  1. Lutz incident? BE THE BUDDHA!
  2. Hey guys, thanks for the info...but my question was really regarding the dangers of buffeting. My self-diagnosis in the air (with the advice of the riggers I know, on the ground) let me know that yes, my brake lines are too short because (as stated in first post) there is no bow in them the canopy is out of trim, when packing, 1st A (outermost) is about an inch and a half to 2 inches above the 5th A (innermost) and the whole group cascades, rather than being even. skydivenflorida, my reason for pulling fronts up high w/out holding toggles was to take out the variable of pulling the toggles down to the dive loops (i.e. testing trim, rather than taking the chance of testing trim and brake line length at the same time.) thx for fingrtrap info, I need to ask about that. b.t.w. aggie, I'm interested, how does it affect openings? does itmake them harder? cause I've been getting whacked really hard as of late. 3. ok, sorry, I did a search for this and didn't find anything (I'm probly just not very good at searching the forums) anyway. My canopy is out of trim and the brake lines are too short (no bow) when I pull both fronts, regardless of whether or not I have toggles in my hands (tested high) the canopy buffets. what are the potential dangers of buffeting? I can feel the lack of tension in the line when it bounces, but what can happen? Thx. BE THE BUDDHA!
  4. ditto, one of our 182's has duct tape all over the inside to cover up stuff so you don't get snagged/tears, etc. some of the ceiling material is falling off, it looks pretty ragged on the inside, but I know the DZO absolutely babies everything about that plane that matters in flight. They really are treated as if they were his own children. BE THE BUDDHA!
  5. oop, sorry, my fault I'll try two raed baetter next time

  7. www.paragear.com is one of the many, buy yourself a tshirt while you're at it Edit to add: However, it would probably cheaper to buy it from your Drop Zone, paragear has a $25 minimum online order thinger BE THE BUDDHA!
  8. wow man....your place is really f'ing expensive. It's not very hard to figure out, get a price list at your DZ, whip out a calculator, and punch in the #'s like the man just said, you only ( at least my dz) NEED coach jumps so that someone can verify your maneuvers for your card. Other than that, they're just a really good idea. to give a rough estimate of how much this sport might cost you I've spent 3828 bucks so far on this sport, between alti's, jumps, gear (rig only cost $700) ....here's some advice, don't think about howmuch you're about to spend in fact...knowing I spent that much is...kind of...depressing...I'm gonna go cry now BE THE BUDDHA!
  9. Me, from Michigan, good times, good parties I've forfeit many a party night to hang out w/ the guys at the D.Z. no time for normal people!! BE THE BUDDHA!

  11. Burst fracture of the lumbar...usually caused from falling from a height and landing on the feet too hard...PLF!!
  12. we did something like this w/ 4 ppl. apparently the guy in back fell the fastest of all of us and couldn't get up to fall as slow as us (don't know why) he was on my legs and ended up flapping around like a streamer hanging kind of below me. it was funny as hell BE THE BUDDHA!
  13. ...this just might be the best post to ever grace the presence of these forums, thank you BE THE BUDDHA!
  14. don't' worry LIla, I'll give everyone on the ground plenty of notice...plus you'll see a bunch of guys throwing pants on over their leg straps and going up w/ no shirts on....not something you see every day at our dz If I'm not mistaken, isn't it 3 degreesthat you lose for every thousand feet? and, as said earlier, this is most definately going to be a low altitude jump (5, 6 grand) I hope mini-me forgives me BE THE BUDDHA!
  15. you mean the guy who dumped his girlfriend because of skydiving?
  16. Hey, do you remember how cold it was at ground and altitude? I'm guessing ground temp will be right about, low 30's, high 20's and peregrine, ask your DZO what they feel about Nekkid jumps. I asked my DZO and he goes "Hey, it's a free country, do whatever you want" so apparently he doesn't care at all. your DZO may say something similar? this isn't a dzo planned jump, iti's something I decided I wanna do for my big 100 and asked friends to do with me
  17. thanks guys, major, major help. ready now BE THE BUDDHA!
  18. ok, so a couple of us are planning to do a naked jump sometime this month (I want to celebrate my 100) But we're jumping in october....in michigan....probly near the end. besides that, some of us are planning to jump on the 31st. we're probly only going halfway up (around 6) BUT Does anyone have experience w/ nekkid jumping and will the cold provide any significant risks to a naked body in regards to arching/stability and flying the canopy? thx! BE THE BUDDHA!
  19. i'll see if i can get it :) yeh, no injury BE THE BUDDHA!
  20. Naah, problem isn't finding the handle in this particular case I had found it, I was just having a hard time grabbing it because of the position and wierdness of my hands from cold. as far as pulling it out. I know the attachment btwn the handle and the PC seems to be a bit short, but no shorter than other ones I've worked with, I've just always pulled this way. I have the handle pulled out as far is it'll go without exposing material (I'm rarely bellyflying) normal hands, normal PVC aaah well, I'll just switch PC's, I would like to know if anyone's heard of someonegetting their fingers stuck tho, sorry, don't mean to hi-jack the thread! BE THE BUDDHA!
  21. I'll look in to his method for the sake of having more ideas and knowledge in my head, but the tension or the PC being stuck in teh boc wasn't the problem. I planned on pulling right around 3 anyway but the handle was a little more inside the BOC than I would've liked (even though I thought it was fine in the plane) and my fingers had gotten wierd from the cold, which I Didn't notice until I went for the pull (gotta love michigan) i'm just getting away from the pvc thing altogether, got a new pc (with monkeyfist ) on the way is the "potentially harmful" part you speak of sticking my fingers in it? and are you saying harmful because they could get stuck? rigger already look at the BOC How do you guys go about pulling a PVC handle? Mine doesn'treally hang outenough to grab in the palm of the hand thx BE THE BUDDHA!
  22. 2 stories here. I have a buddy that I was jumping with over the summer, he was a cool guy but rather afraid to hang by his hands, off the strut of the C-182. He'd always hook his arm over it. anyway, one day (I think i was his...30th somethin jump) he climbed out on to the strut and hung by his arm. I guess he'd been gunning for camera time (tandem camera) and he let go with one arm to get his face in the shot. THe video is hilarious as you watch him slide all the way down the strut and up against the body of the plane while hanging by one arm, a look of terror as he's screaming. he then lets go, spinsa round, lands on the step, and slides his way off the step in to freefall....I can't tell you how many times we watched that in slow-mo 2nd story. 2 incidents within a week of each other, same guy. student has tons of time to turn either direction, (at least a good couple hundred) and ends up going straight in to the only tree that's not completely but almost to the entire side of the landing zone. Week after, (1st day since tree incident) He comes in again, another huge straight in approach, lands and goes sliding and tumbling across the tar mac. rips R.O.L (not in use) off the lleg strap, scuffs on the container, broke the little bit of line that goes through the 3 ring system. 23. the only beef I have w/ the big plastic handle is that it's sometimes a bit hard to grab. I've had one on my rig since I bought it at jump 14 and I find myself needing to stick my fingers inside the handle in order to pull it out. Just a heads up, a couple weeks ago I Found myself approaching 2 grand trying to get my fingers in and pull ( a little too close to the ground for my comfort level, beingthat I was that close unintentionally) Just my experiences with it, congrats on the new container :) BE THE BUDDHA!
  24. threw a skytronic on mine, no clip available for skytronic. secured it w/ zip ties. (2 running the length of it and 2 perpendicular to those, at either end) |---| | | |---| bad pic but you get the point. anyway, works great. just try throwing some zip ties around the whole system (clip and dytter) BE THE BUDDHA!
