Royal .2, Optica .3 and Raynox .3 CX-100 Lens comparison
Cyrus79 replied to Cyrus79's topic in Photography and Video
Here's what the Optica lens looks like on the CX-100... -
We've been using LG models and found that they were the fastest at finalizing. I can't recall the model number, but the latest one we bought has the 160gb HD.

Quote I have the latest version of vlc fully updated on a 2.7 gig pc with 6 g of ram.Quote Is it a 2.7 dual core? if not, that could be your problem...the minimum you need to play HD video (well) is a dual core.

Royal .2, Optica .3 and Raynox .3 CX-100 Lens comparison
Cyrus79 replied to Cyrus79's topic in Photography and Video
The Optica is exactly 3" in diameter and ~ 1" thick. ...do I find it heavy? not really, it's about the same weight as the Raynox 0.3 -
Royal .2, Optica .3 and Raynox .3 CX-100 Lens comparison
Cyrus79 replied to Cyrus79's topic in Photography and Video
I like the Raynox best as far as quality...that said, the Optica is my choice lens for inside freefly jumps. It is, like you said, sharper than the Royal 0.2, and the price is right. >> "How do you have the Raynox setup? Do you have the 30-37mm step-up ring and then the 37mm-37mm adapter ring or just the 30-37mm?" -
Royal .2, Optica .3 and Raynox .3 CX-100 Lens comparison
Cyrus79 replied to Cyrus79's topic in Photography and Video
My Optica has just arrived! Although I realize this isn't the best way to compare them, here's a "quick" comparison of photos taken from the same position with these three lenses...I'm surprised at how close the Royal and the Optica are width wise. These were taken with my CX-100 -
I've tried my Royal .2 with my CX-100 and there's no vingetting at all...In fact I'm very happy with the (SD) results and will be using it for handcam.

0.3 Wide Anlge Lens Option (heard of opteka?)
Cyrus79 replied to beatcreation's topic in Photography and Video
Very interesting Blink, I don't see any difference in the still grabs... I am going to get me one of these Opteka lenses and report back with my findings -
At risk of going way off topic, I'm in agreement with ryhs on this one, seriously, no body's re-inventing the wheel here. There really is nothing hard about aiming your hand while doing a tandem after you've done hundreds, if not thousands...you're simply flying with your legs. We also offer both options, inside and outside video at our DZ, and both are the same price. We have customers who saw their friend's (handcam) video, and show up wanting the same. I agree, not everyone should be shooting handcam, as there are some awful examples out there...but if you're good at it, the excitment that is added to the video with the after openning expressions are priceless, not to mention the uncontrolable laughter from the student while performing a couple spirals up high.

The only difference between the CX-100 and my old pc101 is that there's no remote. I can do everything I used to using the touchscreen. I don't know what you mean about poor playback...it looks exactly the same to me, or should I say "comparable" (except now it's widescreen)
-
Hey Clint, I haven't bought a glove for it yet, but I plan to use my CX-100 for handcam...overkill? I think not...ability to shoot video AND stills in a much smaller package than any PC model The attached photo would be my version of overkill...

A few of my favorites that I can find at the moment...
-
You're right about one thing, the original makers of the Hawkeye are no longer in business, however, the helmet you're looking at is not a Hawkeye...a knock off at best.
-
I can't see how you have no movement inside the box, without foam on the LCD panel side, there has to be at least 1 cm of play...what is stopping your camera from moving to that side?
-
So I'm assuming you have a screw going through the top of your helmet+box and into the camera? Using a screw for side mount I can see, but for top mount, I would rather go with a quick release...
-
I too am having issues with Tonfly. I ordered 2 CX-100 enclosures. The box seems too flimsy, and doesn't close properly after applying the provided foam padding. If I remove enough padding so it closes properly, the camera easily shakes inside the box...in fact, I find it moves around when all the padding is in...might be due to the larger Raynox lens Regardless, I have since sent two emails to Giovanni without any reply. Here's a couple of photos I sent in my emails...maybe there's a better way to make it fit?? ...note the paint chips, this is a brand new box!

Any pictures of yourself while working ???

One of my favorites... -
Here's a couple shots of me exiting a tandem from a Sigma 10-20. I really like this lense and would buy it in a second if it wasn't so heavy. I'm currently still using the kit 18-55 canon, but am also looking to get a wider lense, without going too heavy.
-
Hey DSE, I am also seriously looking at this camera. My question is, does it have any of the digital effects and fader options that the older PC style cameras had?
-
The beeps (on the Optima)have nothing to do with how fast you're doing under canopy (not directly) as "Beowulf" stated, but rather how quickly you are aproaching your set altitude. I can easily get into brakes if I need to cover some ground if I'm short on where I want to initiate my swoop, and the beebs slow down. Keep in mind that this function was designed for "swoopers" Frankly, I think the Optima and the Viso are the best combination.

Hey Bunky, here's a shot of your second jump on opening...you don't look like you're having fun at all
-
I have about 350 jumps on a Samurai 105 and loved everything about it, the openings are quick yet comfortable at the same time (less altitude loss), and it swoops better than the Jedei. A friend of mine has a Vengence and, like previous posts, he hates the openings and finds it way too ground hungry... My 2 cents

I use Ulead Media Studio Pro 7 for editing, then author it with Adobe Encore DVD 1.5, works awsome. I've used Ulead DVD workshop with great results also, but I prefer Adobe Encore. I think your problem is with your external writer...

Very Cool...
