DZ suggestions with pond and vacation facilities
vibeke replied to vibeke's topic in Events & Places to Jump
I posted a thread in the Bonfire asking for ideas for a dz. I will repost here, as it seems a better place. Moderators feel free to merge or move the other post -
Fallrate is a mutual responsibility. Choose your jump-partners so you have a chance. Do do tunnel and / or coached jumps to achieve a body-position change. I find with many fastfalling students of mine, that learning a correct slowfall body positition is the key. You need to be able to arch or you cant fly your body well. SURFACE AREA is everything Get baggy sleeves on your arms (you can buy them as pull-on´s). Get efficient booties (I can recommend Bevs) and get your arms and LEGS OUT INTO THE WIND. Slowfall material on jumpsuit and this being well fitted (not too tight) is an obvious need. Edit to add that the correct body position Im talking about is mantis... With arms and legs well out pushing air. Remember to stretch wrist (toes positively pointed towards the sky) like the ballerrina, to max bootie-effects. _________________________________________________________ Your success and happiness, is in direct proportions to your commitment to excellence, regardless of your chosen field of endeavour.

Its quite normal with the bounce-dreams. I have one every 6 months on average. Sometimes two or more within short time-span. I have dreamed Ive hooked in some times, but mostly I just dream of a no-pull. Something I would never do. But in my dream I just kinda "run out of time"... Not doing anything about it at first and then realizing as I crash in, that its now too late. The dreams are leftovers. Bi-products of the process of sorting days events and thoughts. You subconsciously have already boxed whatever info you needed, before the dream is made. So it just image-reflections, and not important messages. Most often you will find that bounce-dreams (also the non-skydiving related type of crash-and-burn) tends to be uncomplicated, out of context and without logic. _________________________________________________________ Your success and happiness, is in direct proportions to your commitment to excellence, regardless of your chosen field of endeavour.

DZ in itself could be run more efficient and have happier customers. But all things considered its a friendly DZ that means well. If you come self-sufficient to fun jump its a nice little DZ. Freefall University is located at the Dropzone. After having worked there one full year and two summers, I'm not too impressed. We ended up leaving because of poor management and personal difficulties with management. Our students often felt poorly treated by the owner and there was seldom help from the on-site managers. However students still left happy. The instructors are for the most part very good people and good instructors; some better than others. For students its a good set-up. Very student-minded and good social life amongst the students who stay in the nice nearby town of Aranjuez. A lot of returning former students bring the place together. Only really sad part is that my partner and I feel that the high standards of the schools education is mostly marketing and too little fact! We decided not to work at the place when things developed to the point where it became approved procedure to slack on the quality, to accommodate quantity.

Freefall University, Ocaña (Madrid) is starting up a series of tunnelcamps i Bedford - The first one scheduled for December 12th - 14th. The tunnel is coached by experienced tunnelcoaches, from the danish 4-way national team project. Come and improve your bodyflying skills, or prepare for your AFF. AFF preparation Description

A new priest at his first mass was so nervous he could hardly speak. After mass he asked the monsignor how he had done. The monsignor replied, “When I am worried about getting nervous on the pulpit, I put a glass of vodka next to the water glass. If I start to get nervous, I take a sip.” So next Sunday he took the monsignor’s advice. At the beginning of the sermon, he got nervous and took a drink. He proceeded to talk up a storm. Upon his return to his office after the mass, he found the following note on the door: 1 Sip the vodka, don’t gulp. 2 There are 10 commandments, not 12. 3 There are 12 disciples, not 10. 4 Jesus was consecrated, not constipated. 5 Jacob wagered his donkey, he did not bet his ass. 6 We do not refer to Jesus Christ as the late J.C. 7 The Father, Son, and Holy Ghost are not referred to as Daddy, Junior and the spook. 8 David slew Goliath; he did not kick the shit out of him. 9 When David was hit by a rock and was knocked off his donkey, don’t say he was stoned off his ass. 10 We do not refer to the cross as the “Big T.” 11 When Jesus broke the bread at the last supper he said, “Take this and eat it for it is my body.” He did not say “Eat me”. 12 The Virgin Mary is not called “ Mary with the Cherry. 13 The recommended grace before a meal is not: Rub-A-Dub-Dub thanks for the grub, Yeah God. 14 Next Sunday there will be a taffy-pulling contest at St. Peter’s not a peter-pulling contest at St. Taffy’s. _________________________________________________________ Your success and happiness, is in direct proportions to your commitment to excellence, regardless of your chosen field of endeavour.

Actually Im looking forward to seeing Z Hills, but I wont be there until Feb 7th or 8th. And only then if I manage to find some public transportation from Orlando. So for my newyear-jump I will be jumping through the Danish snow, in minus 5 degrees celcius.

Was there for Extremsports Veko. Had lots of fun. Great nature all around. Great DZ. Great event - setup, organising, coaching, etc., fun and friendly people :) I highly reccommend visiting it. You should go to a boogie or event there! I know they do lots of AFF and Tandems too. Only thing I never did understand was the prices for food and drinks, its very expensive! That and people choose to sleep and waste half of the day. Most days we started as late as 12.00.... wtf?!

Im not suggesting her only way of letting him know she had interest, was to fuck the guy... All Im saying is that she probably would have done something beyond holding his hand, if she wanted to show her interest. Im not saying she is not interested. Im saying that the way I interpret the described situation, she did not try to convey any passion she might have felt for him, in her actions that night. He should take initiative if he´s into her. Grue; sometimes in order to live life to its fullest, you gotta take chances! First off, the situation you describe does not indicate that she has interests in you that way. Its your wishfull thinking. However it is an indication that she trusts you and likes your presence. You say you are attracted to her? She could have interest in you, as more than a friend. However she just had an opportunity to take action, wich she did not use. I say its up to you to decide if your attraction is strong enough, to be willing to take a chance with it. Ask her out, and be sure she understands its a date. Its a great training tool. The progress of the world top teams goes to show, even beginners doing their AFF in there get a kick-start. And its so much fun!! Pure, hazzlefree entertainment. Passing fad? Not unless they build some other environment that resembles the sky more realistically. And somehow ...I doubt thats gonna happen any time soon. Tunnels rock!!

First Danish tunnel camp outside the US took place from the 1st -5th of December. Basic skills camp from 1st-5th and National team training on the 4th and 5th. We used to only use the SVO tunnel as it is near to our beloved off-season home DZ; DeLand. However this tunnel camp took place at Bodyflight Bedford. Cheap plane tickets and a short travel make it very convenient. We brought 12 camp-guests, 4 Danish coaches and two “organisers” for the camp. Many of the camp-guests and all coaches had experience from other tunnels, and they were all very impressed by the Bodyflight tunnel. We had everybody do a written feedback sheet after the camp, and everybody was very pleased with the tunnel. Especially the size of it, and the smooth airflow was given a lot of credit. It’s not only a huge advantage for 4 way, but also for newer skydivers that they have that extra space. The lounge with big screen TV w/ live tunnel-video and the service minded staff made the waits between flights a better experience than usual. The entire environment is really nice. The Danish coaches were all part of the national 4-way team project (Team A DaneZ, team B Vitesse and team C Elements). They are now all considering how to include team training at Bodyflight, into their future schedules. The Danes will be back for Basic skills tunnel camps and team training!! And I think that we will see the Danish and other Scandinavian teams using the Bodyflight tunnel a lot in the future. ...And some says size doesn’t matter?!!! A huge Thank You to Paul, Nicole, Bev and the staff. & Steve and John, XL, for some kick-ass two-on-two!!

ARms in front, like mantis, but further from your body and perhaps a bit wider. I use my arms to scoop the air and press my upper body up, when I do it. When kneeflying you generally will be slightly more bent forward, than in a sit where you have your torso in straight vertical, and you wil need your arms in front of you for balance. Key element is the way you shape your bootie really, for maximum lift. Bend your feet outwards to get full surface from bootie to work with. _________________________________________________________ Your success and happiness, is in direct proportions to your commitment to excellence, regardless of your chosen field of endeavour.

Work within the skydive industry? Only concern is you might get tired of it, if skydiving becomes "a job". Personally I will quit an amazing career in about a year, to go skydive. I can imagine nothing better than beeing payed to jump out of aeroplanes... Even if I will be making less than 50% the money I am now. _________________________________________________________ Your success and happiness, is in direct proportions to your commitment to excellence, regardless of your chosen field of endeavour.

Nice starter-blocks is the so called random blocks: 7 and 9, you can easily do them, its good practice. You have probably already done them in the tunnel, without knowing what they were called...

Yes, we went to Aerograd Kolomna last year, for a small training camp and fun. Great DZ, great people. I highly reccomend it! We were about 20 ppl total, but every year people in groups of 2 or 3 danish skydivers stay there for a few months. The staff at Kolomna helped us with the planning and the official invitations needed. We applied for visas and that was more or less it. All in all its not so complicated. And Russia is still reasonable with their jump-tickets, even though they are getting increasingly more expensive.
