  1. Wow, what a place. Went to Deland thinking it was going to be flat teams only!! How wrong. Sure it is team heaven and lots of teams training, but there are also fun jumpers and a good freefly scene. We were there for freeflying and loved it. Run very professionally, there is a real feel that the people jumping there came to get better. Different to ZHills, but me and my mate came away very impressed indeed. Also great tunnel flyer coaches located there, and Orlando is only 50 mins away. We'll be back soon!
  2. Me and a mate visited just before Christmas, and as in my previous visits loved the place. It may not send the loads all day every day like Deland or Eloy, but the planes and DZ are great. Personally I don't mind jumping, packing, manifesting, relaxing etc.. as I don't normally set jump number goals for a day, so Z-Hills is perfect. Polite, friendly staff, and a wealth of information around. Freefly scene rocks, Colon truely is one of the best, and the locals are all very friendly. RW, Crew, Swooping scenes are also very active so what more could you want! This place rocks, check it out.
  3. Firstly, what a great DZ. The airport is not too busy, nice hangar for packing and the landing area is large. Jumping altitude is either 15'000 or 18'000!!!!! The 15'000 jumps are perfect and for only $19 or $18. They fly a King Air which does 15k in 6.5 minutes, and the 18k in 8 minutes, no BS!!!! The view is amazing, and there is a bunk house which is free if you do 5 or more jumps per day. Only thing that sucks is the Mon-Fir jumping is non-existant, but that probably adds to the character and is what the owners want. To summarise, not a major DZ, but really really good, just wish they did more loads mid-week.
  4. Quote***I'm going to have to go ahead and disagree with you here. Seems to me, the only people saying that the tunnel is a good tool for learning freefly are people trying to sell you coaching time in the tunnel and people who have just paid a lot of money for coaching time in the tunnel. *** By the way, I paid the normal $10 per minute rate, and a very small coaching fee for Fabien, which was so small when you consider what you're getting (Hint: $60 for 30 minutes). So its cheaper than a jump, no packing, an you can really see the results of your body movements, plus Fabien and Juliane are so positive. I haven't been on a tunnel camp but watched the professionalism of 2 or 3 camps, and all the participants looked very pleased. I am neither trying to sell coaching nor have just been on a camp and am a big big fan. Embrace the tunnel, another tool for all the Freaks out there!!
  5. The Skyventure tunnel rocks for freeflying!!! For safety reasons you have to demonstrate stability on the belly, then back before moving onto vertical work, but its all good. I had the pleasure of flying with Fabien and a mate and we loved it!! Sure the position is a little different, but flying slow with a baggy suit means you're going to be more efficient with your body and so can wear less drag for freeflying anyway. Its all learning, and for the lucky ones who have seen Fabien & Juliena, Rook, Swany etc... then you'll realise the potential impact of the tunnel for freeflying. All I can say is that it is very addictive, great for your skills, whatever position, and I can't wait to earn some more cash and get back out there. The tunnel rocks.
  6. So it seems alot of other people have the same idea!! Is there anyone who has worked or is working at Skyventure that would like to discuss how they got their jobs? I can't imagine jump numbers make that much difference. Thomas Hughes worked in Orlando when it first opened at 16 years of age, and is now on Sebastian XL 4-way. I think he had like 400 jumps when he got on the team. So if anyone else has any advice I would really like to hear.
  7. Does anyone know how you can apply / become a flight instructor at the Skyventure Windtunnels. Are there openings for the new Tunnels in Arizona, California or the UK?
  8. Here in the UK most camcorder shops state that it is not possible to get a a 0.45 wide angle lens for the IP5. However last week in Sebastian I met a lady with a IP5, an adapter and a 0.45 wide angle lens. Is this common practice in the US, where could I get the required adaptions and what other options do I have available to me with the IP-5?

Huffermoose, you really are a moose! What are you asking people to meet us for? Haven't you heard that internet relationships really don't work! And besides you're only good enough to jump solos, anyone who has jumped with Al will know what I'm talking about!!! You obviously are having some bad weather out in Empuria, so get back to the PS2 and I'll get back to my desk job. Only 9 days till we go Al!!!
  11. Not like Piers to wade on in there with some cutting comment is it old boy!!! By the way, any one see piers land now he's got his Stilletto?? How's it going with the Stilletto Piers?
  12. I agree with the 2 guys above. Coaching coaching coaching. It may cost to start with, but getting basics helps so much, and will help you in the long run. A good grounding and philosophy helped me loads, try to find the best jumpers / coaches you can. The guy who jumps for a ticket is helpful but not as much as someone who is pioneering the sport. Apart from that, tracking is a big help too. If you can track on your front, take it steep then on to your back then bring it back, you will feel the air on your front and then back which helped me. Needless to say be careful tracking, track 90 degrees to jump run axis! Good luck mate.
  13. Oh I forgot to say I agree with everything apart from the yank rubbish.Everyone knows there are some mad jumpers on the US side: Alaska, Flyboyz, John Matthews, Colon Berry, Rook, Omar and many many more
  14. That is the best call I've heard in a while. For all the people who haven't heard of BABYLON or FRICK then check them out. How about all the freestyle compulsories but in the Atmonauti angle!?!?!! Looks mad. PS Piers, still got you're Evolution video don't worry. Checked your profile and saw it was you!
  15. In the States I believe Alaska Jon is pretty much up there, where as in Europe, the BABYLON crew are well out there with some cutting edge stuff. They didn't compete this year at Vienna, but watch out in GAP next summer! If you can get him to jump, Marco Mana is awesome, and then there's Loic Albert.....
