Base jump with skydive gear
zoobrothertom replied to Sabrekakkonen's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
You got off pretty easy with all the above replies! I understand where you're coming from. You're new to the sport and thinking of all the possibilities you didn't even know existed when you made your first jump. Ask questions, keep thinking creatively and talk to the other jumpers at your DZ over lots of beers! Oh, and make a lot more skydives. ____________________________________ I'm back in the USA!! -
Try talking to Stump of Skydive Radio. He's in the same boat. I'll bet money he can hook you up with something/someone suitable. ____________________________________ I'm back in the USA!!

My one second of fame was the Photo Finish for March '98 when the Houston CRW Dawgs rolled an 8 way tube out of the Otter at San Marcus. I'm the guy with the white pro-tec half shell. ____________________________________ I'm back in the USA!!

S.2848 - Water Resources Development Act of 2016
zoobrothertom replied to PhreeZone's topic in Speakers Corner
When elected federal politicians are no longer beholden to their local constituents, this is what can happen. While more relevant to Senators, the 17th Amendment and its repercussions are worth reading up on. Just food for thought... ____________________________________ I'm back in the USA!! -
I'll throw in the original Centaurus from around '84 or so. The cutaway handle and reserve ripcord were above the chest strap! When you sat under canopy, the handles were just about level with your chin. I had a cutaway on one that scared me because you have less leverage at that angle. It wasn't so much a hard pull but rather an awkward angle that didn't allow a jumper to put their full strength into it. It took an extra couple of seconds get a canopy out. NOT good when you're down and dirty! ____________________________________ I'm back in the USA!!

Welcome, Craig! I'm an ex-airborne soldier myself. You're gonna love freefall! Even though you have to learn new procedures, your previous jumps will serve you well. The biggest advantage from your military background is that you have long ago overcome your fear and have learned to trust your equipment & instructors. Have fun!! ____________________________________ I'm back in the USA!!

No photo on my Freak Brother jump but it was fun. I got my number, 1371, at the '83 Freak Brothers Convention in Freeport, IL. Here's something you won't see anymore! My Freak Brother jump was a 32 way attempt with Roger Nelson in the upside down 4 way base. I had about 80 jumps and docked around 23rd or so wearing a belly-band Wonder Hog, a Strato Star and a Dragon jumpsuit. ____________________________________ I'm back in the USA!!

What the heck! Application sent. All they can do is say no and give me the finger. The one that points to the exit.... ____________________________________ I'm back in the USA!!

Anyone Know Leo/Ray Barnes
zoobrothertom replied to crazydiver's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
I think you are thinking of Western Union. Wells Fargo is a rather large bank. Another avenue is to ask your friend's local bank to query Wells Fargo about the name on the account. It takes an ID to open a Wells Fargo account. At least you'll know the exact name. Keep us posted on how it works out. Best of luck! ____________________________________ I'm back in the USA!! -
Anyone Know Leo/Ray Barnes
zoobrothertom replied to crazydiver's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
Hey, Travis. Richmond, TX is part of the Houston Metro area. If he is a skydiver (assuming he's using his real name), he'll be jumping at Skydive Spaceland or West Houston Skydiving. You can look them up in Parachutist or online. Try calling and ask for the DZO. Explain your situation and perhaps they'll be willing to ask around. Maybe they can check their files (e.g., waiver) to see if they have anyone by that name who is jumping there or has jumped there. Good luck! ____________________________________ I'm back in the USA!! -
Damn right we have a different attitude!! You'll never hear me say, "Hold my beer and watch this!" My beer goes with me! ____________________________________ I'm back in the USA!!

Proposed Amendment of BSR concerning TI Medical
zoobrothertom replied to fencebuster's topic in Tandem Skydiving
I wish I was perfect, too. ____________________________________ I'm back in the USA!! -
Here's a possible amendment to kick around. All legislation automatically expires after 5 years. Subsequent renewals may not be automatic but rather must treated as a new law would be. Any thoughts? ____________________________________ I'm back in the USA!!
