Back Loop, Front Loop, Barrel Roll A License
robertmicp replied to craig_b's topic in Safety and Training
As Im sure other will state, the whole idea is to get you "unstable" to see if you can get stable. I still have problems with each, but, I can sure exit "unstable" just fine and recover just fine. Just relax....and most of all have FUN "Also I heard the voice of the Lord saying who shall I send, and who will go for us? Then said I, here am I, send me." -
USPA A lic requirement. Hop-n-pop at 5500 and 3500. "Also I heard the voice of the Lord saying who shall I send, and who will go for us? Then said I, here am I, send me."

To be honest, I was at the Perris tunnel about 4 weeks ago. Had a great time and learned a lot. I had called a week prior to my arrival to set up some coach jumps while I was there. I was told "no problem, we will care of it when you get here". Well, not to slam anyone, I went over to the school after my tunnel time, was told I would have to wait 3 hours for a coach and that I would not be able to jump until a coach jumped with me (I am working on my A lic, but on solo status). I walked around and talked to a few guys (who were coaches at Perris), they were not doing anything. I went back to the school and asked again if they were sure it would be 3 hours till I could jump with a coach, they said all the coaches were booked up and jumping. I left and caught a early flight home. Just relating my experance at Perris. "Also I heard the voice of the Lord saying who shall I send, and who will go for us? Then said I, here am I, send me."

Im curious, what does your instructor say about your progress? I too had to do level 6 a few times, but my instructor and I sat down and talked out the whole dive before we went up. After my second level 6 dive, I got stable on exit (13,000), checked where I was, alitude, check with my instructor, started to pull my head up, tucked knees and Whoa!!! I was over!! Then I was thinking, what now?? Oh yeah, ARCH!! and I was on my back, quick shoulder roll and was on my belly looking at my instructor, check altitude...11,500'. Happened very fast. I did a few more on that dive till 5,000', checked with my instructor, tracked off. Was a great dive. Now I flip on every dive!! Just my 2 cents with my very limited experance. I was there about a month ago. Told me the same thing. Because of the motion, you could hit a wall or something. You will see the tunnel guys run up the sides and backflip. I felt the time (15min) in the tunnel was great to fine tune my body flight and control. Depending on your coach, you can do some basic RW. Flying into Ontario Airport, the drive is only 30 min to Perris. Have fun "Also I heard the voice of the Lord saying who shall I send, and who will go for us? Then said I, here am I, send me."

I will finish my A lic this week (weather permitting). I want to learn more on body fight and canopy control. I see there are a few places (SkyDiveU, Skydive AZ, ect). I dont mind the travel (Im in CA), but I want the most for my time and money. Who out there has gone to one of the "one-on-one" coach courses? Did you get what you were looking for? I look at it as "more questions" to ask my instructor when planning the jumps. Thanks "Also I heard the voice of the Lord saying who shall I send, and who will go for us? Then said I, here am I, send me."

Thanks to everyone for the great "tips". Im going to talk with my instructor about my hard deck on these jumps. Also, if I do a "one thousand" count and deploy, wont I still be on the "hill" ? Can anyone explain what this does to your deployment? Thanks "Also I heard the voice of the Lord saying who shall I send, and who will go for us? Then said I, here am I, send me."

Been pulling between 4500 - 4000. I think its a comfort zone thing. I never though about that I will not be at terminal speed on exit to pull. Is the open slowing not being at terminal? I will do the 5500 first and pull once I see the tail of the plane go by. I know that alitude awhereness has been drilled into me, but, to be honest on a h&p, do you really look? All I have left for my A lic is the two hop and pops (3500 & 5500). Any tips on the best exit? Im stable very quick once out the door. I guess my big issue is my hard deck is 3500 and doing that pop at 3500 kinda freaks me out. I dont know if its a so much lower or ground rush thing. Any tips would be great. Looking for my first rig. Im 5-10, 180#. Been flying 225s on student status. My instructors say I have very good canopy skills. Im really not into "swooping", but into landing where I want to :) I have talked with a lot of people and get advise all over the place on wing loading. Everything from .8 to 1.1 for a first rig. I want a good main to get me up to say 100 - 200 jumps. I like the 225 I have been jumping, but I already want a little more performance. Whats everyone think? a 190 or 225 for a first rig? Thanks
