  1. They assume that because "God" is not included in the equation, it is proof that science is determine to prove that "God" does not exist. "...And once you're gone, you can't come back When you're out of the blue and into the black." Neil Young
  2. What?! So then why would they distance themselves from him? He stands right on the line that separates the two prominent parties. Mind you, the original tea party movement was a mixture of republicans, democrats, libertarians, and anyone else who believes in a constitutional government. It, however, has been hijacked by the extreme right and has become a loop of sound bites used by the likes of Palin, Bachmann. and others who wish to push an extreme view agenda based on a personal agenda, rather than one directed by the constitution that founded this country. There are a few things that I do not like about Dr. Paul, however, I cannot argue against his stand that the only thing that should guide our country is the constitution and not special interest. That, I can stand for and agree to 100%. http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2010/01/07/ron-paul-knocks-tea-party_n_415181.html http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Political_positions_of_Ron_Paul "...And once you're gone, you can't come back When you're out of the blue and into the black." 3. I've talked up Ron Paul for years. For years, I've heard the typical response that Paul is out of touch with reality. Those who say such, refuse the facts and stand entrenched within the status quo of the party they favor. Diehard republicans have wished for Dr. Paul to change sides. They fear he brings an imbalance to their party. They fear he is not onboard with their "values." They are right. He rocks the boat. Diehard democrats fear him because he is capable of bringing democrats over to the republican party (or to the center.) The party that use to espouse the values of liberalism now supports a doctrine of hate mongering. Ron Paul will restore the values that the republican party was founded on - equal rights, freedom from oppression. Without doubt, the tea party will distance themselves from him. Them evangelical right will distance themselves from him. The radical left will oppose him merely for him having an R next to his name. Any person within the vicinity to the center will come to love him. Dr. Paul is closest to the values that founded this country. He is the only man who can bring those values back. Don't vote for a party. Vote for the man.
  4. You do have a distorted view of what works. From Wiki: 29 of the 77 guardsmen claimed to have fired their weapons, using a final total of 67 rounds of ammunition. The shootings killed four students and wounded nine. Two of the four students killed, Allison Krause and Jeffrey Miller, had participated in the protest, and the other two, Sandra Scheuer and William Knox Schroeder, had been walking from one class to the next at the time of their deaths. Schroeder was also a member of the campus ROTC chapter. Of those wounded, none was closer than 71 feet to the guardsmen. Of those killed, the nearest (Miller) was 265 feet away, and their average distance from the guardsmen was 345 feet. The guardsmen claimed they fired in self-defense. Just five days after the shootings, 100,000 people demonstrated in Washington, D.C., against the war and the killing of unarmed student protesters. Killed (and approximate distance from the National Guard): Jeffrey Glenn Miller; age 20; 265 ft (81 m) shot through the mouth; killed instantly Allison B. Krause; age 19; 343 ft (105 m) fatal left chest wound; died later that day William Knox Schroeder; age 19; 382 ft (116 m) fatal chest wound; died almost an hour later in a hospital while undergoing surgery Sandra Lee Scheuer; age 20; 390 ft (120 m) fatal neck wound; died a few minutes later from loss of blood Wounded (and approximate distance from the National Guard): Joseph Lewis Jr.; 71 ft (22 m); hit twice in the right abdomen and left lower leg John R. Cleary; 110 ft (34 m); upper left chest wound Thomas Mark Grace; 225 ft (69 m); struck in left ankle Alan Michael Canfora; 225 ft (69 m); hit in his right wrist Dean R. Kahler; 300 ft (91 m); back wound fracturing the vertebrae, permanently paralyzed from the chest down Douglas Alan Wrentmore; 329 ft (100 m); hit in his right knee James Dennis Russell; 375 ft (114 m); hit in his right thigh from a bullet and in the right forehead by birdshot, both wounds minor Robert Follis Stamps; 495 ft (151 m); hit in his right buttock Donald Scott MacKenzie; 750 ft (230 m); neck wound http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kent_State_shootings "...And once you're gone, you can't come back When you're out of the blue and into the black." 5. A farmhand is driving 'round the farm, checking the fences. After a few minutes he radios his boss and says, "Boss, I've got a problem. I hit a pig on the road and he's stuck in the brush guard on the truck. He's still wriggling - what should I do? "In the back of your truck there's a shotgun. Shoot the pig in the head and when it stops wriggling you can pull it out and throw it in a bush." The farmhand says okay and signs off. About 10 minutes later he radios back. "Boss I did what you said, I shot the pig and dragged it out and threw it in a bush." "So what's the problem now?" his Boss snapped. "The blue light on his motorcycle is still flashing!" Aggie Dave, no offense intended. "...And once you're gone, you can't come back When you're out of the blue and into the black." Neil Young
  6. I mentioned it earlier of who Perry is aligning himself with (of course Mike Neal called it bullshit, well Mike, theres more proof.) Hagee is a preacher of hate and an advocate of Radical Christian take over of the U.S. government. I can only imagine that the government keeps a close eye on him. It is refreshing to see that not every Christian has wool over his/her eyes and a credit card in hand to buy the hate books of those Perry is siding with. I think that those within the Republican party will do more to bring Perry down, than those in the Democratic party will. Thanks for posting that. 7. She should had told him to be a man and earn his red wings. "...And once you're gone, you can't come back When you're out of the blue and into the black." Neil Young
  8. That is what I thought. The guys in the shop who have been onboard longer than I had done it before. We did a crap load of them without any problem. The ship's Gunny Sargent supplied the rounds. For a gruff old grunt, he was a real nice guy, when he wasn't yelling at someone. He retired while onboard. We drilled at low speed and kept coolant flowing. Seemed to work fine. 9. Francis Bellamy was also a socialist. His cousin, Edward was the leader of the socialist movement called Nationalism. Edward was the author of "Looking Backward," the story of a socialist utopia. "God" was not in the original pledge until until 1954 due to the insistence of the Knights of Columbus. Harry S. Truman had it entered into the pledge. The original pledge is: 'I pledge allegiance to my Flag and the Republic for which it stands, one nation, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all.' The pledge reflected the views of Edward's books, 'Looking Backward' and "Equality.' In essence, it is a socialist pledge. He would be appalled that "God" was placed into the pledge that he penned. Bellamy revised his view of Christianity after he was forced from his church because of his socialist views. He considered the Christian church to be racist. He was a Christian Socialist, which went against the views of the Christian church. If Bellamy was alive today, he would be saddened to see how far back this country has fallen. He would be considered to be un-American by the Republican party. If alive in the 50s, Joseph McCarthy would have had him hung for his socialist view. 10. If you actually ever do any research, you would know that Perry is running. Research is your friend. Try it sometime. http://www.boston.com/news/politics/articles/2011/08/12/perry_announces_hell_run_for_president/ AUSTIN, Texas - Governor Rick Perry is running for president, a spokesman confirmed yesterday, a move certain to shake up the race for the GOP nomination, much to the delight of many conservatives looking for a candidate to embrace. "...And once you're gone, you can't come back When you're out of the blue and into the black." Neil Young
  11. I gave it more thought and came to this conclusion. Can't argue with that. "...And once you're gone, you can't come back When you're out of the blue and into the black." Neil Young
  12. You can drill in to live ammo, but have to be careful. We did them on the drill press in our shop with very thick plate in front of the round in case it were to fire . Drill slow with coolant, and lite pressure to keep the material from getting hot, so not to ignite the powder. We did quite a few of them for guys on the ship who wanted one. I got the Phalanx bandolier after the first time it was fired on the ship. I was down below the gun watching for leaks on the cooling system. I was one of the guys who installed it during the ship's refit. Funny thing, we did not install the overboard discharge for the hot cooling water as it was not on the blueprints. We did as the engineer told us to do and no one gave it any thought. The first time the weapon was fired, it flooded the load room and part of medical over-flow. We had to cut a hole into the side of the ship and install the discharge while at sea. It was fun hanging over the side to weld the components while the ship rocked and rolled. After that, all was fine and the operation continued. The Phalanx I'm speaking of can be seen in the LPH3 photo. It's the aft gun. There is another one on the flight deck in front of the super structure. In photo, also, I'm manning the rail up front on the starboard side of the ship. I always volunteered to man the rail instead of sitting in one of the damage control lockers. Often women in boats would flash the sailors. Best part of manning the rails "...And once you're gone, you can't come back When you're out of the blue and into the black." Neil Young
  13. Perry has made NAFTA one of his pet projects. He has benefited personally by receiving donations from a foreign company. What is worst, the company that would had built the road would own the road (and the land.) Perry is in the same foot steps of Bush 1 and Bush 2. I cannot, to this day, understand why Clinton signed NAFTA into law. NAFTA should be brought to an end to save American jobs, stop the land-grab, and to deny Mexican truckers access to what is the livelihood of American truckers. What may sound good on the surface is only that-surface. It's like calm water. If you want to know what is really going on, you need to break the surface to see what is going on below. All the more reason to vote for Ron Paul. http://useconomy.about.com/od/tradepolicy/p/NAFTA_History.htm http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/2762633/posts "...And once you're gone, you can't come back When you're out of the blue and into the black." I stop dropping acid in the 70s, although I did eat some shrooms at Quincy one year. DanJohnson, maybe it's time to put Owsley's gem back in the jar. 15. I should restate as any records such as birth, school transcripts, police... pretty much what an employer would seek during a background check should be available to the voters, as the voter are the employer of the President. 16. Lucky Limey The only time that I got to fire weapons for free was during familiarization fire off of the ships fantail when I was in the Navy. Got to shoot some cool stuff. M60s, M16s, 50 cal machine gun mounted and anything else they had in the ships armory. I have a 50 cal round that I drilled the casing to remove the powder and fire the primer. I also have part of a bandolier with spent casings from the Vulcan Phalanx, as well as a few dummy rounds. Now, that Phalanx, that's a gun! 17. I'm sure they would show Obama's if they could get their hands on it. Hell, I'd like to see it. Personally, I think the voters should have access to any records concerning any person running for the highest office. Perry is to announce his bid to run for President on Saturday. I suspect no stone will go unturned. "...And once you're gone, you can't come back When you're out of the blue and into the black." Neil Young
  18. Hell, I went through that many rounds in less than a minute with my old Uzi back in the early 80s. Happy minute. Fun, but expensive to fire. It was more of a novelty. Only had it for a few months. Sold it and bought some handguns (Colt Combat Commander .45 and a Ruger Blackhawk 357/9mm convertible single.) 19. That amendment concerns search and seizure. I believe you meant the 1rst amendment. This is a good read on the subject: http://www.politicususa.com/en/gop-christian-theocrats Edit to say the link concerning theocracy applies more to the Rick Perry debate than it does in this thread concerning church and taxes. 20. Some may find this interesting. Perry's college transcript. http://www.scribd.com/doc/61684192/Rick-Perry-s-Texas-A-M-Transcript I would like to see Obama's. "...And once you're gone, you can't come back When you're out of the blue and into the black." Neil Young
  21. I don't think they differ much if any at all. In fact its possible that those who live in cities and are involved with Cadet units are most likely the most proficient with firearms. Country kids simply don't have that much to do with firearms, maybe the odd shot gun but thats about it. Not really the same kind of hunting over here. Grouse and partridge, & theres deer hunting but that is expensive and tends to be the realm of middle and upper class businessmen. Target shooting, Clay pigeon/skeet, or the military are more likely the routes to firearms in the UK. Thanks for the insight. Gun crimes in my county are rare. Not much thought is given when a person is seen with a gun (hunters, farmers/ranchers.) Most crime around here is property theft. The last murder occurred when a migrant construction worker shot another at a local motel. Ironically, they were employed to help build the new courthouse, the Lawrence County Justice Center http://recordspedia.com/Missouri/Lawrence-County/Crime-Statistics The graphs do show an upward trend, sadly. 22. That's what I'm asking, in a round about way. Is a bidding war that has gotten to 50M dollars more inline with that of corporate business or that of a church? I just find it to be mind boggling that a "church" that offers little more than books to sell to their followers can even be considered a church. They are more inline with being a corporation and should be taxed as such. "...And once you're gone, you can't come back When you're out of the blue and into the black." Neil Young
  23. Kids who grow up in the country (farms, ranches, small towns) learn that a gun is a tool and should be respected as such. I wouldn't say the same for kids who grow up in the cities. I would say they learn the same as you stated for youth in your country. How would you say kids in the country differ from kids in the city in the U.K.? Do they have a greater respect towards firearms? Here, where I live, in the country, it is common to see kids under 10 years old deer hunting (or any other type of hunting) with their fathers. 24. Thanks, again, to everyone for great input. I agree to what most are saying. I'm still, however, find it to be unjustifiable the level of wealth that the leaders of the mega-church enjoy, all the while asking the people most likely to be their followers, the poor, to give more. The lifestyles of these people are beyond extravagant. This is a good read: http://www.inplainsite.org/html/tele-evangelist_lifestyles.html In no way do I wish harm on the honest church, but wish to see an end to the mega-church that take so much and give very little back. Shame that more ministries are not like that of Reverend Larry Rice. "...And once you're gone, you can't come back When you're out of the blue and into the black." Neil Young
  25. You support the New Apostolic Reformation? A group that preaches hate! A group that supports the take over of the U.S. government! A group that is widely considered to be a cult! How can any person, in their right mind, support a cult? Don't recall, any oath last Saturday that we should commit ourselves to take over the USA. Well there was a commitment to pray for our nation and it's leaders that I do remember. Maybe that is the hate speech your thinking of. It was a small gathering of only 30,000 plus AMERICANS seeing that half the stadium was closed off by the stage and large Black drapes. Citizen of the USA, coming together because they love their country...including two citizens that happen to be Gov's., one from Texas & the other Kansas. Yes an opportunity to gather peacefully as our Constitution allows, assemble ourselves in a common place and Pray to our Creator who by the way happens to have a son by the name of Jesus, who's pretty cool once you get to know him. I would provide photos, but I don't see any benefit in doing so. The content may not have the weight that Hitler had at the Berlin Sports Palace, yet I, and many others, find it alarming that a governor would stand side by side with those from the NAR (a group considered to be a radical religious cult.) Not surprising that Brownback would be there, as well as John Hagee, Don Wildmon and the likes of Jim Garlow. These people are amongst the most radical of the religious right. Their main agenda is to place their agenda into each and every home. Glad I'm not fond of Kool-Aid. As for your pictures? I've seen plenty and have watched and listened to the videos. I have no problem with a persons choice in religion. I have a problem when people attempt to use it to guide a government, you know, like the Taliban or militant Islamic rule. We don't need that kind of rule here. Those of the extreme right should read Jefferson's response to the Danbury Baptist http://www.usconstitution.net/jeffwall.html I have a problem when the religious want to take their religion out of the church and place it in public schools. I have a problem with them knocking on my door and attempting to preach to me. Keep it in your church and out of government, the public schools, and off my doorstep.
