^I'm sure that there will be alot to learn from the Gus Wing incident. My uncle in DeLand had known both Gus and the Pilot for over a decade, and he was on the scene as it happened. I've only started leafing through the threads on the incident, so i don't know who was in the wrong or exactly what the situation was. Either way the community has lost one hell of a skydiver/BASE jumper. BSBD I'm glad that the weekend at CSS went smoothly. Those were some pretty scary tandem landings. Lets all hope for better weather this coming weekend for the Rape Awareness tandemonium. Here are some pics of Peter and Akos in action The weather was really nice yesterday above the clouds. Reasons for wearing altimeter on leg strap?
eUrNiCc replied to freeflyfree's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
I've also known some people to mount them on a mudflap. Does anyone have a source for the "wedge" or any other little triangular device for mounting an alti on your harness? Egad, A BASE life defiles a bad age. -
I had the same problem recently. A little hole tore in the membrane, hence forming a vacuum and filling the switch itself with spit. I also had the problem where it would work fine for the first half of the jump and about half way through it would fire continuous. I believe that happened because after the first 10 shots, the inside switch was so saturated with spit that it shorted the circut. After a few minutes it'll dry out and start working normally again. My solution was to let it dry out, test it attached to the camera to assure it was working properly, then sealing it again by dipping it in "Liquid Electrical Tape" (about $5 at home depot). It's been working fine ever since. (**WARNING: There is a "do not ingest" warning on the label for this stuff. It may not be the healthiest substance to seal up a bite switch with. Please don't sue me.) Egad, A BASE life defiles a bad age.

Can we move the 4 way landing area to the beach too? Egad, A BASE life defiles a bad age. -
Woohoo! Sunday was super! I got to break in the new D-rebel & do some cool jumps & canopy exercises with the rest of the Canopy Control students. We've got to get Scott to come around more often, I think we all got alot out of his course. I'll try to upload some of the pictures to shutterfly as soon as i can find a card reader here at school. Hola from the Canopy Course. It's 11 and so far we haven't done any jumps yet as it's damn windy. So far the instruction has been very in depth. Yeehaw! Egad, A BASE life defiles a bad age.

^hey Dawn, I hope you had a good visit with your sis. She seemed pretty cool The only person that I talked to that went to the show was Guido. I'm stuck at school working on stuff, and Marion is hoarding some extra hours at work so she can take friday off for the Canopy Course. About the Jedei's, I put my Veng back in my rig b/c the jedei was opening like ass (snivel snivel snivel WHAP! = probably not the best choice for camera jumps), and I want to use the veng for the canopy control course (maybe not the intentional stall's though ) The jedei however is a pretty nifty canopy (read: elliptical as fuck) that commands some pretty serious respect. You'll have to tell me the hangar banger story sometime Egad, A BASE life defiles a bad age.

I pack a Vengeance 120 (airlocked), into an NJ, sized for an airlocked 107 or conventional 120. it fits, but it's pretty tight, and it can be a pain to pack on cold, dry days. Egad, A BASE life defiles a bad age.

Non chin cup, low profile camera helmets??
eUrNiCc replied to weegegirl's topic in Photography and Video
^^ I second the Optic Illusion. I've been very happy with mine. it gives you alot more mounting options than other "lower profile" helmets in the same price range. Egad, A BASE life defiles a bad age. -
^I cured the rocking in my stroboframe by putting down two little strips of metallic tape on the bottom surface of the plate that mounts to the camera. A fraction of a mm is all that you need to cut out the wobble. Egad, A BASE life defiles a bad age.

I've only just begun to tinker with my d-rebel, but the kit lens (zoomed all the way out) works decently well for most applications. i'm saving my pennies for a something wider though. Egad, A BASE life defiles a bad age.

I just bit the bullet and ordered my XT. Hopefully it'll get here by the weekend Egad, A BASE life defiles a bad age.

^^Yea... sorry about over-cooking that last swoop. I ended up hauling significantly more ass than ever before on that canopy. BEEEEER! On a VERY happy note, there's a black-body Digital Rebel XT in the mail oooooohhhhhh *drool* The awesome pics will be forthcoming I hope everyone else is as excited about the Scott Miller camp this weekend as I am. Woohoo for new and improved canopy skills!

About a year ago my dad had a nosebleed (no, not a broken nose, just a random nosebleed) that required a $9000 emergency room visit... seriously. Egad, A BASE life defiles a bad age.

I *Think* that auburn has a skydiving club... or at least they used to. I had a friend there a few years ago for business aviation who knew a few club jumpers. Egad, A BASE life defiles a bad age.
