C-182 crash, Texas about July 10th
drjump replied to diverdriver's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
"If the plane lost oil pressure, while on the runway" Why didn't the pilot shut the engine down, to prevent damage to the engine, and tow the plane back to the hanger? Just how 'fast' was he taxiing? -
There is a "power tool" listed on page 211 of 05'-06' Para Gear Catalog.

A few things about skydiving that need clarification

Couchs--a place for a 'quickie' with your buddy's woman while he is up on a load! -
Edited 7/14 to correct the highway #.

Jim--That was 36 years ago!!!!!!!!!! Man, have people changed. I tried, but can't help you with names. But the drop zone (Valley Mills) was along the south side of TX Hwy 36, west of Waco.

Where can I find information about theses rigs still being airworthy or not?
-
Jim, Thanks for the memories. Truly honest writing about what this wonderful sport WAS all about--FUN.
-
I was just wondering where you took your first jump course? The three ring release system should have been taught in the equipment famillarization part of your training!
-
Is is necessary to have a jumper's/tandem pax written permission to use that video for DZ advertizing?

Butler seat C-9 four line release tying instructions
drjump replied to councilman24's topic in Gear and Rigging
The "speed" picture looks exactly like the Military 4-line release used on 28' pilot rigs! The FAA used to require a letter of authorization before a rigger could install this system on an emergency rig. -
Thinking about enrolling for my first jump course!

Have you noticed the change in pitch attitude between the three shots? I wonder how close to stall speed the plane is in the second shot?
-
I think that was the start of head down flying: 10th out of a small door D-18!
-
Dave-Thanks for the reply. I've got a 1m+ jumps on my Reflex without a problem or complaint. Yes, the reserve PC does loosen up a bit. Just have your rigger replace the closing loop in the pilot chute and that should cut down on the slippage, it did on mine.
-
Dave--what's wrong with a Reflex?
-
Howard--If you look at the abandoned air fields in Ma., the photos of Norfolk still show the remains of the old pea gravel target on the west side of the runway. Geroge Anderson ran a DZ, at this field, in the late 60's and early 70's. Don Stewart D-2785

AND ANOTHER OLD TIMER IS GONE! RIP, SKIPPY.
-
Wendy--When was that "first" jump and at what airport? I remember Lewis, but as time gets older, the details fade! Doc-D-2785

How was the canopy treated post deployment? Landed in the briars and brush? Dragged along the ground back to the packing area? Left lying in the sun? All things need to be considered!
-
Sounds like a good buy, depending how much your exit weight is!
-
Just out of curiosity- why did you get stopped in the first place?

Steve-You are not alone when it comes to wearing 2 altimeters. I started with nothing but a stop watch on top of my chest reserve: ie. 3600' AGL= 10 seconds of free fall. If you remembered to start the watch upon leaving the plane! After getting my butt chewed for a low pull I added an altimaster ll. When I transitioned to a piggy-back rig the stopwatch went in the bedroom and the altimeter on the chest strap. Now, 38 years later, that original altimaster is still on the chest strap and I have added a wrist mounted newer altimeter for back up. When all else fails look at the ground. When ants look like people it is too late.
