When we all live off the land out in the hills with no modern conveniences it can go back to being this way. Until then...we have to use the resources that are available to us. --------------- The fact is that the circle will close...if we are not an active participant in that circle when it does, the human race will be no more. I am convinced that we have already removed ourselves from the cycle, so the question that remains is exactly when it will all end. The more we adopt the attitude that eating up natural resources is just necessary, and the quicker we do so, the sooner the Earth is going to chew us up and spit us out. It won't happen anytime soon, but the concern is not for us, it is for our future...people don't fight and die in wars for their sakes, but for the sakes of the citizens who reap the benefits of their efforts. We have talked recently about the United States policing the world, and seems to me that humans are doing the same thing with nature. Trees are supposed to die. And what the hell happens to the tree anyway? Either way it's going to die, either we cut it down, or it dies after growing into an ecosystem, falls down, and continues to play its natural roll. Ever heard of the circle of life? If the timber had been managed properly we wouldn't be having these problems. --------------- That's the thing...who is it a problem for? Don't think the tree cares much, and the Weevles (sp?) would probably prefer that the tree be there...it's not a problem for them. very true. I see where they are coming from, but what is sad is: A) This is not for the sake of the forest, it is for the sake of the people...we are getting to the point where we cannot allow nature to take its course in much of anything anymore. B) The situation was brought on by us in the first place...so now, there is too much folliage, then we will clear it and find that we cleared too much, something else will be going extinct, so we will stop doing that, then we will have too much folliage again...it's like learning headdown and going back and forth and back and forth...we're bound to hit the ground sometime soon, cause we should have pulled a long time ago. -S _____________ I'm not conceited...I'm just realistic about my awesomeness...

Ok, here's a random question... We know that approval ratings shoot through the roof when we go to war, and afterwards, a lot of times, they aren't so high... If we are really going to attack, it's probably something that would be kept a little more secret, than to announce it to the entire world, wouldn't it? Sure, stuff leaks, but this is pretty wide-spread. So, 2 questions: A) Could this be a complete and total rumor? B) Could this be a way that Bush and the administration are trying to maintain their approval ratings in the aftermath of 9/11? Afterall, they are pretty much done with the real activity that would directly effect public opinion...most of the rest of the 9/11 aftermath is going to be on paper and out of our view. Might they need something public? And if the ratings are good during the war, and bad afterwards, then why not just be poised for one? That's a way that you don't spend billions, you don't lose massive numbers of trooops, you don't actually offend anyone, cause you aren't really attacking, but you still look like a tough guy. I'm not saying it's true, and not trying to spout conspiracy theory, but it kinda sorta makes some sense...any thought? -S _____________ I'm not conceited...I'm just realistic about my awesomeness...

I think we did pretty good...4 days, 160 some posts, and some pretty serious discussion. I maintain my vote that "Aren't they all better off???" was a good thread. You didn't let him win...the game isn't over. I would go to his superior and explain the situation. Don't get discouraged...there are lots of people who you can get your instruction from...he can't take your hours away, having to get out of there and continue your training somewhere else, while frustrating, should not really hold you back any...if he has it out for you, it's probably better anyway. You are welcome to your opinion...up to this point, regardless of how contraversial the topic has been, the discussion has remained peaceful as the topic moved from one subject to the next. I don't know if you had a point other than just attacking, but if you did, I missed it, as I imagine everyone else did as well.
