This article, and the fact that I'm reading it, just goes to prove that it's always raining somewhere in the world. Since Cessna are produced in USA, we use feet/miles on aircraft instrumentation and flight calculations. However, we use metric units on our charts.

I did my initial training on Vector in 1999, then immediately converted to Racer. I have two Racers, one Vector and just took delivery of an Atom for demo purposes to the military. Racer is the most comfortable and gives a level attitude to the skydive. I train students using PFF system and it gives a good, natural feel to the skydive. We've tried a variety of canopies over the years. I'm stoked with the A2 340. The dropzone is 5000'AMSL and 30 degC in the shade and they handle the turbulence well. I've just tried the BT80 in the Atom and it works well too. The racer drogue gives a snap on opening that adds a few kinks to my 42 year old spine. I prefer the Vector drogue. I've had a few reserve rides over the years and the Racer Tandem always comes out straight and true. Rob-By Check it out at http://www.skydive.co.zw Clicky!

skydivezimbabwe replied to skydivezimbabwe's topic in Events & Places to Jump
Malawi's first sport dropzone opens at Club Makokola on the 15th of October, to coincide with the Lake of Stars Music Festival. Aircraft is the GA8 Airvan. The wide open sandy beaches are the LZ. The hotel is 5 star. The airfield is adjacent the hotel at the rear. The lake is freshwater and host to large numbers of unique and colourful tropical fish. Tandem progression - popular/successful?
skydivezimbabwe replied to cpoxon's topic in Safety and Training
We practise a tandem progression system in Zimbabwe. The results have been very good, and student retention has been excellent. My major concerns are always student instructor reliance and height awareness. However, student canopy control is 200% better as a result of jumping tandem. Ultimately, a student is a result of the instructor and you only get out what you put in. Rob-By Check it out at http://www.skydive.co.zw Clicky! -
Take the BA flight to Vic Falls... at least you're in the same time zone. And while you're at it do something exciting... ride an elephant, Zambezi rapids and jump the Falls. Rob-By Check it out at http://www.skydive.co.zw Clicky!

Mosquitoes zone in on your CO2 emisissions, like bees do. Try not to exhale!

Does tandem count as a "1" under number of jumps?

Did my first blind tandem... Went to the thread first, there's a lot of good info. The dude is a cricket commentator, listens to the sound of bat on ball and predicts the strike before it happens! He also is a member of the local superbike club. Rides pillion - duh. Quote - " Feels like 180 kph!" The man has it sussed. Rob-By Check it out at http://www.skydive.co.zw Clicky!

Casa 212 jumps - $10 to 9000'
skydivezimbabwe replied to skydivezimbabwe's topic in Events & Places to Jump
Harare, Zimbabwe. The Air Force of Zimbabwe have agreed to conduct their jump training at Mashonaland Skydivers Club every 2nd Saturday, having commenced on the 16th June 2007. In return a fund for the rehabilitation of their sport club facilities has been set up. Each jumper donates $10 for his dive. The drops are arranged in four sets of two back-to-back loads for a total of 8 loads. There are plenty of good quality rigs for hire, bar, pool and recreational facilities. This agreement has proved decisive in sustaining the Club (est. 1962) through these very severe economic times. The Civil Aviation Authority of Zimbabwe has also assisted by agreeing to the hire of the BN2 Islander for the alternate weekends at a reasonable hire rate. Focus on the student and static line control. Keep an eye on the previous student you have dispatched. Keep the jump runs tight. Hook the student up before you move him in proximity of the open door. Smile and wave as you exit at the end of your dispatch run. Let the pilot close the door Alternatively you focus on opening and closing the door. That might make your students twitchy. Suresh catches the direct flight to Harare every two weeks. Send it out with him and we'll have it dusted for you. Suresh Silvarajoo silversuresh@hotmail.com Or else catch a safari in Africa. We're running a Casa over Harare for the winter season. We had great fun at the Singapore boogie in 2005. So when's the next one? Rob-By Check it out at http://www.skydive.co.zw Clicky!

Jumper numbers in a C172 Reims FR172J!
skydivezimbabwe replied to rhys's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
You gotta love Africa! Paul skyped me that you were coming in. I got to go visit one day - before he leaves. He's one hell of a balloon driver. He would drop four of us from the balloon then bring it round using the contrary winds at different altitudes to pick up the next load. We are using a Navajo this weekend. Next week we are down in the Zambezi Valley for the Air Rally. We are trying out a new Islander with up-rated 300 HP motors. If it works then I'll take it to Vic Falls. It should be cheaper than the PAC750XL and I only have to ferry it 500 kilometres. WOuld you be interested in coaching? Cheers Rob Rob-By Check it out at http://www.skydive.co.zw Clicky!
