But snow makes the cold of winter all worthwhile! Skiing, donuts in the streets, snowball fights!

I don't get giddy over the holidays. I get depressed thinking about those wasted hours of my life I'm about to spend with the family being lectured constantly on needing to cut my hair, stop going clubbing, stop drinking beer, etc, etc, etc.

For some reason most people seem to have the attitude of... well if I can get it for free, why would I pay for it? Well what do you think will happen if everyone starts ripping off those games/CDs/movies you like so much? If the designers aren't making any money at it, they can't continue to make that stuff you enjoy so much. Just fork over the money.

They tried to pull that shit on us when I was in middle school with the pledge of allegiance. The following year we were allowed to say it again, but there was a substitution phrase we could use in place of "under God".

This was kinda funny, but since it's political humor I guess it must go here.. Go to google, type in "Weapons of Mass Destruction" and then click "I'm feeling lucky" and check out the error message..

Never heard of Shadow Heart, but Postal 2 was hilarious. Even though I'm a cat lover, being able to use a cat as a silencer was really funny, not to mention the raining cats on the last day. I was never barred from playing any video games, but I was one of the very few kids in school that weren't allowed to watch Popeye, or Tom & Jerry or Bugs Bunny cause of violence and cause Tom used to smoke when his buddies came over.

I wanna know where that jump was. Sounds like more fun than the thousands we're all used to.

Ahh ok thanx again. That's why I come here... to learn more and occassionally be terrified by horror stories of AFF students spinning out of control lol.

Hmm still sounds frivolous to me. Still sounds like going to Sears and buying yourself a handsaw, then going home and cutting your arm off with it and then sueing Sears for not putting some sort of safety mechanism on it. You know it's dangerous, don't do it. On the other hand, most people, myself included, don't know how hot coffee is "supposed" to be kept. I just normally wait cause it's too hot to drink, but I had no idea it was served that close to the boiling point. So on that note, the required label was appropriate.

Yep working today too and Friday as well, but it'll not only be a half day on Friday, but there will only be around 5 or less people here including management! Today there's lots of people in the office though.

Thanks for the info guys. I did look up that cypress question last night in a catalog I got in the mail... guess they send all new USPA members these catalogs or something? The numbers you have listed there for expert/student are the same as what was in the one page ad for cypress. Hadn't really occurred to me on that 29MPH thing, but now thinking about how they've been saying that the student parachutes move at 25MPH, I can see a situation there if you're moving downwind with a somewhat strong wind... of course that's probably why I'm not allowed to jump in winds greater than 14MPH.

How many students do not continue to jump?
Morcyk replied to mazevedo's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
Hehe, I'm usually excited about going out there, then when I get to the DZ, I get nervous. By the time I'm on the plane on the way up, I'm shaking in my boots. Of course once I exit, it's all good and it's just pure excitement. It's just getting up the courage to do that first jump of the day after almost a month of not doing any. After that first jump, I just wanna keep going back up. -

Finally a post I'm qualified to answer, hehe. Notice the 4 jumps listed to the left of this post... my first one was in June or July. I was going with the once every 30 days thing until my 3rd tandem, when I did 2 in one week (last tandem 1st AFF). Now I'm finding my funds severely depleted and started to wonder if I should wait a few months to save up enough to do the whole AFF course in a week, so now I'm 45 days past my last jump. I was probably almost one of those statistics that just vanishes over time, but dammit if I didn't go with a friend that's being a constant ball-buster about getting me back out there anyway. So I tried to go yesterday and was too cloudy, trying again Friday. Just gotta "tweak" the bills a bit for about a month and then I should be all set. I do find that the longer I go without, the less likely I seem to be to go back. I guess the excitement just kinda fades over time cause I start to forget the feeling of my heart trying to jump out of my chest just before the exit. -
Ditto on getting in on that deal... would sure make it less expensive and not take me a year to get to 10

Ack what are the answers? I think I could get reasonably close on 2 of em, but I wouldn't be positive. 1)Think for me it was ?2500ft? 2)??? 3) Wild guess based on reading.. about 400ft for a main to open? guessing about 200 on the reserve?? guessing about 1k total??? And yes I did read the SIM, but since I only have 4 jumps, I wasn't all that interested in what altitude a sport cypress would fire and I don't remember actuallly reading how many feet a cutaway/reserve pull takes.

It's the game makers, etc. fault cause the laws these days make it so easy to win a frivolous lawsuit, like the McDonald's lady... nuff said.
-
Guess I'll never know. Tried to reload the game in 2 different browsers and neither one will load it anymore.
-
doh i reloaded the page to see that it said there was a winner and now i can't load it anymore!

I'm stuck now too. The painting.. to the left of it, if you move the light around a bit (does take some time) you'll hear some pounding. Been to the other rooms, read something about a key and the clock but couldn't do anything with the clock. Still can't get thru that locked door.

New, not even trained yet one question :)

I don't think the cold stops the jumps, only the jumper if they don't like the cold. Saw somewhere, maybe it was on this site, about a jump in the Arctic or Alaska or something like that. Very nice looking image of snowcapped mountains. And yeah /agree on the waiting on the buying thing especially if you haven't done it before. You're liable to get up there for the first one and be so terrified that you don't wanna do it again, however unlikely most of us here would find that. -
Depends on who's available at the time.
-
They never woulda got me out of the plane on the first jump if it wasn't a tandem.
-
Why under 30? What are you trying to say here? No, I'm not 30, but I will be very very soon and since I just got started in the sport, I'm not considering the fact that I'm supposed to be past the some invisible line that says I can't be as good at it as I could have been 10 years ago..

I definitely see that the hand could resemble fire, but the first thing I noticed in that pic was a nice lookin chick drinking a beer.
