What would be a good beginners wingsuit
BenediktDE replied to TheCaptain's topic in Wing Suit Flying
Click on the "store" flight gear button to see the entire line of suits. Well, you can see the names, but the links to details all appear to be broken. Makes sense though - has anyone, anywhere, actually bought or even seen a Tengu or S8? Here is a link, since you are having problems clicking the suit links for some reason. List of wingsuits HERE. Back to my question: BM does not do a first flight suit any more, do they? The Impact is a tracking suit and the Firebird would not be my first choice... The arm- and legwings are fairly bigger. For every complex problem there is an answer that is clear, simple, and wrong. -

Missing in the List: Two dedicated first flight suits: S-Fly ACCESS and PhoenixFly Prodigy/Prodigy2. I would also split the Phantom and the Phantom2. While the first version of the Phantom could be used for first flights in my eyes, I would not use a Phantom2 on the first jump. The Acro is a wonderfull suit for the first jumps after 2 to 5 jumps in one of the three dedicated beginner suits but I would not use it on the first jump. BTW: Just had a look at the bird-man website and it seems like they are no longer producing a suit for first flights. Blade2 and the Firebird-R only. I never heard them called "skills" before.

It looks like you increased the distance tolerance from 35% to 100%. So if the base sets the distance with 10ft, 35% means you can fly from 6.3 to 13.5 ft away in the third row. With the tolerance set to 100% you can fly between 0(?) and 20ft awy if I understood that setting correctly. For every complex problem there is an answer that is clear, simple, and wrong.

I would really LOVE to be there again but it looks like I will have to earn some money at that time. Can't always fly. Wish you all great flights and hope to see great formations on the video review soon! For every complex problem there is an answer that is clear, simple, and wrong.

peronal reality check on w/s jump 27 - flat spin
BenediktDE replied to matthias's topic in Wing Suit Flying
You still did a lot of things right: you noticed you are in a spin you started the correct action (trying to ball up) you noticed it is harder than expected you tried harder and balled up successfully you noticed when you where in a stable position again and restarted flying after such a ride you did your emergency procedure perfectly as well. To me it sounds like a jump full of perfectly managed malfunctions. Well done, dude! For every complex problem there is an answer that is clear, simple, and wrong. -

3D edition - International Artistic Wingsuit Competition 2010
BenediktDE replied to mccordia's topic in Wing Suit Flying
I am looking for a buddy to train with and attend the competition. Since I travel a lot in Germany, Belgium and Netherlands it does not matter much where you come from. Let's just meet a few weekends and fly together! PM me if interested! For every complex problem there is an answer that is clear, simple, and wrong. -
Looking at your wingload you seem to be a lighter person. What do you want to fly? Flocks, or solo szenic flights? If you want to flock, a Phantom2(z) might be a suit you would want to demo. It already has wings big enough if you are light and would not be so floaty. Write a bit about your planed flights, size, weight and experience. Docked formations: How far can we take this one....
BenediktDE replied to mccordia's topic in Wing Suit Flying
Maybe this could be solved by the period in which points can be flown. In RW and freefly there is a time limit. If we set an altitude limit instead there will be messy flying formations in the beginning but on the long run I would expect that people will push their working time together with their progression. So in the long run people will try to progress in a way that they become able to fly a lot of points with as few altitude loss as possible to have more altitude to fly more points. Sure, in the beginning we will see straight dropping formations but these will disappear as soon as someone flies the same amount of points with less altitude loss and beat the dropping bricks in competitions. I had a student that landed in a corn field safely, was able to shuffle his canopy together, turned around to walk out and had a corn leaf cut into his eye. Landing OK, getting the canopy OK - walking out: Ambulance For every complex problem there is an answer that is clear, simple, and wrong.
