  1. If you have your gear with you, make sure you have a current passport if you're military. Unless you live in Seoul, it's just not worth the cost. Just go to Japan via Busan on the Hydrofoil and bullet train it to the closest DZ every 3 day weekend you get. ____________________________________ I'm back in the USA!!
  2. Hey, Chuck. I lived in S. Korea for 9.5 years until recently. Unless you live up by Seoul, don't even bother. With gas at around 8 dollars a gallon, each jump at $100 and the annual dues of $100 plus food and shelter, your first jump sets you back around $500! In the alternative, you can take the hydrofoil from Busan to Fukuoka, Japan and hop on the bullet train! ____________________________________ I'm back in the USA!!
  3. Hold off a bit. I don't think he even saw the posting date he was responding to. It is his/her first post. Blue Skies, Tonto..... ____________________________________ I'm back in the USA!!

  7. Thanks for the link to AerOhio's site. Their Kodiak looks nice! ____________________________________ I'm back in the USA!!
  8. Good to hear. I was a little skeptical about the slow climb rate comment above. I loosely followed the development of the Kodiak over the years and was hoping one would make it to a DZ somewhere. Cheers ____________________________________ I'm back in the USA!!
  9. Thanks, Dave! I knew a little bump & nudge would get you going. Can't wait to listen to the show. ____________________________________ I'm back in the USA!!
  10. Bump! Yawn....... What's up Dave? It's time for another fix! ____________________________________ I'm back in the USA!!
  11. Bump! It's been just over 28 years since we lost Chris. I reread his thread again today and was happy to see so many people over the years who had 'found' Chris and posted here. Cheers my old friend. We still miss you. Thomas 'Whit' Garrison ____________________________________ I'm back in the USA!!
  12. "Invoke the Social Contract." There is a set of unwritten rules that govern each society/culture. When someone makes a habit of breaking the rules, make it loud and noisy on the spot. The way I have dealt with bullies is to call them to the carpet in front of as many coworkers as happen to be within hearing distance when they misbehave. It sets them straight and you have a dozen(s) witnesses to attest to their "ASSHOLENESS." I worked with such an asshole when I was fresh out of the military. He was a retired air farce LTC (O-5) and I was a medically retired army airborne SSG (E-6). We worked for a subcontractor to the local community college who managed their aviation maintenance school (A&P). He was the boss and I was the assistant director with more (and relevant) college degrees. This guy really resented the fact that I knew aircraft inside and out while his degree was in political science. How dare an enlisted man be next in line for his position! For fun, let's call him Bob. Oh, wait! That was his name. Let's call him Fred instead. (Fred's another asshole I knew in Korea. He deserves his own thread on social improprieties as well.) Here's how it's done properly. After weeks of putting up with his shit, I nailed him to the wall in front of about 6 employees one morning. I greeted him with a friendly, "Good morning, Bob." as he walked in the door. He just grunted and blew me off without even a glance in my direction. I raised my voice and called out, "Hey, Bob! Who pissed in your Wheaties this morning. I said "Good morning, Bob!" The effect was stunning! He turned to yell at me and then realized everyone in the office was looking right at him. He said to get in his office right now. I smiled and told him the only place this conversation was going was to the HR Director's office or the company president's if he wanted to talk to me about his continuous rude behavior. Have fun! (Edited to add - Damn! I haven't put that many commas and quotes together in a long time.) ____________________________________ I'm back in the USA!!
  13. Voted. It's like 476 to 27 right now. ____________________________________ I'm back in the USA!!
  14. Much better video: http://denver.cbslocal.com/2015/04/13/longmont-resident-in-lawsuit-calls-skydiving-plane-penetrating-debilitating/ I appear twice (briefly) in it. Oh, and the reporter is a *babe*, who looks much better in person! I'm trying to take notes of it all, but hell, I could write an article just on the first day. Glad to see there are supporters there for the DZ. Ingrid Moore is an interesting person. Her house was built in 2001, 5-6 years after the DZ opened there, yet she complains about it? Also interesting that she lives less than a mile from the airport but complains about airplane noise. This is fun! She's in a county court arguing about a Federally controlled activity. She "came' to the nuisance and is complaining. I don't recall. Does the airport receive any federal funds? If so, has a noise footprint ever been done or ordered by the FAA FSDO? ____________________________________ I'm back in the USA!!
  15. Sounds more like someone quit the sport and is cleaning out the closet. I'm curious to learn what happens. ____________________________________ I'm back in the USA!!
  16. Our son was a tunnel instructor. They called those little arched girls "loaded" because they could flatten out and shoot up like a bullet from a gun. I had a little girl on a Level 4 the other day arch and fall like a brick. I'm glad I kept up with her because she forgot to pull and I had to redock and whip it out. Tell me about it! Years ago I had a girlfriend who was a gymnast as a kid/teenager. She was about 5'1". Even in her 30's she could reach back and pull the tips of her toes to her ears! She had an AMAZING fall rate range for RW. It keeps you on your toes! ____________________________________ I'm back in the USA!!
  17. Hey JimJumper. I didn't read your post before replying. I never could remember the guy's name. I was jumping there in fall of '83 and and spent every Friday & Saturday night sleeping in the loft or the tiny apartment around back. Do you remember Joe Alter the ex-army ranger who rejoined and went special forces? He and I used to jump together at Ft. Bragg alot. Cheers ____________________________________ I'm back in the USA!!
  18. Nope. But Joey D. or Bob Young will remember. Joey was the one who introduced me to the guy. Joey posts on here and was the one who related the story to me. He and Bob ran Lakewood in the early 80's. ____________________________________ I'm back in the USA!!
  19. Pat, poetic as ever! I remember the being at the '83 Freak Brothers Convention when Norman's Freak Brothers movie premiered. It rocked my perception of RW. Watching 'Wings' in my first jump course on a 16mm projector. Getting dangerously better at RW in '84 cuz I had my bible, 'The Art of Freefall Relative Work' tucked into my back pocket! Breathless waiting in '86 as a friend loaded his new copy of the much anticipated "From Wings Came Flight" into his VCR while on a weather hold for a demo jump in Wiesbaden, Germany. Went to imitate Diana's posed ballet moves and scared the shit out myself. Should of tried it higher instead of 3.5 The acceleration gave me ground rush that you usually don't experience until under 2 grand! Thanks for the trip down memory lane, Pat. Keep it up old timer What a ride! ____________________________________ I'm back in the USA!!
  20. Oh, and BTW, welcome to the forums, Molly! ____________________________________ I'm back in the USA!!
  21. Yep, what he said. Stick with the sport and stay on the conservative side and you should do just fine. Most of all, live life to the fullest! Good luck. ____________________________________ I'm back in the USA!!
  22. Cool! I made a few jumps there when I was stationed at Fort Monmoth (sp?). Don't forget to find the "Impossiball" commercial that featured Dick Spates. It was on national television during the Christmas season of '83-'84 and was hilarious to watch. Another story is the guy who went in under a streamering PC and hit the side of a sand dune and lived. I met and talked with him about it. It happened around '82 or so. Cheers! ____________________________________ I'm back in the USA!!

  24. Never ever, ever park the DZ golf cart in the bonfire. Is it still your fault if the brakes don't work? ____________________________________ I'm back in the USA!!
  25. Personally, I think they're worthless. However, there is one really good target market them. My friend has a pellet grill and it is essentially smokeless. If you live in an apartment where outdoor grilling is forbidden by rule or city code, you can fly under the radar with a pellet grill. I suspect they're also pretty handy for high-rise dwellers with a balcony as well. ____________________________________ I'm back in the USA!!
