I do that. Except for the conditions which I wrote in earlier post. I have no problems on normal days. Canon EOS 400D, stock lens, no flash. (sometimes I use built-in flash) You did not get my point at all. The problem is not in getting good photos consistently. The problem is when I am above clouds I get good exposure, but when at some point during skydive I get below clouds I get problems associated with overcast skies. For example, underexposed faces and overexposed sky. So, half of the pictures (above clouds) are fine and the other half (below - like opening shot) are not. And I can`t change camera settings during freefall. dudeist skydiver #42

Any advice on handling camera settings when conditions change during jump? For example (shooting tandems)... 1. In the plane: low light scenario, lots of backlight from the windows. 2. After exit, bright and sunny. Lots of light. 3. After some freefall, when there are some cloud coverage/overcast skies. 4. Landing shots under such sky. I had a bunch of jumps like this last season and resolved it by using Sports mode and Photoshop. I could have take in the plane shots with one setting, than change it before exit, than again after landing, but freefall part gave me a headache... dudeist skydiver #42

ANOTHER downsizing-thread..

Jumping big-ass canopies like accuracy is totally different story than flying other sport canopies. But once you`ve nailed it, you don`t ask if you can land it within 6ft, more 6 inches. -
No one wants to jump with a newbie :(

I`ll jump with you if you ever come to my DZ -
You should know. You have been everywhere.

10 years ago lost one engine at 1000ft in Mi-8. My first landing with plane. Ever. 20ish jump. This year AN-2 engine crapped out at ~6000ft. 2 tandems and myself on board. We went out calm, but fast. I even managed to do video . Now that tandem passenger was happy when we landed (in a wheat field, couple of miles out). dudeist skydiver #42

One of my friend is going there to work soon, but I have no more information. He`s TI from another DZ so we don`t meet quite often. *Maybe he is you since you did not fill your profile. dudeist skydiver #42

I use 0.5 for video, stock 18-55 on EOS 400D for stills. * I`m piling up money for wider still lens though dudeist skydiver #42

Altimeter limits/ Did I get ripped off?

What about cessna DZs like mine (in Europe) where we charge 150EUR (~200$) for tandem from 10k feet? Are we criminals too? dudeist skydiver #42 -
You`re welcome Look for 1000D. I think It is a "little" smaller and a little lighter. http://www.dpreview.com/reviews/canoneos1000d/page2.asp blues! dudeist skydiver #42

Since you already have Tonfly helmet, you can consider side-mounting still camera. Like in picture here: http://www.tonfly.com/CONVERTER_828527.html. It is little too wide for my taste though... dudeist skydiver #42

Over here in Europe, at least in this crooked country and in neighborhood, there seems to be NO drop in retail fuel prices (only minor-symbolic). At least for now. 1 litre here is still about 1 euro, which would be ~3.78 euro for 1 gallon. (4.73$). Sucks. Big time. Here, there is a pattern in price changes. Prices only go up. For example, when some commodity price jumps up (like oil), retail prices go up. But when prices at world market drop down (which is rare, but it happens, like now) retail prices stay at the same level. dudeist skydiver #42

Good luck with them (Atmogear). Although they make good quality products, I am still waiting for my H/C which I ordered back in march... Now I know they had some personel/business issues this year and that they relocated(?), and I got backup rig to jump from my dealer, and I ordered full custom, but I don`t know for how long more could I wait. Still Parachutes de France has longer wait period. dudeist skydiver #42

I jumped with this baby when I was starting. It is still used at some DZs around here. You could set it to both time and altitude (at least the one marked P). 5 seconds time or hard deck altitude which ever comes first. There were a couple of saves. Good. But the downside was that on occasion, some stupid student would develop a habit of letting himself low enough and waiting for the AAD to fire. Multiple times. I also had this thing fire at will, and it was in helicopter like yours. Opened my main as well as two others of my beginner friends that sat next to me. It was my second ride down with the aircraft... Ever. dudeist skydiver #42

what would happen if we closed down most of our overseas bases?
mircan replied to TrophyHusband's topic in Speakers Corner
Well, I passed by there about month ago and the things that I said are still there so if I`m not lying, then I must be using some heavy duty narcotics. And I`m not. It is/was small base near Brcko. In size of four football fields. Don`t know your code name for it. Maybe it was an outpost of some kind. Now it is four football fields of debries. But it is still there. What water do soldiers drink? Which food do they eat? Fuel? Do they eat kebabs? Local? Buy gas on local gas stations? Maybe on some occasion, but I don`t think so. dudeist skydiver #42 -

Hi winsor. Yes, I know you jumped Utva there, my friend Paja (Radivoj Pavlov) told me a lot of good things about you. -

Not 100% true. I know a former US base in Bosnia (although small one) that was left for the "vultures" to tear it apart. It looks like a big pile of garbage now. Sand bags, concrete walls, guard houses, wires... Maybe you paid for cleanup, and then someone just took the money and did nothing. But maybe it is because it is in Bosnia. They are second class country anyway. They won`t sue the US. OTOH I have to admit the fact that foreign soldiers bring SOME cash into the country (but not so much, I figured that US army ships their supplies from US anyway). dudeist skydiver #42 -

I`m with you 100%. Lots of people have bad attitude towards USA because of it`s "world nanny/world cop" policy. dudeist skydiver #42 -

Some pics from last weekend. Raft dive was a total fcuk-up. Of course... We jumped the passenger version which had seats in it and no exit bars so it was somewhat difficult to climb out... Plus, pilots were dicks. dudeist skydiver #42
