That is freaking hilarious! I went through the tandem progression / STP course (2 tandems, 18 jumps w/ 1 instructor) out at my DZ and had to ride the plane down on solo jump #7 or so because the winds had started gusting to 25mph. I completely thought the same thing! HAHA Some people ask "Why do you jump out of a perfectly good plane?" I just reply "It is the fastest way down!" That really just made me laugh, had to comment

Thanks to all of you. I did finish my flare and flew the canopy until the very end (until I had no choice!) The speed was not stopping. I had no more vertical speed though, I was just sailing right across the ground. Definetaly an eye opener for sure! Really got some good advice from all of you. THANKS!

Wowa. Thanks everyone. I honestly did not know I was doing it. Ron, honestly....most people would say my track is above my current experience level after seeing the video. One even said "are you moving too" to the other person on the jump, and they looked at each other and he replied "no, she's hauling ass". No wonder I've been getting wacked so much! THANK YOU ALL SOOOOO MUCH!

I watched a coach jump I did the other day on video and and it was brought to my attention that I am not slowing down all the way before I pitch. I obviously did not know I was doing this. Is it unsafe to pitch in a 'semi-fast' track? I am jumping a Sabre 170.

DownWind Landings - PLF or Slide In?
Amanduh replied to Amanduh's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
N/A -
I was trained to PLF. I am just curious because just the other day I was coming in to land, and then for no reason at all I somehow managed to think I was landing the wrong direction and did a braked turn 180 degrees back around and landed downwind (in 10 mph). I was able to stand it up, but later others asked if I had PLF'ed? I told them no, I was able to stand it up (I'm wingloading right at 1.15) I had to run it out like crazy, but a few others said maybe next time just try to slide in on my butt instead. I'm just curious as to what most of you think is the best way to handle this situation IF you happen to find yourself in it. (I will state this: I do NOT know what or why I thought I was landing wrong in the first place. Not until after I turned around and the winds picked back up and started gusting a little did I realize how fast I was hauling ass across the ground. I had been watching other canopy's and there were some people doing hp landings, which could have confused me ?? I honestly don't know...

My 1st tandem was a learning experience. I got to wear an altimeter, and was instructed to lock on @ 7000, taught to wave off!, then got to pull the rip cord myself @ 6000. I even learned how to create turns (1 360 each way) using upper body. They instructed me on how to make sure the canopy was in good shape by showing how to perform a controllability check, and then they even let me participate in flying the canopy to our holding area, etc. AND help out with the landing. I don't think I would have been ready to go solo if it wasn't for the learning experiences I had on my 2 tandems.

Where are you flying into?

Deva by far. Badass flyer, and also a kick ass gal! Came up to me out of the blue at Skyfest and took me on a chicky tracking dive (Presecond tracking dive!). I had honestly gotten a little 'down' because of all the fun things going on that I didn't feel I could do because of my low jump numbers / experience. I was watching everyone do all these fun jumps, and jumping out of helicopters, etc, and I couldn't. Was a little depressing. SO yeah, I Just really appreciated her reaching out to a new comer whom she didn't know. I told her when she approached me that I would love to, but I only had 39 jumps and I had never been on a tracking dive. She said, "That's okay, we'll focus the jump on you." SHe gave me a few pointers in the packing room and I really learned a lot from her! Then myself, deva, & megster went on our sunset tracking dive. I just thought it was really amazing that someone whom didn't even know me would go jump with me knowing I couldn't do anything really advanced, and we still had an amazing time! THANKS AGAIN GIRL!

Because I don't WANT a f*cking 'B' license!!!
Amanduh replied to ACMESkydiver's topic in The Bonfire
I wished I had my b-license back at Skyfest so I could have jumped out of the helicopter!! The pilot asked that anyone whom jumped it have atleast a B. Oh well, next year!! -
Ok guys. Count me in on Friday around 5. I will be there. I wonder if Todd will let me sneak in the rig usage for 1 jump Friday instead of paying the full 25 for 1 rental, I'll pay to have it packed!!...hehehehehe TOODDDDDDDDD..oh sweeeeettttiiiieeeeeeee *KISSES* *HUGS* *FLUTTERS EYES*...is it working? HELLO HELLO!?!? HAHAHAH (ok, yeah, me officially sucking up)

HAHA Ok, Let me see what I can do about Friday. I have to work until 4pm...think you'll still be jumping around 5 or so? I work right in Waller, so I'm not sure how long it will take me to get there. OH MY GOSH, KRIS IT HAS ALREADY BEEN BROUGHT Count me in! And PIER, who are the 3? Me you and who else? TURTLE? I don't know turtle, but if he's slow as in "slow motion" then we might be in trouble! HAHA and LOL @ me coaching..goodness..I could use some help, i'm going to try to fly w/ my legs more ..I have my arms down flat (maybe a hair up but not much), but i'm still falling like a rocket! I think maybe kicking my feet out sideways..I'm gonna try it this weekend in prep! haha
