Hello, my name is Nelson, and I am an altiholic. I want to do what Clubber has done, but alas I screwed up on my last jump and broke my poor little leg. Right now I am going through the DT's because I have not had any altitude for 2 weeks. I am going to be in horrible shape for a long time because I won't be able to get any altitude for at least another 4 or 5 months. I really need the support of all of you out there. I have been able to go to the DZ to see my friends, and will continue to do so, but will remain envious of everyone I see floating to the ground. Is there anyone out there that can help me in my pain? Since I know the owner of the Perris DZ, I might ask her if I could at least take some rides in the copilot seat of the Otters once in a while. Michele, you will get your confidence. I was scared shitless on my first solo. You will like it and start getting used to your body position and the airflow and all that. don't try to do anything to crazy and just enjoy the ride. Try different exits also, try a diving exit, or a side exit like when you started AFF. but if you are going to do the floating exits again, just remember to let go with both hands at the same time!!!!! haha!! Okay, just got finished watching an episode of 60 Minutes II tonight. There was a story in it about a quadrapalegic suing some pool company because he broke his neck after jumping off a diving board into a pool. The thing is is that when the pool was designed and built, it didn't have a diving board on it. The diving board was added after the people had the pool installed. This quad sued the company and won!! Now I am wondering should I sue?? Let's see: I could start off by suing---- 1. Perris Airport-for allowing me to jump 2. The Pilot of the Plane for letting me ride to alt 3. Square One for renting me the gear 4. Sunpath for the rig I used 5. Performance Designs for the Spectre 190 that "didn't flare on time" Bet I could get millions from all these different people and companies I could sue. Damn, what is this country coming to? That stupid ass quad shoulda got nothing but the finger for being the idiot that didn't know how to dive into a freaking swimming pool. The damn pool company didn't make him jump into the pool, nobody forced him. It was his own actions that got himself hurt. What a fucking idiot. I know I broke my leg out at Perris. I knew the risks. I'm not going to sue anyone for my own actions. It was my fault I didn't flare on time. I can understand suing if you had some kind of equipment failure that was no fault of your own, but damn, what the fuck is up with these idiot sue happy shitheads and lawyers? I'm surprised there wasn't an ambulance chaser when I arrived at the hospital to get my leg worked on. Oh well, that's just my .02 cents worth. Thanks for listening Blue Skies! hey all, i don't have any hardware in me as of yet, but who knows i might need some later on. They did what is called a "closed reduction" whatever that is?? they didn't cut me open. just knocked me out and wiggled the bones around so they would go back in place. gonna see the doctor on thursday so i will keep you all posted on what's going on. thanks again. Hello all, I just wanted to thank everyone for the support they have shown. I especially want to thank Albatross and Michele for coming out to the hospital and waiting around with me. Sorry for aking alll the jump time away from you guys. As to what happened? The skydive went great. As I was coming in for my landing, I lined up perfectly. I started my flare too late and ended up getting my left foot underneath me. That's when I felt the bones snap. Anyways I am out of the hospital and spending time at my mom's house. Actually, it's not a requirement at Perris. The Perris school has a contract with skydive u to send their students there, so they say it is a requirement. Skydive U isn't part of the USPA. I did my 3 rw jumps with Jim Wallace (got mine for free, but he usually charges 65 dollars for the jumps) and with Marc Brown. He's a load organizer and AFF Jumpmaster. I also did my packing with Marc. I got lucky and didn't have to pay the extra money for all this. Luckily since I just got laid off. Anyway, to avoid the hassle of getting yelled at by Dennis and the others at the Perris school for not going through Skydive U, I took my A license test at the Jim Wallace school. Don't get me wrong, Skydive U is great, and I plan on going through it. Just didn't have the money to do it right now. I now have my A license and will be going through Skydive U very soon. (what I meant to say above is that skydive U isn't a requirement by the USPA, so you don't have to go through them.) Talk to people at the DZ and find out who is a RW coach. Most of the time you can just pay for their jump. But if you feel more comfortable going through Skydive U, by all means do it. Blue Skies! Hey all, went to elsisnore today with albatross (chris). We did three 2way jumps together, had alot of fun working on my turns, separation and all that. Woulda said hi to everyone that comes here but didn't know anyone. So I am saying hi now. Hey chris, thanks for the great time today. didn't expect to be jumping today. Hey all, got my A license today. 0:5:0 I needed three accuracy jumps which went great! I also needed an RW jump and packing. Did all those today, packed my own chute and jumped it! Wow that first time you pack you are praying you did a good job!!!!! Also got in 2 free jumps because I referred 2 people to the school. My last jump was great!! We attempted to do a 7 way with Marc Brown and others out there. We only got 6 but it was awesome!! It's so cool to be able to jump with other people. I will definitely be out there for the DZ.com record attempt!!! I am so stoked!!! I was landing perfect today. Knew exactly the right time to flare my canopy. Hope that keeps up for next weekend!!
