What about the guide rings on the risers? Do you levae the lines out of those? If so what happens if you have a premature brake release? The brake my fire and hang up the slider. Well, I guess this is skydiving. If that happens you can just cutaway huh?

Hey Matt, You'll get out of the hospital and start reading all the posts you've missed soon enough! Until then, heal well brother!! Russel -

Hopefully he'll get as cute of a physical therapist as I got when I was in the hospital with my broken femur! -

Seconded. Somebody needs a carrot. Ditto on both the carrot and the request for contact info, such as address. -
Seriously, because you USUALLY look like shit!

Uuuhhhhh....have you looked a couple of threads down!?! Here

I would follow Jaap's suggestion of using masking tape. I've heard the differential stow doesn't work as well as a tailgate or masking tape. I used it once and ended up with a self clearing line-over. See attached. Edited for spelling

Is it just me or does it seem like there have been a number of object (mostly cliffs) strikes in the last year where many of the people have ended up with very minor injuries if any at all? Is there a reason for this or are we all just in a lucky period?

MILES D - TWIN FALLS PERSON OF THE YEAR!

And what most people realize is that those who do the hard work are usually too busy to seek notoriety. It's the day-to-day stuff that keeps everything going over the long term, not the brief flashes of grandiosity. Tom does what he does for BASE, which is not going to garner much attention from the town, but which does deserve to be honored by those in his own community--this one. I second that! -

No. The people who attacked Scott's mother's post got told unequivocally that she is, in fact, his mother. She didn't know anything about this, and there was no reason to focus on her. YES!!! That's it rl, thanks! -

You forget that "Mike" has still not told anyone where the body is! Even after two phone calls. I can't believe this was part of the pact!! -
Huh!?! 50 jumps, still using student gear, waiting to learn to pack when you have a smaller canopy? What the hell happened to skydiving in the last 5 years I've been out?!?!

I agree with most of what you said. I just wanted to point out the fact that I think these pacts are only if the person is already dead, not if they are injured or dying. -

I totally agree with you on this one. I wouldn't leave anyone behind. I was just stating that some people plan it that way and this seems to be one of them. Like I said before, the anonymous caller could have at least said where it happened! The plan just wasn't executed very well. Edited for spelling. -

Whether people think it’s a good idea or not some people have a pact to leave the killed jumper behind and make an anonymous phone call. The problem here is that the anonymous phone call wasn’t very informative. I think that is the BIG problem people are having with this one. -
I pulled into my driveway right as I hung up the phone with you. Good timing!

I love you too brother!

I've got 23 water landings. Is that a lot? They were all BASE jumps and most of them were into very still water. About 5 or 6 were into a river with rapids. I landed close to shore where the water wasn't flowing as fast. It's really not that difficult or scary. I've had the canopy fall over my head twice. At first it scared me but then I realized it wasn't a big deal and I got out of it. Dependent on your flare technique the canopy will either drop down behind you (if you flare into a head wind) or it'll over shoot you and fall in front of you (usually if you're landing with a tail wind). It's actually pretty hard to get it to fall right on top of you. I just sit there in my harness, nothing loosed or unbuckled and I wait for the boat to come pick my sorry ass up!

What if you had to give up skydiving?
pBASEtobe replied to AFFI's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
Maybe, but he could always BASE jump like me! -
Ok, in the third one the voice says, "Please put on your seatbelt." And then the two kids start looking for the belts.
-
The first one is kind of dumb. The voice just says "Welcome to the Universal Studios free photo booth. One person at a time please." That's it. Ok, who's doing the second one? edit to add: Doh!!! someone beat me to it.
