  1. The Neos is going to be marketed towards professional skydivers. People who do a lot of jumps in a day. AFF instructors, video people, team training. Someone who wants a high performance canopy that is very fast and fun to fly, but opens perfectly and does not come with some of the baggage that other cross-braced ellipticals have. It is not limited to these jumpers by any means. I have done swoops on my 104 that have riviled my VX, but it is not meant to replace or compete with the top of the line canopies. It's more for someone who wants to go killer fast and swoop, but doesn't care if someone else goes a few feet further than them. The Neos is by far the most fun canopy I have ever jumped. The openings are unparalleled, the flight is super smoothe, and it is killer fast. Is there a direct niche for this canopy? I'm not sure yet. It's an amazing canopy that I think a lot of people are really going to like. Give one a shot and see for yourself. and... If you weren't aware, I am affiliated with Icarus. But if anyone wants to ask me ay questions, I will do my best to give you my unbiased answer. Johnny --"This ain't no book club, we're all gonna die!" Mike Rome
  2. These, I was told by Bill, will not lose their magneism. They are rare earth magnets, not metal ones. They are basically powder held together by epoxy and are said to hold their magnetic power for the life of the magnet. Johnny --"This ain't no book club, we're all gonna die!" Mike Rome
  3. Actually there is going to be a retrofit available for sigmas. Johnny --"This ain't no book club, we're all gonna die!" Mike Rome
  4. Here is what i remember. Icarus launched the Neos. (I know, cause I was hokking it all week!) Cimsa introduced a very cool very small tracking unit for main canopies. Very cool. Bill at UPT had some cool stuff, the new ripcord, retrofit magnetic covers for the Sigma riser and main pin covers. He also showed me the safety strap on th Sigma passenger harness he was thinking of using should the FAA say so. SunPath introduced the skyhook on the odyssey, along with new reserve flaps and riser covers to accept the velcroless on the right and collins lanyard. Also a new padded backpad with a custom logo imprinted in the middle of the back if you want one. PD launched the low bulk reserve (Optimum) up to the 143. Thats all i really had time to look at. Didn't notice much else. Johnny --"This ain't no book club, we're all gonna die!" Mike Rome
  5. Sorry for the delay, just got back from the symposium. In your post, you said why not have a fully braced canopy were the load could be better distrubited. How do you know that is better? Also the GLS was the name Jim originally called the canopy he jumed at nationals a few years back. An early protoyype of the Neos. Now he calls another canopy the GLX. How is the technology in the Neos old, anyway? What other canopies on the market have ram air stabalizers or ARC bracing? How about openings that I have not personally seen go off heading yet? The Neos is not the end all swooping machine. But it is an amazing canopy that will do some amazing things for pilots. Jump whatever canopy you like and buy whatever canopy you like. But don't say something is old technology because the R and D has been going on for a few years. The Neos has technology that no one has used before. 6. Im sorry, were you at the wind tunnel testing in Germany where they were testing where canopies benefieted from bracing and where it didn't do much? And just because the prototype started a few years ago, does not mean it is still the same canopy. And I also personally remember Jim telling me the 9 cell prototype (which he alone monikered the GLX) was the fastest and most fun canopy he had ever flown. And heading stability is how Icaurs is keeping the openings so completely under control and on heading in their new canopies. Johnny --"This ain't no book club, we're all gonna die!" Mike Rome
  7. I just watched that earlier today. Who would want to marry that? He deserves what he gets. Johnny --"This ain't no book club, we're all gonna die!" Mike Rome
  8. not gonna lie, getting a creepy vibe. Johnny --"This ain't no book club, we're all gonna die!" Mike Rome
  9. Chapstick commercial, enlighten me you marketing whiz!? Johnny --"This ain't no book club, we're all gonna die!" Mike Rome
  10. I like how the video guy just stayed right over the dude with the open container waiting for a pilot chute in the face. And then how he flew in to try to get his ringsight tangled in the mess. Awesome. Johnny --"This ain't no book club, we're all gonna die!" Mike Rome
  11. I think Infinity is the best rig out there. As far as canopies, I am partial to Icarus, but i do work for them. I would suggest you demo as many different types as you can. Make your own decissions. But stick with lightly loaded and mid range performance. Johnny --"This ain't no book club, we're all gonna die!" Mike Rome
  12. Well you can get a smaller set up, but you might not be ok for a long time if you pound in. Go for a reasonable size to start. Everyone thinks they can get to just the right size to keep a rig for like 20 years. Get the proper size for you now, not you in a hundred jumps. If you weigh 140 dry, I would suggest a rig that holds a 170 on the top end, and staying with your 189 until you get it. That is depending on your skill and comfort level (go with an outside opinion on this, cause every eager jumper says they feel "fine". ) If you somehow get to a canopy safely that wont fit in your rig in the next few years, you sell the rig and get another. No big deal. But turning your femurs into powder is. Johnny --"This ain't no book club, we're all gonna die!" Mike Rome
  13. if you have a helper, I was recently showed a good trick. Have them hold the tail and just pull the nose tight and look inside. You can see all the way to the tail and get a good look at the top and bottom skins of each cell in one shot. Johnny --"This ain't no book club, we're all gonna die!" Mike Rome
  14. the control option apple 8 thing is cool. Had my PB for 3 years now and never saw that. Dont forget shift apple 3 and shift apple 4 for screen grabs. I set up expose in hot corners of the screen. I also have an app called side track to set up corners of my trackpad to be control and apple clicks. 15. Go check out Puck Fair on Thursday nights. It's on the southwest corner of Houston and Lafayette. Go downstairs and see Pauli. As far as riggers, I rig for the ranch pro shop, but i live about an hour and change north of the city, by the ranch. you should come out this weekend. Johnny --"This ain't no book club, we're all gonna die!" Mike Rome
  16. I love my girls. Johnny --"This ain't no book club, we're all gonna die!" Mike Rome
  17. Whenever I am at a boogie I have always required people to have the proper jump numbers before letting them try specific canopies. I know there is a demo form to fill out before you can demo one fron us also. How many jumps did you have at the time and who did you speak to? Johnny --"This ain't no book club, we're all gonna die!" Mike Rome
  18. Who did you call that never called you back? And SD as you put it is not very informative either. Johnny --"This ain't no book club, we're all gonna die!" Mike Rome
  19. I believe everything is going to be launched at PIA. The smallest I have personally jumped is 119. I believe they are going to have down to 99, but that is just what I have heard. Johnny --"This ain't no book club, we're all gonna die!" Mike Rome
  20. I am not at liberty to go over all the details, cause I am not involved in those parts. I am sure everything will be made abundently clear soon enough. Johnny --"This ain't no book club, we're all gonna die!" Mike Rome
  21. Jyro owns new zealand aerosports. He designed the original VX. He has chosen to release a newer version of the VX under his own company. I have to seen or heard anything about this 9 cell canopy from new zealand aerosports. Johnny --"This ain't no book club, we're all gonna die!" Mike Rome
  22. There was a big slump after the crossifre bullitens. After that Wyat took over the US end of service and support. We have a great team of people working in the US that are really doing great things. 95% of the canopies are built in Spain now, and that facility is amazing. The quality of the products are second to none. It took time to build ip steam (and customer confidence) but things are going awesome. We are now able to put time and effort into new and exciting projects like the Neos, the Icarus Reserve, and more projects that will be coming soon!! As has been stated before Daedalous is not affiliated with Icarus Canopies. Johnny --"This ain't no book club, we're all gonna die!" Mike Rome
  23. Many people over the past year ordered custom canopies and got them well under the time quoted by other companies. Icarus is selling more canopies now than they ever have in their history. Ask people who have bought canopies in the past 2 or 3 years and you will see an overwhelming amount of people are very pleased with how they are treated and the service. I am sorry if you have not been pleased in the past, but Icarus (myself included) is always trying to improve its relationship with its customers. Johnny --"This ain't no book club, we're all gonna die!" Mike Rome
  24. Get a rig that fits you and a bungee for the leg straps. Falling out of harnesses comes from improper adjustment, and/or body types that might not fit the proper criteria for skydiving. Get a rig that fits, you won't fall out. Johnny --"This ain't no book club, we're all gonna die!" Mike Rome
  25. Sonic from the Ranch is Muslim and Jewish. And he's married to a Catholic! As far as I know he'll jump circles around most, he just won't win a pig eating contest. He'll win almost every other eating contest, though! Zing!! Ho Shop Hooooooo! Johnny --"This ain't no book club, we're all gonna die!" Mike Rome
