  3. long you live and high you fly but only if you ride the tide and balanced on the biggest wave you race towards an early grave -from Breathe, Darkside
  4. I love SCUBA. I just did my classroom work for PADI rescue diver, now I just need to get the open water time in. I'm planning a trip to Florida this fall to dive at Key Largo and jump at Sebastian. In fact it seems like Florida has a lot of good diving (espically if you are into cave diving) and a lot of DZ's. Hmm, Maybe this warrents a longer trip... Just not a good idea to go SCUBA diving then skydiving...you're supposed to wait 24 hours to even go on a commercial flight....it definatly wouldn't be a good thing to dive in the morning then ride to 15k in an unpressurized cabin that afternoon!
  5. I lost my job today. I came in to work on time. I did exactly what the boss told me to do! I followed all the rules, and never once disrespected anybody. Then, the first time I ever had a chance to drive one of them forklifts, I made one little biddy mistake, and everyone starts running around in circles screaming and shouting. You'd think I blew the place up or something, the way people were looking at me afterwards! I don't understand it. I didn't mean to do it. It was an accident. Everyone messes up, it could've happened to anyone! They didn't have to fire me.....

  7. That's called "Sleep Paralysis" and it's quite common. It's usually accompianed by feelings of asphixiation (sp?) or a weight on your chest or just feeling like you can't breath right for some reason. It happens (to me at least) because you partially wake up and have consciousness, however you do not yet have control of your muscle functions or breathing. I often feel like there is some kind of presence in the room with me as this is happening. It's very scary!! Edited to add: clicky
  8. 650 miles is 10 hours of driving! Think of how many times you "save your life" in those 10 hours by making decisions to hit the brakes, steer around curves, miss deer, etc....Now pack all ten hours of making driving decisions into the 60 seconds or so after you exit the plane and the 10 seconds before you land! That's pretty scary to me.
  9. Some Quick statistics for skydiving vs. driving: Roughly 30 fatilities per year in over 3 million jumps equates to about 1 fatality in every 100,000 skydives. The fatal accident rate for passenger vehicles is about 1.5 in every 100 million vehicle miles. This is about 1 fatlity every 65 million vehicle miles. This roughly works out to each skydive being about the same risk as driving a car 650 miles.
  10. That's what I was afraid of!! Oh well, I might as well take advantage of it for all it's worth!!! I'm doing my 4th and 5th AFF jumps this weekend!! I can't wait!!!

Sounds like a firewall issue. If the server is behind the same firewall you are, you will not be able to access your webpages using the outside IP for the server. Try using the internal server address to access the webpage.
  12. OKAY....So I have seen this kind of thing posted a lot around here, but I just gotta say it: I'm totally addicted. I did my first few tandems a few years ago at Sebastian. I did my first AFF a few weekends ago at Mile High with DJan as my instructor. Now skydiving is all I can think about. I am as broke as I have been since College, I find myself sitting around at work looking at DZ.com all day and all my other hobbies have taken a back seat to jumping out of not so perfectly good airplanes. I did my third AFF jump last weekend and something just clicked (OOOHHH...so that's how it's supposed to feel!!) Now I am jumping as fast as finances allow. I can feel myself getting sucked into this vortex that is the world of skydiving.... I Can't wait for payday to come so I can jump again!!!
  13. Hmm. Every Number I've tried (as high as 8 digits) always comes up with a number divisible by nine. Subtract the the two numbers, add up the digits, divide by nine and you will ALWYAS get an integer. Give me an example if you can find one that doesnt.
  14. Whenever you subtract an jumbled number from the base number (ie. 321-123) you will get a number which the sum of the digits are factor of 9...(ie. 9,18,27, etc) by knowing the sum of the other two or three numbers in the number the program adds or subtracts as nessecary to get to a number that is a factor of 9. since a single digit cannot be higher than 9, there is only one possible answer.
