First POTUS in MANY years to bring decency to the White House. Something we may not see again for awhile. At least 4 years anyway.

Ever since the Internet, VPN connections, and VPN concentrators came into play, my career has been hybrid most of the time. When the phone company moved all engineering and higher positions to not tracking our time especially PTO, we went to Flex Time. We were told they did not care where we were, what we were doing, or how much time we worked....so long as the network was running, customers were happy, we responded to incidents, and our projects were on-time. So that's when I still had the school bus camper at Zhills. Wake up, check tickets and status, make a skydive. Repeat 10-12 times a day. My jump numbers made me look like a sky junkie in no time! I still have this type of support in networking though - so long as I have an internet connection I can perform without issues no matter where I am. I have seen the risk of new employees with a fully remote gig have a few issues - onboarding remotely is challenging, becoming a working part of a team is difficult with a virtual human, and when layoffs roll around it's easier to lay off an employee you do not have a personal relationship with. Laying off employees you've seen daily for 10-30+ years is hard.

The only bible I ever had was one my religious nut bible thumping grandmother bought in Jerusalem, wooden engraved covers from someplace special over there. While it meant something to me due to it coming from my grandmother - huge influence on me growing up, I passed it along to my grandson. I use the expression "Fucking white people" when in public as I see white people being either racist or celebrating their white privilege in a minority's face. It tends to get a shocked response from the fucking white people, and a deep laugh from those being oppressed by the fucking white people. Growing up in poor neighborhoods with a fair amount of police activity sure showed a LOT of racism and white privilege. Systemic racism in America continues to keep minorities trapped "where they should be" - according to white wingers.

Our IT director has started using ChatGPT for project plans, instructions for end users, reports to the executive level, and communicating from an engineering level to a more generic and easily understood level. Some people here wouldn't understand that though. The insistence on removing education is painful to see, and yet they are then confused over the need for foreigners to be granted visas to fulfill the need in America for advanced engineering jobs. Some Americans appear to be quite proud of their ignorance. This thread is yet more proof of that as well. I still cannot get ChatGPT to configure a multi-site BGP/ISIS/EIGRP network design, though it will refer me to the needed information to understanding those backbone protocols.
