Preps for the zombies are already underway... And B/C of my location AKs are weapon of choice. Of course, weapons and ammo are just one of the things to consider. There are water, fuel, meds, food, bunker... dudeist skydiver #42

Well, you were gone for couple of months. And I noticed it. (Probably because of that other coffee thread ) And I don`t know you very well... So I guess all those people that know you better would miss you even more. dudeist skydiver #42

People must LOVE their Safires!
mircan replied to Throttlebender's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
Of course, i was not serious. Anyway, as I can see, people that ditch Safires usually do that to get Crossfires. And then they are even more in love. dudeist skydiver #42 -

I just loved mine (139) while I was jumping it. Openings, flare and no hassle. I think it is for sale now, but this one could be too smallfor u. dudeist skydiver #42 -
One of my buddies has Drift. I thought of it as a nice next step from the GoPro and Contour, but it was a bit too expensive for me. Cheapest were about 300 Euros and I got new GoPro for just 180e (sold my old PC-106 and add some small $$). Big price difference... IMO, the LCD was nice and useful for quick review and camera setup; the camera was a bit bigger than I expected and the clip-on mount did not look too sturdy. Still, rubberised housing and less snag hazard are plus. Not sure if it could go so deep under water like a GoPro, but I guess it is water resistant. At a glance, I did not notice significant difference in picture quality, but then again I didn`t have the time to check it some more. Overall nice choice, but a bit too expensive (for me). dudeist skydiver #42

You saved me the typing, thanks. I`m really, really, really pissed about those things, especially 1 and 2. But all three things could be put in "I`m the only one important here" category. Oversized self-importance is on the rise these days... In skydiving: People who don`t know that they don`t know and act like know it all. dudeist skydiver #42

Wing loadings and skipping sizes

+1 View from a local standpoint... There was one incident some time ago, at a DZ which we could consider local to the OP. The instructor told the student (demanded) to be more aggressive pilot. It resulted in low turn and shattered spine. The instructor had 1000+ jumps and enough years of experience but lacked the knowledge on "modern" canopy flying. Canopy was square (not even semi-elliptical) and in 150sqft range. I`ll not name names, but the OP should really consider where he is getting his advice. There is not single trained/qualified HP canopy instructor in this country. (*classic accuracy excepted) dudeist skydiver #42 -
+1 on that. I have both CX and GoPro, two setups, two intended purposes (work and casual). I got GoPro after getting Sony and it filled all the gaps where I would not use CX. They complement each other perfectly. For me at least. my2c dudeist skydiver #42

We have couple of Equinoxes as student canopies. I think in range 260-240-220, can`t remember exactly. Never jumped it myself, but overall thoughts (both students and instructors): good student canopy, nice openings, bit sluggish on the toggles, less aggressive than PD Navigator, a bit less flare than Nav (some seem to like it more because of it). Nothing funky or bad about it. It gets the job done. * somebody said that if you burry one toggle very deep quickly, it can go line-twist on you, but I`m not sure if it is b/c of the canopy or the pilot... dudeist skydiver #42

What if I just shut the music off and keep the headphones on...what then? I ask myself the same question, but still no cop ever tried to approach me while doing this. I`m badass so I listen to the music whenever I want. Fck the system Anyway, he would probably fine me. In this country they are always right. If it would get to court, I`d still lose. Cop`s word it "stronger" at court than anyone else`s. Or maybe I could try to bribe him. dudeist skydiver #42

About a year ago, we got a law that bans usage of cell phones while crossing the street. Plus, you are forbidden to listen to the music via headphones while crossing the street. Also you will be fined if you use cell phone while driving, unless you have some sort of a "hands free" system (I paid ~75$ couple of months ago b/c of this). dudeist skydiver #42

Once I fell asleep sitting on a wooden bench. No back support. Arms crossed over my chest. I woke up 2.5 hours later, sitting in the same position (upright). For me it seemed that I only blinked. How much time does blink of an eye last??? But when I checked the time I saw that I`m missing two and a half hours of my life. At the time I was working two jobs, sleeping eight hours every two days. I endured just three months living like that. dudeist skydiver #42

They are students. Notice the big-ass rigs. And they even funneled the exit. How much freefall time from that altitude? dudeist skydiver #42

wingsuit landing without parachute project
mircan replied to profesorlino's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
Actually, there was a video of one guy jumping wingsuit from a helicopter, did some freefall and he landed it without opening parachute. He only got bloody nose if I remember correctly. Link to that video was somewhere here, but I can`t find it. Anybody else here remember it??? So, it`s already been done, stop trying -

+1. But I was nervous because of the jump, not because of the packing. I had no doubt that it will open, as I had couple of dozen packjobs before and knew the gear. And it was a round. dudeist skydiver #42

how long does this process take? I tried this on 2 to 3 minute clips and it only takes a couple of seconds. dudeist skydiver #42

Still, any info on pricing? Neos range, more towards JVX...? dudeist skydiver #42 -
OTOH if you`re interested in another "mental" movie you could watch "Shutter Island". It even stars the same actor. And is better IMO. Oh, and I remember about half of my dreams, but there are some I wished I forget. dudeist skydiver #42

Never did a base jump, but in my nightmares, when i`m about to die base jumping, it is ALWAYS almost exactly like this! I go too low, realize I`m too low, but also realize that there is nooo way enough time for a normal opening. Sometimes I pitch PC and wake up before impact. Sometimes I decide to just go in. dudeist skydiver #42
