I think we might disagree about this as a definition. Its not a definition of a union, but it is an attribute. I'd be interested in seeing your disagreement spelled out. --------------------------------------------------------------- There is a fine line between 'hobby' and 'mental illness'. --Dave Barry

Or maybe it was just a principled stand. Unions are a government sanctioned and enforced monopoly. Sometimes they need to be reined in. --------------------------------------------------------------- There is a fine line between 'hobby' and 'mental illness'. --Dave Barry

Which pretty much sums up the hypocrisy of some people in that party. What I essentially hear them saying is, "Actors speaking out on political issues is BAD . . . unless it serves "our" purposes." Same goes for union leaders . . . Don't forget Charleton (sp?) Heston. What exactly are you referring to with regards to union leaders? --------------------------------------------------------------- There is a fine line between 'hobby' and 'mental illness'. --Dave Barry

That's not true - I was a very poor kid, and ended up going to a top-notch private school costing over $30K a year. Scholarships helped, but it was mostly loans. I made an investment in my own future, rather than expecting somebody else to do it for me. --------------------------------------------------------------- There is a fine line between 'hobby' and 'mental illness'. --Dave Barry

Is it just a conspiracy theory or is it actually possible?
ahegeman replied to quade's topic in Speakers Corner
No, you were engaging in mental masturbation over outlandish and thoroughly debunked conspiracy theories. --------------------------------------------------------------- There is a fine line between 'hobby' and 'mental illness'. --Dave Barry -
If you like used bookstores, come down to North Texas sometime and visit Larry McMurtry's bookstore in Archer City. I've bought some good stuff there. Skydive Dallas isn't too far away, either. --------------------------------------------------------------- There is a fine line between 'hobby' and 'mental illness'. --Dave Barry

Based on our government's relationships with China, France, Pakistan, and a host of other countries it seems you're not the only one who thinks so. But good on you for acknowledging the obvious. Tough call my ass. Sometimes, people are just motherfuckers, even if they managed somehow to take over a country. Sometimes, its just that easy. --------------------------------------------------------------- There is a fine line between 'hobby' and 'mental illness'. --Dave Barry

Bullshit. They would have lost their oppressor. Sure, show some respect to the syncopants who like living in a communist society, and at the same time diss those who have yearned for freedom under his thumb. Very revealing choice you've made there. --------------------------------------------------------------- There is a fine line between 'hobby' and 'mental illness'. --Dave Barry

Nope, its perfect for the UN, a pathetic organization of dictators and anti-semites. They kissed his ass when he was alive, why should it be any different now? --------------------------------------------------------------- There is a fine line between 'hobby' and 'mental illness'. --Dave Barry

Non-lethal weapons AND sports assholes...

Here's another one, from my neck of the woods- Clicky The irony of being killed by a Taser for stealing electricity aside, this seems like a pretty lame cause for using a Taser. Sure, the guy's a shitbag for stealing electricity, but this is a classic case of the bar for violence from a police officer towards a member of the public being lowered too far. I think Tasers are to be used for self-defense, not to make it easier to move people around. And now he's dead. --------------------------------------------------------------- There is a fine line between 'hobby' and 'mental illness'. --Dave Barry -
I dunno, how bad do you think John Kerry wanted to be first lady? I'm not convinced. Her house is probably nicer than the White House, and not filled with bureaucrats and sycophants. Being the First Lady means you lose your freedom. I doubt she thought it was worth it to be able to serve cocktails at the White House. Of course, I'm just theorizing, but so are you. All that being said, I didn't want her to be First Lady either. --------------------------------------------------------------- There is a fine line between 'hobby' and 'mental illness'. --Dave Barry

I actually liked THK. Sure, she was brash and kinda bitchy, but I really don't think she was particularly happy with keeping god-awful hours moving around with the traveling circus that is a presidential campaign. She didn't want it. I think she just wanted to sit around in her Chanels, drink wine, travel, and enjoy the good life. I give her props for supporting her husband's efforts while getting bashed from every angle. --------------------------------------------------------------- There is a fine line between 'hobby' and 'mental illness'. --Dave Barry

When I got my rig it needed to be re-packed anyway, so it worked out well to have the seller ship it to my rigger. She repacked it and made sure I paid him. Kinda an escrow thing, I guess. I'd make sure to give the rigger a little something for asking them to take responsibility for your transaction, though. --------------------------------------------------------------- There is a fine line between 'hobby' and 'mental illness'. --Dave Barry

Yeah, same bunch of sycophants that Kerry wanted to administer the "global test". And yet liberals wonder why we should give a damn what a bunch of spineless foreign beaurocrats with their own opposing agendas think about our foreign policy. --------------------------------------------------------------- There is a fine line between 'hobby' and 'mental illness'. --Dave Barry
