And to think, all it took was a brutal 4 year war with many hundreds of thousands of deaths that still divides the nation. A nation that still cannot manage to pass the ERA.

I would propose a slogan or at least a theme for Harris. "Moving America Forward" Putting an emphasis on leaving some of the chaos behind. Kind of the opposite of maga. Framing Trump as a man of the past.
-
I don't know if I said that here, but I certainly believed that. My prediction record is about 25% correct.

I was going to comment about poor turnout in national election for the US. But maybe I'll just bite my tongue because it is actually almost identical to Canada's at about 63%.

When in reality Bishop Grandin was a force behind the residential school system that did so much damage.

Harris will be the nominee and will ignite excitement within the party and the electorate. But maybe not in the crucial swing states leading to the possibility of a historic popular vote lead and an electoral college loss.
-
Winnipeg recently changed the name of a major road from Bishop Grandin to Abinojii Micanah. The local right wing is losing their shit over it.

I know what you mean. Sometimes I fill that role here.

Optimum 113 DOM april 2008 maximum weight ?
gowlerk replied to eric.fradet's topic in Gear and Rigging
I'm sure you are well aware of what those numbers mean and where they come from. Who to trust? Hanging either 220 or 254 lbs under a 113 sq. ft. 7-cell non ZP means that if anyone uses it they will need to be fully capable of flying it and landing it. If they are incapacitated in any way, or untrained or inexperienced they are taking a large risk. The manufacturer is not lying. -
And the voters say........he must go.

I simply mean to say "don't overthink it". Of all the decisions you have to make when buying a new rig this one is the least critical.

The man had a clear shot and missed from a relatively short distance. Obviously the deep state is not what it used to be. It’s lucky for Biden that SCOTUS has already given him immunity. This is where the MAGA world is going to take this event.

What will be the Result of a Trump Win After Jan 20th
gowlerk replied to Phil1111's topic in Speakers Corner
I’m not sure why some people here think Harris can’t win. Biden did not win last time on a pro-Biden wave. He has never been terribly popular. He won as the anti-Trump. And he could do it again if he was not several years past his due date. Hell, Hilary even came close to beating Trump. Why do you think a D nominee must be popular to win? I see that she would just need to be not hated and be competent. -
For sure Biden would get a lot of votes. But quite a few people will just stay home. And as I’m sure you recall Trump nearly beat him last time around.
-
Roadworthy and airworthy are pretty much incompatible with each other. Your dream may come true in a limited sense one day. But the vehicle will not be very good at either mode.
-
Not only that. There are bound to be more stumbles along the way between now and the election. It won’t get better, just worse.
-
Biden has to bow out. Stating that he will not run if nominated. There will be some sort of floor fight at the convention. It will be very messy and may damage the eventual winner beyond repair. The nation may reject the nominee and split between RFJ and whoever leaving Trump to win. This is a time of great uncertainty.
-
Yes, even then the US will continue to lead and drive the world economy. Maybe even more so.
-
I’m still clear that the US economy is and will continue to lead the world. Even Trump won’t change that.
-
A period of recession is likely. The exact timing is not known. It will bring the drop in interest rates you are speaking of. At a historical level the current rates are not particularly high.
-
Mostly the consumer confidence numbers being reported and the slowdown in hiring. Spending is slowing the last time I checked. However if it does come it may not be until after the election.
-
Or more likely it becomes clear by fall that the US has fallen into a recession.

Slowest start to Atlantic hurricane season…

Paying your CC off every month is only for people who understand math. -
Every damned car I buy some government forces me to buy seatbelts and airbags and emission controls and headlights and a long never ending list of stuff that I would never spend my money on if they didn’t make me.
