  1. Sorry Denise but mine is in the shop for repairs. Besides I'm not sure I could handle being beat by two Katana's in the same meet. Finishing behind Mr Harris a few weeks ago was bad enough (just kidding of course ...) You'll be back at the Mile Hi Swoop Park for the upcoming PST Swoop Festival Show huh....
  2. The PST will also give away a new pair of custom swoop pant from Liquid Sky Sports and Matter clothing to go along with the cash purse for the top three finishers of EVERY EVENT!
  3. 49 days and counting... 2006 CPC Championships 10 "Pro" slots awarded 5 "advanced" slots awarded $5,000 cash awarded Circuit trophies awarded
  4. 23 days and counting, new performances added to show for the network....
  5. If you have problems downloading PST videos from www.proswoopingtour.tv you probably need to download the most recent version of QUICKTIME PLAYER at: www.apple.com/quicktime/download/win.html
  6. You can download and watch the video trailer from the PST's 2006 Mile Hi Canopy Cup on the Pro Swooping Tour's official website! The PST also has a download for your video iPOD and iTUNES! To see all what you have been missing go to www.proswoopingtour.tv/gallery.htm
  7. The PST's 2006 Mile Hi Canopy Cup is over but the music is back! DJ Eric Derren flew in from Atlanta to deliver the sounds for the award ceremony and party. Now you can listen or download the original music from the event on the "PST Radio Show". www.proswoopingtour.tv/radionews If you would like to book Eric Deren for your event contact eric@dzignlight.com
  8. I leave it alone for now. If you guys get a chance to see or fly a Daedalus JVX, GLX or GLS please do. Seeing is believing... www.daedaluscanopies.com
  9. Yes, there are no stabilizers on the current JVX or the future JSX. Less drag, more speed, more lift... Stabilizers on modern HP canopies only creates drag while they help hold the slider in the correct position for opening. slider stops near the nose and on the tail fix this problem. Again, I saw footage of a prototype canopy from another major parachute manufacturer that had no stabilizer and sail material......who would have thought?
  10. The current cell structure (tri-cell) of modern cross braced canopies like the Velocity, Xaos and VX don't utilize the entire cell but future Daedalus designs will.....among other things.
  11. Hey Grant, I had to reschedule my canopy seminars in MA so I will be at the Mile Hi Swoop Park this weekend when your jumping the JVX. I'll see you then you lucky devil...
  12. Denise, When you coming back to the Mile Hi Swoop Park to continue your training? Maybe a couple days before the CPC championships but everybody in the world will be here taking up space training before the championships. Before long your boy will have you on a JVX.......pretty fun stuff huh? Check out your boy's current PST standing at www.proswoopingtour.tv/points.htm
  13. From the forums at www.canopypiloting.com DAEDALUS CANOPIES USA does not have an official demo program but many JVX pilots including myself are more than eager to allow other pilots to try them out. There will be 6-8 JVXs at the 2006 PST Swoop Festival show. The sail material adds a huge performance in many different ways. I am also very confident that other parachute companies will offer sail material as an option in the future. As a matter of fact, I recently saw a prototype canopy from another major parachute manufacture with sail material. This company did not design a new canopy but only added the sail material to one of their existing designs. Can you also believe this canopy did not have stabilizers, who would have thought? Next thing you know we are going to start seeing..........................back to the issue on sail material. The sail material is thicker and more rigid than standard ZP. Sail material helps the canopy hold its shape better which has a significant advantage during the swoop. In addition, the sail material lasts much longer than standard ZP. In fact, during our testing a three year old JVX made of sail material was more rigid and had less porosity than a brand new canopy made of ZP! This is huge advantage if you are a non sponsored pilot that can't afford to purchase a new canopy every year. There is a reason why factory pilots get multiple new canopies for competition each year. The openings on Daedalus canopies are not like Icarus canopies VX. Yes, both these companies are owned by same engineer but the JVX was designed to open WAY better than a VX. There is very little difference (if any) between the openings of a JVX will sail material and ZP. If you come to the PST Swoop Festival you can check them out for yourself or just ask some of the competition pilots like Clint Clawson, Charles Bryan, Duane Hall, Chuck Owen, Stuart Schoenfeld, Mark Shimmell, Paul Rossouw (owns 3 JVXs), Nick Batsch, Mike Wittenburg, Bundy Taylor, Steve Armstrong, Keith Colwick, Greg Chopik, Jonathan King and Jim Moss just to name a few. We even have freefly teams like TEAM WICKED LIQUID www.teamwickedliquid.com that fly JVXs on every jump. The main disadvantage of a JVX with sail material is the added pack volume. If you don't have a large rig or plan to get a larger rig then you may want to stick with a JVX made of standard ZP. A JVX 85 made of sail material pack about the size as a conventional 135-150. If you’re going to use the JVX strictly for competition swooping and you have a larger rig then I would consider a JVX with sail material. If you are going to use your JVX for everyday jumping and have a small rig than stick with standard ZP. The JVX that is available for purchase from DAEDALUS CANOPIES USA is the same canopy used by our factory guys. Other parachute companies sell a stock version of their high performance canopy and reserve the modified wing for their factory guys only. You should have the best or at least a choice of the latest options and materials….right? The JVX comes in custom colors, competition trim and two HMA line sets on delivery. Delivery times during the summer months are around 4-6 weeks and in the winter months they are around 8-12 weeks. The factory is in New Zealand so our winter is their summer and so on. All additional questions should go through DAEDALUS CANOPIES USA support@daedaluscanopies.com See attachment...
  14. Maybe there is no district at your DZ in NY but there is a district in NJ and New England. See Ya!
  15. I believe a person has to say exactly five scripted words on screen to get a SAG card. Fuck. All this "ad-lib" skit I keep doing doesn't count? I jest with Jim about this, but I am a bit soured on the PST/CPC this year. So much effort and money spent in the last couple years, and I'm not eligible for jack squat this year. I makes me feel like why bother. I feel your pain brother, I wish I could make exceptions to the rules for everyone and I would have 70-80 pilots at the next competition. However, the rules are the rules. Try this... 1) Qualify for the CPC championships in your district. 2) Attend the CPC Championship and place in the top 15 positions. The top 10 slots at the 2006 CPC Championships will earn "Pro" slots and 11th through 15th will earn the "Advanced" classification... CANOPY PILOTING CIRCUIT www.canopypiloting.com/CPC.htm CLASSES: The CPC consists of a "rookie" and "advanced" competition class. All pilots are considered rookies unless they are issued an "advanced" status. Competitors who qualify for the CPC championships and finish in 11th through 15th place will be considered "advanced" pilots. Advanced pilots have the opportunity to attend PST Pro/Am meets and earn their "Pro" card by competing in all the Pro/Am meets throughout the season. Advanced pilots who compete on the CPC circuit against rookies will compete with the handicap system (5 ft gates). The "advanced" class of the CPC changes each year depending on the results from the latest CPC Championships. Advanced pilots will be allowed to attend PST Pro/Am competitions the following year!

  17. Some of the factory pilots are already getting paid by their sponsors to swoop... The PST will continue to organize the "Pro" competitions with the show format and push it as more of a spectator sport. With more spectators and media exposure swoopers will be able to lure more coorporate intrest. Example: An organizer organizes a competition in a show format with a marketing campaign that generates hundreds of spectators for the event. In addition, the organizer signs a contract with a network that will cover the event for TV. The organizer then gets a document in hand that shows the Network will be present at the event and film the competition/show for TV. The organizer can then provide this document to the competition pilots so they can go out and get a sport agent or try to sell a sponsorship. The competition pilot would seek coorporate sponsors and sell a sponsorship demonstrating: 1) They are a competitor in an upcoming professional competition that will be televised and/or played out in front of hundreds of spectators. The pilot would show sponsors the network document which would explain who will be covering and watching the event. 2) The pilot has been a pro pilot for "X" amount of years and is currently ranked #? 3) The pilot would also point out the different locations for the sponsor's product placement including a logo on the bottom of the canopy, helmet, flight suit, etc. This is just one example of how the show format can work for you and our sport as a whole.
  18. News from www.canopypiloting.com THE 2006 PST Swoop Festival Show The Pro Swooping Tour proudly presents... The 2006 Swoop Festival (Pro/Am) will be part of the PST’s larger show called the “AIR FESTIVAL" scheduled to take place July 21-23, 2006 at the Mile Hi Swoop Park on the Vance Brand Airport outside Denver, Colorado. This two day show has been completely organized with the spectator in mind. The show will feature non stop action that will include both parachute freestyle swoop competitions and exhibitions. Freestyle competition consists of a series of acrobatic parachute swoops across a body of water focusing on the approach, execution and landing. Freestyle swooping highlights the acrobatic abilities of the world’s best canopy pilots on the Pro Swooping Tour. The show will be performed in front of hundreds of spectators and will feature both a color and talent commentator. Competitors are encouraged to have two parachute rigs and a packer even though it’s not required. The competition field will be split into multiple loads to allow a little more time for packing but like NASCAR or other similar events the competition will not stop or wait for competitors due to a wet parachute rig, a reserve ride or slow packing. THE SHOW MUST GO ON… Each four hour show will have two competition and two exhibition events. Every round of every competition event is scheduled back to back with thirty minutes of exhibitions between events. All events will be executed by the schedule on time to guarantee there is always something happening during the show. To provide a better show for spectators and competitors there will be no course changes during the competition. The competition will feature the new inflatable course markers, as well as, the PST’s new electronic timing system, and entry gate horn. The competition results will be posted on the scoreboard round by round with an award ceremony taking place at the end of each event during the show. The PST will award a cash purse and medals to the top three winners of each competition event. There will be cash awarded to the winners of Freestyle Accuracy, Freestyle X (Best Trick), Ultimate Speed and the Distance event. The total combined scores from this competition will be used to determine the competitor’s PST ranking only. COMPETITION EVENTS FREESTYLE ACCURACY The Freestyle Accuracy event uses the same landing zones as the standard “zone accuracy” event but requires competitors to perform a predetermined freestyle move prior to landing within the zones. 60% of the competitor’s score is accumulated from performing the Freestyle move and 40% is accumulated from landing within the zones. There are no course markers on the water during the Freestyle Accuracy event. FREESTYLE X (Best Trick) The Freestyle X competition is the crowd favorite among spectators. In this event the competitor gets to choose which freestyle maneuver or series of maneuvers they wish to perform. The Freestyle X event also gives competitors a chance to show off and demonstrate any new moves. Competitors are scored on their APPROACH (15% of total score), EXECUTION (50% of total score), and TIME ON WATER (15% of total score) and LANDING (20% of total score). There are no course markers on the water during the Freestyle X event. ULTIMATE SPEED The Ultimate Speed event is used to determine the fastest competitor through a straight 200ft course on the water. Unlike traditional speed events competitors of the Ultimate Speed event must drag one or two feet from the entry gate to the exit gate in the fastest time possible. Competitors must maintain contact with the surface of the water through the entire course. The fastest time wins! The PST’s electronic timing system and gate horns will be used for instant scoring of the “Ultimate Speed” event. DISTANCE The Distance event is used to determine the competitor who can “Swoop” their canopy the furthest across the ground on landing. The Distance event uses a standard 600ft straight course with the first 300ft of the course over the water. Unlike traditional Distance events competitors will not be penalized or marked for contact with the surface of the water during the run. Competitors will be marked at their first point of contact with the surface of the ground only. 19. Most pilots have never had the chance to fly a Daedalus JVX since: 1) It is not sold through the normal network of dealers. 2) There is not an official demo program. 3) There are no discounts. 4) It is not sold to just anyone, only qualified competition pilots and those with the necessary experience to fly it. The JVX that pilots can purchase from DAEDALUS CANOPIES USA is the same canopy used by our factory guys. Other companies sell a stock version and reserve the competition wing for their factory guys. The JVX comes in either ZP or sail material with two sets of thin HMA lines with competition trim. Come test drive all versions of the JVX at the PST's 2006 Swoop Festival (a.k.a. AIR FESTIVAL SHOW). www.daedaluscanopies.com
