I have jumped at the Monroe dropzone now for the past 3 weeks. It is only 41 miles away from my house. For the past 3 years I have jumped primarily at SDA. I love that drop zone too. I wish it were much closer. I think it is a great place to jump. So much that I went almost every weekend the past 3 years and worked there for the past year as AFFI and loved it. In my opinion we are all responsible for our own lives in skydiving. I have always felt very safe at SDA. I also love jumping at the farm. Even tho ASC is tiny and I don't agree with their business practices I jumped there for my AFF course and loved it. What makes a drop zone is the people. We all know and love people at all of these drop zones. What do we have to gain and what does the sport have to gain by trash talking about any of them. My experience at the new Monroe drop zone has been great. I have feel safer there now than when it was the old Skydive Monroe. The landing area is huge and the city has stated they will be taking out more of the trees. The plane performs flawlessly here as well as the other drop zones it was leased to. The student equipment is brand new. My son just did his 4rth level and did it with Bill Scott. He had a great experience. I wouldn't think of letting my son jump somewhere unsafe or with an instructor who wasn't safe. The new Monroe is a great drop zone and a great crew of people are showing up there. The people and the relationships we develop with them are the most important things in my life. Skydivers are great people. This drop zone is close and I will continue to go there. I will not hesitate to return to any other of the drop zones. I love the people at all of them. Come and check out Monroe and have a blast. It is very nice and I am thrilled it is open. Thanks for reading! Charles

Condolence thread for Danny Page and Bob Holler
mraardvark replied to PhreeZone's topic in Blue Skies - In Memory Of
What great assets we just lost. They were both beside me on that last dive. I just had met Bob on Saturday. I was planning to go to his camp in Deland. Danny had me laughing until we left the plane, as usual. I am glad to be alive and able to jump with all of you. What a privilege. Isn't it a no-brainer to have as separate landing area for the swoopers? Isn't that just so obvious? This just didn't have to happen. Blue Skies Thanks for reading! Charles -

Hey everyone, This is Charles Pharr up in Gainesville, Ga. I jump very regulary at Thomaston, Ga. I was in the formation as we broke the Ga. Pops record during this Halloween Boogie in Thomaston. I own 2 good size antiques stores. I just want to know if I am the only active skydiver that currently owns at least one antique store. I just don't think many of us antique dealers skydive. Any response would be appreciated. Merry Christmas to everyone. Charles Thanks for reading! Charles

Hello Everyone! Joan, who had the horrible accident on July 28 at skydiveMonroe, is doing much better! She is expected to have 100% mental recovery. She is doing light walking and should recover physically as well. What a blessing. We are trying to get her rig together to sell so the proceeds can go in her trust fund. Please someone, donate or give us a great deal on a reserver canopy, 140 - 150. This will truly be helping a wonderful person and skydiver pay her bills and keep her home. Please contact Joe at skydive Monroe at 1-800-skydive or me at 770-540-1939 or charles@aardvark-antiques.com Thanks so much for your help and the donations we have received for Joan. Mr Aardvark Charles Pharr Thanks for reading! Charles

Hi, I need a reserve canopy, 140 - 150 for my friend Joan Meadow's rig. She was badly injured at Skydive Monroe on July 28. Her reserve has too much blood on it to use it again. We need a good deal on this. I will sell her rig and profits from the rig will go into the trust we have set up for Joan. Please help and respond soon. Joan is doing better but still has a long way to go. She is taking some steps now and her short term memory is improving. She does know us and can converse. Thanks so much to all of you who have contributed to her trust fund. Please help us get a good reserve at a good price or donation. Thanks, Charles Pharr Thanks for reading! Charles

Hello everyone in skyland! Just to give you an update on Joan that had the accident in Monroe , Ga. at Skydive Monroe. Joan is able to carry on rational conversation but does drift off at times. She apparently will not have to have any surgeries on her broken bones! Her right eye is lazy but we hope it will come around without surgery. All of her vital organs are ok and her brains scan is clear. She has a long road ahead and is still in a lot of pain. I have to have surgery on my wrist this Thursday from the accident. No big deal just ligaments, tendons, and a fracture. Nothing like the shape Joan is in. People, please check your altimeters! Thanks so much for your generous donations and please give as you can. It will be a long time before Joan can earn any money on her own. Thanks so much for your prayers. I plan to see you in the sky in a few weeks! PLEASE READ AND HELP! On July 28, 2004 Joan Marie Meadow had a skydiving accident at Skydive Monroe www.skydivemonroe.com near Atlanta. Joan was airlifted to Grady Memorial Hospital in Atlanta where she remains in critical condition. Joan has cracked vertabrae in her neck and back, broken pelvis and hip, most of her front teeth are broken out, and most of her ribs are broken. Joan is not responding to any stimuli. We expect her to come around but she has no health insurance. She is a single mom with 2 wonderful girls ages 3 and 7. We need to help her! We must help her maintain the mortgage of her Gainesville, Ga. home and support these children who probably will be living with her brother's family in Athens, Ga. My name is Charles Pharr. I made the skydive with Joan. We made a big mistake. I was beaten up but she is paying dearly. Joan has been a friend of mine for 11 years as well as a faithful employee. She is a wonderful mother whose children thrive under her. She does volunteer work with her church, her children's school and other areas. Again she needs our help! I am starting a fund for her family to use to help her. Please, please, if you can. Just send a check for the amount of one jump or more to help her. Just one jump at least! Make checks or money orders payable to Joan Meadow Recovery Fund and mail to the address below or you may make a deposit at any BB & T . These checks will be put into a trust account and her family will use them to support her and her children. Please contact me personally with any questions.
