Cross connector straps on round mains?
drjump replied to SEREJumper's topic in Skydiving History & Trivia
After market! I never saw a new PC with factory installed X-connector straps, and I sold a hundred new PC's in the 70's. -
$75.00 B4-7tu main, complete. $35.00 28' chest reserve. $25.00 first jump course- 1968-in Mass.

Check out --CuttersExchange.com--I've even found old (reprints) operators/service/parts manuals there.

I've got one jump out of Sky Dive Texas's single engine otter, in Nov. of 20000 It had the Garrett turbine conversion produced by Bobby Bishop of north Texas. More flight efficent and economical than a Twin Otter.

It is amazing what can be done vith a video camera and U-tube! If sealed properly this would not be possible.

That does not make sense! Esterwood airport is the jet port of the College Staion area. A single runway airport less than 5000' in length will not compete for comercial traffic.

Arre they still available? I want one. Don Dupont never offered me one at the Mayfair!

I don't see a deployment sleeve/bag or for that matter a pilot chute. The pilot chute might be hidden from view. I doubt that this was used for a 'main' canopy on this jump. More like a test jump.

If he hit the pea gravel and did a great PLF he probably walked away from that landing. If not next /e he had a white jump boot of plaster.

72 inches is a hell of a lot of short line!

I have never seen a 'sleeved' round emergency canopy!

Fumes? What about exposure to the gas fumes from the gas tank vent? Not good for nylon.

Would the "Mike", you speak of, be also called "Gene" Bland"?

Just bout the time Gipsy(sp) Moths movie hit the big screen.

I think the original wording said something to the effect of: No extensions below the elbow, or below the knees. The reasoning was to allow the jumper to be able to bend the elbow for ripcord pull. Early 70's late 60's.

Why jump something so complicated?

Wendy--I'm still waiting for you to come and make a jump with us at Texas FreeFall, in Stephenville. I'm thinking about a shrimp run to Kemah this w/e (9/4/10) Don
