Today marks the 23rd anniversary of the passing of 'Doc' Gus Anagnostis-D-114.

And which DZ would that be Wendy ?
-
Wendy-the day of your last round canopy jump was an outstanding demonstration of a proper PLF!
-
Thanks Jerry.

Not that it matters, at this point, but what type of airplane was Ted trying to hand prop?

I have two chest reserve rides. #1 26' navy conical unmodified. It oscillated smoothly, and I touched down in an up-swing, almost a standup landing. #2 same canopy with the 4-line release added. Smooth soft standup landing in a lady's front yard.

The Ed that I know--D-37--Did a lot of jumping in Ca. back in the 60's. He is from Tx. and is now retired to Mexico.

Made a lot of jumps with these fine folks back in the late 60's early 70's. Both at the DZ in Dickenson and then in Hitchcock, TX. -
Cradock--Make me an offer on my Consew 226-head, stand, and motor. In sewing condition, located in Tx.
-
Pat-could that have been Tar Heel Sport Parachute Center around High Point, NC ?
-
Thanks for the information but, Volks Field, Hitchcock, TX. is a little too hot and humid for me. Besides I've got my own little C-182 DZ here in Stephenville, TX. now. Are you going to make the reunion in Valley Mills this fall?
-
Nice article on capewells. Thanks--and now DB is #2.
-
@ Krip-they closed around late 1984-early 1985.

You are welcome! I remember the transformers popping, and the small grass fire. Made two jumps that day myself, in between trips to Sam's club.
-
I guess that because the date of the 'event' has passed it is no longer available. There were about 25 of the Old Farts from Texas in attendance this year. Most everyone was jumping during the 60's and 70's. Some of us are still active!

History lessons for the young pups

Cheapo's or rags were called that because they were military surplus canopies and cost much less money than a brand new PC or Pap.
