  1. Thanks buddy. Thanks a lot. Why don't you just get some salt and just start rubbing it in the gaping bullet hole in my back? What's the most you ever lost in a coin toss, Friendo?
  2. I had a unfortunate skydiving accident back in 2000 where I had fractured the middle meta-carpel bone in my right hand. A year and two titanium screws later. I started physical therapy and ultrasound treatment. The scar tissue is still there, making it impossible to straighten out or curl my middle finger upwards when my palm is facing down. I did about another year of strengthening the middle finger with some grip excerices. So 7 years later, I figured that I should be up to par and most probably have gained 99% strength back in my right hand. Well, I started punching a punching bag about two months ago. I was probably punching it less than 50% of my strength and to my surprise, I ended up with a swollen hand right around where the screws are holding the meta-carpel bone together. I'm not a medical expert but I would assume that it appears that I might have aggravated the scar tissue surrounding the titaninium screws. I am really determined to take up mixed martial arts training. Therefore, my question to you Physical Therapists or Strength Conditioning Trainers would be: What can I do to help prevent my hand from swelling again If I'm going to be punching a punching bag or take up mixed martial arts training? a) Are there any special exercises that I can start doing to help prevent the swelling? b) Are there special strength conditioning apparatuses that I can purchase to help strengthen the troubled area? c) Should I just focus on being the stud that I am and have women fight my battles for me? Seriously, please help me because this is really bumming me out. Serious answers only.... Yeah right, this is DZ.com Edited to add: Suggestions are always helpful and appreciated. I would never hold it against anyone if their methods were effective or ineffective. It's just suggestive input. What's the most you ever lost in a coin toss, Friendo?
  3. Here's the link: NY CITY'S COPS GET PUPPET $OCKED By PHILIP MESSING March 13, 2007 -- The city is about to shell out more money for a puppeteer than for a rookie cop. In the twisted world of New York civil service, pulling the strings on a marionette is worth at least $7,000 more per year than risking one's life as a rookie officer. The city Department of Parks & Recreation just advertised that it's looking to hire up to three puppeteers - for jobs that will pay between $32,275 and $50,242 a year with complete benefits and union representation. That contrasts sharply with the salary for a rookie NYPD cop, which is a measly $25,100 a year. A city Parks spokesman said only one puppeteer will be hired for now. Retired NYPD cop Michael Fandal, who moonlighted as a children's party clown, was outraged by the job posting, and called for the city to stop playing around with police pay. Fandal - who billed himself as "Ernest Desire" in his second job - won honors during his 20-year NYPD career between 1973 and 1993 for incorporating his showmanship into the job. "I think it's sad that entertainers are being paid more money than starting cops," said Fandal, 57, who now works as a substitute city schoolteacher. "Looking at it from the police officers' point of view, they're risking their lives out there and puppeteers are getting more money for entertaining a couple of kiddies at no real risk. "I think this [the puppet job] will tick off police officers that their risks are not being appreciated," Fandal added. Parks spokesman Warner Johnston called the puppet job "a very skilled position." "It's not just someone with his hand up a puppet," he said. "It's someone who has to create and maintain the marionette. It's an artisan position." The new puppeteer will work at the Marionette Theater in Central Park - and also make rounds in the "PuppetMobile," doing performances in city parks and recreation centers. Johnston said he expects the new city puppeteer to make closer to $32,275 than to $50,242. "It's a civil service range and we typically hire toward the low end of the range," he said. The oddball disparity between puppeteers and cops could be traced back to the police union's own bargaining committee, which negotiated substantially higher pay for veteran officers at the expense of the rookies. After starting at $25,100, a police officer's salary jumps to $32,700 after six months. After 51/2 years on the job, cops can make up to $59,588. The latest police contract has now expired and talks are at an impasse on a new one. Rookie cops have had a particularly rough time lately. Beat cop Joseph Cho was attacked on Feb. 6 in Queens by a bat-wielding thug who had spent three hours lying in wait for an officer. The thug, Danny Fernandez, 21, was chased down and arrested by two other rookie cops, Patrick Lynch and Christine Schmidt. Fernandez, who stole Cho's gun and handcuffs, was slapped with a slew of charges including attempted murder. Two weeks ago, a rookie cop in Queens was stabbed trying to protect a man who had just saved a nun from being attacked. Luckily the blade went directly into Officer Stuart Ingram's badge, shattering the knife and saving his life. Additional reporting by David K. 4. If the video did not show the two young girls left alone towards the end, then this could quite possibly be the case. Videos don't lie but video editors do. Seriously, IMO I'd rather see the uncut and raw version of this video and make a decision from there. Maybe those two girls in that video weren't really there. Maybe I'm the only one that could see them. brrrrrrr Man, that reminds me of the Shining with those twin girls, that scared the crap out of me when I was a young lad. 5. Only because you weren't graced by my manly man presence. lol It was unfortunate that you couldn't come by my post that time. Oh well. I hope to see you the next time you're in town. However, the next time you come down, I might be in the Chelsea area. Happy New Year! What's the most you ever lost in a coin toss, Friendo?
  6. Andrea! You look great on TV. Your daughter is beautiful, just as you are! You were so smooth in front of that camera! Too bad we missed eachother in the city. Happy New Year! What's the most you ever lost in a coin toss, Friendo?
  7. God, why do people always go off the original topic when replying to a post in SC regarding Christianity? Nevermind God, I've done that at least a million times already. Anyway, here's another question. God, how do I get to be cool and create the same thread twice on SC? And how come there are replies on both threads? http://www.dropzone.com/cgi-bin/forum/gforum.cgi?post=2596340#2596340 http://www.dropzone.com/cgi-bin/forum/gforum.cgi?post=2596336#2596336 What's the most you ever lost in a coin toss, Friendo?
  8. Bro, I thought that avatar was your actual photo. I thought you were just making a goofy face. It was believable because you have a blue skies and green grass in the background, so I assumed it was taken at your DZ. Oh man. Who is that person in your avatar? 9. I honestly cannot give you a rough number bro. Sorry, I'm only a donut eating street/foot patrol cop. QuoteNew York is a large metropolitan city, so its numbers may be a little higher than the national average,Quote This is true but abductions are only recorded as so if the child is seen/witnessed being involuntarily taken in public view. Until that is proven child abductions not seen in public view are considered missing persons only. What's more, in very low income neighborhoods, the missing isn't even newsworthy. However, if children under 15 and senior citizens over 65 are reported missing the NYPD has a Task Force Unit which classifies the aforementioned missing people as a level two/orange mobilization. This seals off, I think, about a 1 mile radius or so but don't quote me on that. What's the most you ever lost in a coin toss, Friendo?
  10. Dave, you make an excellent lawyer! You're hired! What's the most you ever lost in a coin toss, Friendo?
  11. I don't have an exact percentage for you. Only the Compstat unit and PDU have that information you're looking for. I told someone else here, I just eat donuts. It doesn't take half a brain to eat donuts so my 1/4 brain mind can't answer that question for you. What's the most you ever lost in a coin toss, Friendo?

  14. Holy crap. The jumper jumped right onto the tracks! The man didn't jump into the tracks to save him. He helped him out from in between the cars with another man's help. Both men helped him by pulling him up into the platform but the hero dragged him further into the platform. Wow! What's the most you ever lost in a coin toss, Friendo?
  15. Right on the money! Seriously, our NYPD Compstat unit is involved with crime statistics. They monitor crime patterns, develop crime tracking methods and what not. Bro, I just hang out in front of the local donut eatery. I sit back, relax with my donut and coffee and watch the greatest show on earth! Seriously, I don't even eat donuts and I don't even drink coffee. I prefer beer and pretzels while I'm on duty. I simply stated: I may have exaggerated on the quick minute or two but kids are snatched right from under their parents' nose a lot of times and yes it does happen regularly and no, a lot of these abductions do not make it to the paper often times. 16. I guess he reacted without taking the time to really think about it. Well, I don't think he had time to think about all that. He made a snap decision. He saw somenoe who was on the tracks and he knew if he didn't react, the guy on the tracks would have died. Maybe for that one instant, all he could think about was that someone was going to die and he was capable of saving them by reacting quick enough to do something about it. Who knows? I don't believe in luck. It was timing. Had he showed up a minute later, that guy on the tracks would have been rat food. You have to take into consideration that this took place in NYC. Most NY'ers would just walk away and keep going where they have to go. Others would just stand there and watch to see what happens. This guy stood out from the crowd and saved a life. That's it in a nutshell but what stands out is that he left his two daughters unattended. We still don't know how old his two daughters were but for now I guess we're assuming they were probably youngins. I see your point. I guess maybe he should have thought about his family first. At least nothing happened to his daughters, thank goodness. What's the most you ever lost in a coin toss, Friendo?
  17. uhhhhhh sez me. I'm a NYC cop. What's the most you ever lost in a coin toss, Friendo?
  18. If the hero sustained any serious injuries as a result of this, you can bet that the MTA probably would argue the point. Not just that, all it takes is a simple trip off one of the tracks, hit the 3rd rail and he would have been toast. I don't know how old his two daughters were but to leave them unattended to save another person's life shows how altruistic he was at the time. Child molesters are a dime a dozen in NYC. All they need is a quick minute or two to snatch your kids from under your nose. He's a good guy, if only we had 7 million more people like him in NYC. You don't know how many people I've seen walk over other people who fall on the ground, bleeding and unconcious in NYC. What's the most you ever lost in a coin toss, Friendo?
  19. I know a lot of Christians that just read The New Testament. A majority of The New Testament contains the parables of Jesus, Jesus' quotes and teachings. The New Testament also contains passages about Love, Forgiveness, Compassion, Understanding, Fellowship, and Brotherhood. Those moral codes 2,000 years ago is still considered to be existent today with a lot of people. I don't think that could ever get old. What's the most you ever lost in a coin toss, Friendo?
  20. Don't worry, you're like one of those fat kids that got picked dead last like in basketball lineup. Seriously, if you were to ask seriously, which I know this is not the case, your time will come where you'll see some sort of miracle of God and you'll make a concious decision to accept it or deny it. Till then, you can play basketball with me, I promise to pick you first. What's the most you ever lost in a coin toss, Friendo?
  21. Yes, I've already read your take on Christians. It's all good brother. Happy New Year. What's the most you ever lost in a coin toss, Friendo?
  22. I don't know a whole lot regarding any of those names you've mentioned. I don't know a whole lot about Baptists either. Based on your tone, it seems those people probably didn't do any good, in your opinion. I don't know. However, don't you think it's unfair to judge Christianity based on what a few people have done? There are millions of Christians out there. Some claim to be Christian for their own profit gain. Some claim to be Christian and make up their own beliefs of what God wants them to be like. Christians are not cut from the same mold. We're regular schmucks like you. So why do you refer to born again Christians as "Suckers"? Let's hear your opinion on it. 23. Who knows? Maybe your Atheist God can answer that question for you if you ask him or her. What's the most you ever lost in a coin toss, Friendo?
  24. You're missing the point. A Christian doesn't have to go above and beyond to find ways or find people to help out in the world. However, if a Christian encounters someone that needs help and he/she doesn't help out that person in need then, that's not being Christlike. And that person will be judged for it. 25. As with anything else, you can turn a deaf ear to this if you don't want to hear it, you do have a mind of your own. You think that's offensive? You want to really get offended? Come down to NY and you can see Gay men making out in the middle of the street. Go to a trendy club that has unisex restrooms and you can see gay men blowing each other. You see that kind of stuff all the time. Y'all non-city folk need to get out more. I stand on a NYC street corner every night. People don't get pissed off because they simply walk around the Christians that hand out those pamphlets as if they don't even notice them. None for nothing but those people that hand out pamphlets to you in the street don't get paid to do that. They don't even promote a particular church for you to attend. They're spreading the gospel to you, and it's up to you to take one and read it, flat out reject it, turn them away or ignore them. All I can say is that they care enough about you to spend time away from their families to stand on that street corner. You have your own mind where you can turn a deaf ear to it and take it with a grain of salt. It's not right that any human being would do such things. However, it's not right to stereotype either. Christians, Catholics, Hindus, Buddhists, Atheists, etc are all human beings too. Regardless of what religious faith or no religious faith one follows or proclaims, if they had a screwed up childhood or if they are just plain screwed up they are going to be capable of doing some pretty screwed up things. Claiming to be Christian alone will not protect them from being screwed up. Anyone can claim to be Christian or a great Christian leader and officially declare it on paper. However, having a Christian heart iand maintaining it is the real challenge. No one in this world is perfect, not even Christians. I'm no psychologist but if it's in a person's mind to like boning little boys or fondle them and it's not in their hearts to see that it's morally wrong then claiming to be Christian will not change the way they feel about it. Who knows, maybe they became Christians because they thought God would forgive them if they simply ask him to after every sin they knowingly committed. Maybe they became Christians so they can have access to more little boys to play with. Who knows? Only God and that person knows why they play with little boys against God's will and against U.S. law and still preach the gospel. Are you referring to Christians as being mentally challenged? You should just spit it out. I don't know about anyone else but NY'ers don't walk around broken eggshells with anyone. We tell it like it is and we have pretty thick skin. Anyway, this is your world bro. You choose how to live it. You are entitled to your own opinion. However, I hope your annoyance towards Christians aren't based on just by how a lot of them may have rubbed you the wrong way. What's the most you ever lost in a coin toss, Friendo?
