The Dates You Have Been Waiting For (SF06)

I have a call into manifest about the water training. I have not heard anything about it, and I know there was one this morning at 8:30. Manifest told me to call back in a few minutes and she'll find out...so I'll let you all know. -
Just my own personal opinion but this sounds like a very bad idea. Seriously, there are a lot of factors that you more than likely have not considered. Do you mind me asking what objects your 2 jumps were made from? Does the person who agreed to jump it with you, as long as you plan it all out, have any prior base jumps? If so, how many? Any tower jumps? Don't rush it dude, find someone experienced, the tower will be there..just make sure you are...aka - don't die.

What? Conway, I was just looking through my log book yesterday and saw that I needed to get you to sign it for your birthday jump we did together and my 200th..thank you again for making my 200th jump so special..it was a blast... even if it was on my belly . You had become a good friend to me....this comes to me as such a shock...I will miss our shot nights at the Tavern when no one else showed up. I could always count on you to be there with me til the wee hours. Fly free forever...I will miss you.. I feel that everyone has their own reasons for base jumping. For me, I continuously wonder why i base jump. While others are at home with their family, playing on the computer, going out with friends to clubs, etc...I'm sneaking around during the wee hours of the night, jumping fences, sweating to get to exit and putting my life on the line, knowing I have to wake up for work in 4 hours...and then I question myself : why the hell am I doing this? But... at the exact moment my feet begin to leave an exit point and I know there is no turning back... in that moment, I truely understand why I BASE jump. And that feeling/understanding, is something I cannot explain in words to anyone even if I tried. It is all for me. It is my heaven.

*If you find yourself looking around and feeling as if you are the only one going hand held, it's okay. For a while I felt like a huge puss and actually considered going stowed..but then thought "why? I'm not doing aerials, it's not sketchy getting to exit, there is no reason" and stuck with hand held. 5.8sec is not a lot of time. *BASE 'boogies' are way out of my league at my current experience level and take away a lot of the emotions I usually experience on a base jump and add a lot of un-needed pressure. *Don't listen when people say "oh, but it's JUST a bridge". *How seroius 2+ ways actually are...Every detail of the jump must be thoroughly discussed/planned/stuck to - exit, pitch, etc. If not, serious incidents or unintentional crew are likely to occur. Okay, newb running back to corner.. Amanda

I sit here not knowing what to say....as Bob said...she was truely happy. She had a perma-smile all weekend. When I saw her Saturday morning walking up in the parking lot with her gear, I called out her name. She looked over at me and her jaw dropped. We hadn't seen each other since Dublin '05...She ran up to me and gave me the biggest hug ever...and didn't let go for the longest. Shannon touched so many people and I am happy I was able to spend these past few days with her. It had been way too long..... Bob, please know that you are in our thoughts here in Houston...I am so, so sorry for your loss. I will miss you, Shannon. Amanda
