August 27/30 - ToraTora.nl Freefly and Wingsuit Boogie
Springbock replied to mccordia's topic in Wing Suit Flying
EXTRA SPEED !!!!! I will definitely be there, no way you are going up the plane without me ;-/ Martin Take care up there! -
To get the Blur in the Background you don't want to set the Camera to a short shutter speed, e.g. don't use the Sport Program. When the Jumper passes by you need to move your Camera with the Jumper. By doing that the Jumper will appear sharp while the longer shutter speed blures the Background. It's not easy so and expect to do some shots before you get a picture coming close to what you aim. S´WoM News - Disciplines - Prize Pool € 4000,-
Springbock replied to DarkZero's topic in Wing Suit Flying
I don't get the purpose of getting exact Wind Information. As we are doing our Sport in a natural Environment there will be always a factor of Luck in competitions. That is true for almost all disciplines, ask in the Swoop Forum for example. Martin Take care up there! -

AN-72 Boogie 2008 Date set. Who is coming?
Springbock replied to FrancoR's topic in Wing Suit Flying
I would like to thank to the MD-Skydive Team to make this event possible. I had an awesome time with the ability to learn more about Wingsuit Flying in a week as in the 2 Years before. I would have like to jump the An-72 but I am more than happy to have jump with the top Flyers of the world, therefore I do not much care of the aircraft. I hope there will be a chance to have an event like this again, even better in Cochstedt. Thanks to the organizers as they have done everything to make it an success. Its all about Flying, lets go on doing so. Martin Take care up there! -
Our Dropzone offers Stills for an extra of 30€ (50$) which goes straight to the Videoguy. I find this not to much as the Equipment is expensive and you need quiet some skills to get good shots. personally I rate Phostos much higher than Video as you can not hang a Video on a wall. Take care up there!

Here is the Video of the Helicopter stall Dave was referring to. Sorry for the bad quality :-) but it was hard to get close with my Stiletto135 to the velo90. Maby someone can make it clicky for me? Martin http://www.skydivingmovies.com/ver2/pafiledb.php?action=file&id=6471 Take care up there! -
What goes through your mind when you get injured?
Springbock replied to jigneshsoni's topic in Safety and Training
DejaVu, Last Saturday I made my first CRW Jump. It was good fun and worked well but the Canopy is somewhat tricky to Land. However, on my approach it came to my mind that I don't get that thing to Land standing so I did an impressive PLF, at least that what my fellow Jumpers told me. Getting on my feet again and walking to my Friends I then fell over the "security" Fence which holds the Whuffos out of the Landingfield. No I have 6 Weeks Pause jumping. I really don't care of what others thinking, to my mind comes only "shit happends" Take care up there Martin Take care up there! -
If in doubt, whip it out. If you are not in doubt, why would you need your reserve? When considering landing a mal main you should also be aware that things can get worse on the way down. A ripped endcell may not cause you much of a problem, but what if the next one, and the one next to this one ripp apart as well? Thats what you need to think about before you get below an altitude where you run out of options. If you are getting aware on the last moment that you smash into ground with tremdeous speed you may want to get some extra material above your head, but as someone mentioned before you can not tell if its gonna help you. Skydiving is about to react correct in time as your faults can to often not be repeated. Martin Take care up there!

Predictability of 270 degree turns: (Was Fatality - Eloy)
Springbock replied to Chris-Ottawa's topic in Safety and Training
I think that what needs to happen, is that each and every jumper must demand that swoopers land someplace else I totally agree, thats the way to go. And relatively easy for an well established Jumper at his home DZ. Harder to accomplish on a different DZ, probably impossible on a big Boogie. Than you would have to choose not to Jump when you see its not safe. Even this is the only right decision, its a tough one if you have been traveling long (often half around the world) to get to this super Boogie of your lifetime. I know quiet a bit of Skydivers who think twice about attending a Boogie, especially because of some Cool Daddies doing wild manoevers in the pattern. However it doesn't seem to have an effect on the popularity of those Events. Therefore I don't have much hope that rules for safety will be enforced more strictly in the future. Hope I am not to pessimistic. Martin Take care up there! -
As I understand the philosophy Airtec is using in their Cypres Product is to make it as simple as possible in order to work on any Jump, with any Jumper just by turning it on. Any Settings in adition to the Dropzone Altitude Offset would mean there is the possibility of misuse or confusion. Thats why there is a Cypres for Students, Tandems, Experienced Jumpers and now for Swoopers. Even I think many Jumpers are clever enough to adjust an AAD before they Jump I believe others are not. (I read in the incedent Section some Jumpers were leaving the Aircraft without having a clue about their altidude, making their AAD'S fire.) Therefore in my Opinion the Cypres is a more safe Product than the Argus for a lot of Skydivers. Martin Take care up there!

Jumping with video camera, are you ready?
Springbock replied to jeffallen's topic in Safety and Training
We are not that far away as you might think, I agree that observing a single Jump does not reflect ones skill. So doesn't the number of Jumps survived, maybe some of those were simply luck? Ups, is that a white canopy above me? Take care up there! -
Jumping with video camera, are you ready?
Springbock replied to jeffallen's topic in Safety and Training
Jump Numbers do not say a thing! I jumped 2 Weeks agao a two way belly with a Guy with 300 Jumps. He was not able to stabilize himself the first 3000 feet. I jumped with a girl having 140 Jumps, and she was much better doing than I with more than 300. I think watching out what are your Friends on your DZ doing is more important, as I know that my Friends looking after me. Ups, is that a white canopy above me? Take care up there! -
Is your Wingloading within the WNE Chart?
Springbock replied to FrancoR's topic in Safety and Training
I think this chart gives a useful rule of thumbs, but it really also depends on how you fly your canopy, not just how much wingload you put under it. One can easily kill hisself within this chart by turning low. I fly a Stiletto135 on 1.5 with 380 Jumps. I do it conservativly and I don't hook. I feel save and so do the Friends jumping with me. Ups, is that a white canopy over me??? -
Is that correct? I have never heard about this fact and I would be surprised if this is true, anyone who knows better? Ups, is that a white canopy over me???

pull at right altitude / track to avoid collision
Springbock replied to lynxie's topic in Safety and Training
Guys you know, fortunately the Blue Sky is huge, not big enough not to take Exit Separation and Tracking seriously, but big enough to take your chance on pulling well above decision altitude. I once broke off from a 4 way RW Training Jump only to see I was followed by my fellow buddy. I saw him pulling when I planned to do so and made the decision to track further. I pulled fairly low at 2000ft and found myself beyond an twisted parachute at 1500ft, thanks. That was with a fairly big and easy to handle Parachute, with a smaller and more agile one, this could have ended bad. My conclusion is to pull. Ups, is that a white canopy over me? Skydiving in GERMANY - all help would be appreciated
Springbock replied to FelipeBrasil's topic in Events & Places to Jump
Hi Felipe, If possible you shouldn't miss to jump in the Snow. I did my first jump with white Earth and Blue Sky this Year in February and it was one of my best Jumps ever. I am pretty sure you can't get that in Brazil :-) Martin Ups, is that a white Canopy above me?
