What skymonkey said. that friend was me and the guys at the skydiving school and skydive u want to have all the money to themselves. Said it was required that I go through skydive u to get my 3 rw jumps so I could get my A license. I asked around and found out it wasn't true. Talked to the load organizer and he did my rw jumps for free. There is nowhere in the USPA book that says you have to do your rw's with skydive u. Blue Skies! Sinister69 A-38927

Have fun Kay. When I was living in New Mexico back in '93, there was a country bar called the City Limits. This place had never had a live band perform there before. One night they booked a band called "Yukon Jack". Alot of people didn't show because they didn't care to see a live band. I went to see what it was all about. Guess who showed up? Garth Brooks! Come to find out that the band "Yukon Jack" was Garth's original band name when he started out. He was heading to LA to do the Tonight Show with Jay Leno and he wanted to play a small town club again. Needless to say after people found out and started calling friends the place was jam packed. well, this isn't landing out but I sure got a kick out of it since I was being pumped with drugs at the time. When I broke my leg at Perris and was laying on the grass with the paramedics and firefighters all around me, I looked up and obviously people were still jumping. I can hear the canopies opening and know exactly what is going on. Don't think the meds and firefighters knew though. Anyways, a load is coming down and I think just for the hell of it these guys want to mess with my "rescuers". They were coming in just like normal even though there is a firetruck and ambulance on the landing area. Skydivers landing right by us. The funny thing was watching the "rescuers" get the shit scared out of em because these guys are swooping in just above their heads. Watched this one firefighter that was working on me hear some noise and go "holy shit!" and start to duck for cover because someone swoooped right by him, was hilarious. Blue Skies! I will be going as a skydiver with a broken leg, seeing how that is what happened. Too bad I won't be able to jump yet though. I just bought me a javelin, hope to get a cypress soon and be ready to jump once my leg is all healed up. Blue Skies! Sinister69 A-38927

Hey Viking, Just ask her out, I'm sure she is interested. I just got a new girlfriend three weeks ago, I wasn't sure if she was interested or not. I have known her brother for about three years now (we used to work together and are still good friends). I didn't meet her until the beginning of this summer when she came home from college. Well anyways, I wasn't sure if she was interested or not so I didn't do too much about it. Then I broke my leg so I was spending more time with my bud (he's got two jumps under his belt now). I came to find out from him and his mom that in their own words "Katie wouldn't say no if you asked her out". So that gave me some courage. But I was still nervous about asking her out because I had a full leg cast on and couldn't do too much of anything. Well, couple of days before I asked her out I was talking with my father and saying I should ask her out, but didn't know what to do. Well, saturday rolls around and I get a call in the middle of the afternoon. I have caller ID so I thought it was my bud Kevin back for the weekend from the Navy. Lo and behold it's Katie on the phone!!!! She asks me how my leg is doing and stuff and we talk for a few minutes. Well we hang up and stupid me still didn't ask her out. She's obviously giving me a big hint. So I call back about an hour later wanting to ask her if she'd like to go to a movie, but the phone keeps ringing. No one home. I'm bummed. Sunday comes along and I call but she's not there. I get her cell phone number from her mom. Took some guts to ask for it but I did. I call her cell phone and she answers. Had a little bit of small talk but I finally ask if she would like to go to a movie with me and BOOOOM!!! Immediate yes, she would like that very much. And we have been seeing each other for three weeks now. She's great! only problem is that she is a die hard whuffo, but she has no problem with me jumping! I think eventually I could break her down so that she will jump, but I'm not going to try pushing that button too much. She thinks I'm crazy that I jump, but she said she would love to go to the DZ and watch me jump. We even went to the DZ this weekend so that I could buy some gear. And another good thing is that she has a degree in athletics and physical therapy, and is currently studying to be a nurse, she wants her specialty to be orthopedics (bones). This is great for me because she says she's going to help me out with my physical therapy to get me back in the air as soon as possible. And with the other posts above about finding someone that makes you smile all the time??? Katie does that for me!!! It just feels good being around her. I think you did the right thing. I was taught that if you can't unstow the toggles on your main canopy, to cutaway and go for the reserve. At least this way you have a chance of getting a canopy that you can control more easily. Obviously if you have the same prob with reserve you have to land it with the rear risers, but on a main you get rid of it. That's just what I was taught though. Good job girl!!! Blue Skies! Went to Square One today and bought me a rig. It's a used javelin j4 and a raven II reserve. Sad thing is I won't be able to jump until my leg heals up. Good thing is that gives me time to save up for a cypress and main canopy. Anyone know of anybody getting rid of a cypress that's not too old? I will probably demo a few of the canopies at square one once I get back in the air, so the main isn't too much of a problem. But I would like to get a cypress before then. man macauley, you love stirring up trouble don't you? You really need to chill out and like they said, show some compassion. Making light of a tragic situation so soon after the occurence is not a kosher thing to do. Give some time for the healing to take place then make your jokes. okay, I have everyone beat. I haven't jumped in over 6 weeks!!!! probably won't be able to jump for at least another 6 - 8 months or so. Went to the doctor yesterday, expecting to get a half cast on my leg, but nooooooo. They took the other cast off and my bones hadn't even started knitting together yet. My foot was still flopping around as if it was just a couple minutes after it broke. I'm still in a full leg cast and looks like I will be this way for quite a long time. I am so jealous of all of you. I went to the doctor today expecting to get a smaller cast on, but noooooo, I get about the same size cast for another six weeks or so. Thank God it's alot lighter this time though. Well, I will be seeing you guys whenever I get a chance to go out and watch. congrats michele!!! I knew you could do it!!! And for everyone's info: I get this huge cast off on Tuesday, only to get another cast on. I will probably find out also if I am going to need surgery for skin grafts. My doctor said my skin was pretty fucked up, that's why they didn't do open surgery on the break when it happened. The bone almost went through the skin, causing damage to it, therefore not being able to cut it because it wouldn't have healed and coulda caused an infection.
