropzone every weekend learning everything I can. I was thinking about learning to pack and maybe that would help out.

I am sure quite a few people have had or are having the same problem as me. I am a college student barely making ends meet with. I started AFF, but it has been 2 months since my last jump because money is so tight. Can anyone give me some advice on how you managed to get it done? Thanks a bunch Jana

Hi! AFF or Tandem for the 1st Time??
tearseyes replied to KP2403's topic in Introductions and Greets
I agree with everyone. I did a tandem to start out with and almost passed out in freefall cause i couldn't catch my breathe. I was so feaked out about it. I knew that i had to over come it and did my other 2 perfect and my first student jump was flawless except the landing. (runways are not good) anyways a tandem is a great way to just relax and enjoy it and take it all in. -
malorie......luv ya chick!!! we going to have to travel togther once i graduate..lol hopefully that will be sooner rather than later.....

ok well i currently have the same instructor that darminion did and i have to say that canopy skills was the least of his worries when it came to ground school and instruction. I am not trying to rag on my instructor b/c if it weren't for him i wouldn't be jumping at all. I am just saying that even after 3 tandem jumps the radio on level one comes in handy. I was fine until the wind changed while i was under canopy on level 1 and the landing pattern that i was told to do was no longer the landing pattern for those wind conditions and i ended up landing really hard into the runway. I think that if my instructor would have been in the student landing area i wouldn't have even been near the runway.

Well I can't go anywhere without stopping at the local coffee house to get my peppermint mocha. I can't go a day without one cup of coffee atleast but i have been known to drink more, but i don't think i could drink as much as some of you guys.
-
Well I agree with everyone with the tandem thing. I really went into jumping with a very optomistic attitude and when i get in freefall i totally freaked out. It is a totally different experience than you have ever had in your life. I plan on doing it again though. Good luck let us know how it goes.

well i will say this i pissed away high school and i'm 23 making minium wage with a crappy car that needs a ton of work but i can't afford to pay for it. I had the chance to go to college and screwed that up by flunkin out. I live with my parents on the couch b/c we have no room for me...Listen to your dad and get school done the sooner the better and get a real job that u are going to like cause in this world money is starting to be a big deal and u can't get by without it. Your dad is smart listen to him.

oh man u missed a good episode. The family made it to the wedding and they made it through the whole thing even the protest part, but when it got to the I do's he (steve) refused to say i do and blew the whole wedding. The end was him telling her he was an actor and the family ended up with half a million and so did she. It was good. The bachlorette did surprise me. I would have picked mathew he was amazing and sexy.

All my life I was pushed into believing the way of catholic life. Four years ago i met a guy who opened my eyes and made me realize that life isn't about religion or going to church. It is about believing in urself, knowing urself, and trusting urself. I always brought up this point and maybe someone can help me out with this one. If God is supposed to be all knowing and all forgiving then why do i have to go to a priest and tell him what I did wrong if he knows already. As far as the movie i don't think i am going to see it. We will never know what really happend that day cause we weren't there. That is something that we have to decide on our own and no movie should make us try to believe what they think happend. And for u people with no faith never let anyone try to make u believe otherwise. Believe what u want and stay true to it.
