  1. Believe it or not try changing the tape. My TRV 30 did it last weekend. Tried a few things and ended up changing tape and problem went away. But I am shopping around for a new camera now
  2. here is something that worked for me... When making the first fold keep the lines tightly wrapped with the tail and slide the whole flattened canopy towards the container. This will give you alittle slack in the lines between the canopy and the container. Then complete the folds on the canopy. Take the canopy and carefully pick it up keeping it under control and place it on the flap of the bag. Now just slide it into the mouth of the bag. I found this easier because when I tried to slide the corner of the bag around the canopy I would lose control of the other side of the canopy. Don't know if this makes sense... it is hard to describe... But it has helped me and quite a few others.
  3. I'd like to hear some details on "intentionally took a rig without a cypress on a particular jump" If you could?
  4. On your off days (when not working, that is ) take time to go learn to freefly. Ths is a skill you'll need when drougeless freefall happens with your tandems and a skill that will take you far in the years to come.
  5. Yeah it works. Plan on losing a bit of length though(1/2 to 3/4 of an inch) so be sure to compensate.
  6. Email L & B and they will send you one. It usually takes a couple days, and comes straight from Denmark. Excellent customer service!
  7. The same one you jumped all day before the night jump...
  8. Here are a couple from a recent 4-Way scrambles. Photos courtesy of Eddy Ardonne
  9. And why are you being required to stall your canopy??? Fatality at chicagoland(hinkley, Il) was caused by this..
  10. That is what the little piece of velcro is on your bridle...mate this velcro to the peice under the main pin flap and you will not have a problem...It assures you have enough slack for the pin to be pulled
  11. I once turned to track awaqy form a 12 way at 4500 and there was a c-130 right in front of me. (no more than a mile away) Not fun! We also had a airforce refueling jet fly directly down the runway at about 1500 feet.
  12. Don't tighten down the covers over the ratchets...well not gorilla tight...snug is all you need. The ratchets hold the helmet closed not the cover bolt. Give it a try. I seem to remember reading that somewhere. 600 jumps with an oxygen and it has happened only 2 times sitting both times. Not counting the numerous times I left the airplane with the visor open. Never have lost the lens though. At Quincy a few years ago I was on a load with Chris Needles from USPA and he lost his on exit . He didn't have the ratchets in the right way.
  13. How did you mount your site? Just wondering.
  14. The first thing I did was get rid of that L bracket. In my opinion it was a snag hazzard, my site would breakaway but that L bracket won't. Just my thoughts. I made a flat plate for the top of the helmet (aluminum, I made mine out of 1/4" clear Lexan so you can see through the the plate. the lexan was the same weight as a thin gage piece of aluminum). Six bolts hold it to the top. Video on top, stills cam upside down on the front. Just have the plate extend past the helmet far enough to bolt the still cam on (Mine only sticks out 1.5"). I will try to get some pics on here. Don't have digital stills yet. Still shooting film It all works well.
  15. Go with the Brent Finley sight. Bent uses glass in his, it doesnt scratch as easily. (just wipe with a t shirt or your lens cloth ) I think L and B use a plastic that is easier to scratch. The blemmished sights from him are not even noticeable when shooting, only when looking through it from a distance. And you save some bucks. If money is no object, go with the concentric. I got the cross-sight, And it works well but the concetric is a bit better. E-mail him and he can get you prices
  16. I can guarantee that the instructors did not insist on him jumping in those conditions...rather it was probably him begging to be able to jump. This DZ is my home DZ and the safest in the area. I know of many students turned away on windy days here. We all know that conditions change on the ride to altitude, even on the way to 3500' for a static line jump... Please don't be so quick to blame the DZ. Also take into account that he only has 3 jumps!!! How much does he really know...about the actual conditions while he was in the air... yes he may have been backing up... but at a .76 wing loading he would back up in 14 mph winds. Sometime you give way to much credence to these low timers...take what they say with a grain of salt...they can tend to exaggerate...
  17. I am looking for an audio/video mixer to do some editing for tandems and fun RW. Not looking for anything too expensive just some thing that will allow me to edit in music and take out the wind noise. All my searches have turned up real expensive units with many more features than I need. Radio Shack used to carry one but they say they don't anymore. Your help is appreciated. Blueskies
  18. Price is no object. Looking for best quality video. (color and clarity) I would rather not buy something that is obsolete, as soon as i buy it. I know how hard that is though. What about the 3 chip cameras? Is weight a major isuue?? flyinfree
  19. Looking at trv.. It is going to be mounted on a flat top narrow...best quality camera is what i am looking for, and any knowledge of upcoming releases that may be better
  20. Just wondering what your opinions are on the best mini dv cam for skydiving that is out there. Getting ready to buy a new camera and just would like your input. blueskies flyinfree
