  1. That has to be the all-time world's most DOG-ASS, NASTY LOOKING, TACKY, BUTT-UGLY rig I have ever seen. But it's your money and if you like it, then I hope it turned out to be everything you expected. Have you considered seeing an analyst about your problem? Edit: I used to have pajamas that looked a lot like your jumpsuit, I think they had feet on them and a little flap to go "poopy"!
  2. Go to http://www.skydivingmovies.com then search for "Scott Lutz"
  3. I love it when people use the English language like this. What you meant to use is the phrase "for all intents and purposes" Sorry, I just couldn't help it.
  4. I'd be willing to bet money this person went to ASC/Skyride to jump. Just a hunch, but it just sounds like it to me.
  5. But I see by your profile that you jump a PD 113, loaded at 1.95! Dude, at your field elevation in CO, or even at sea level for that matter, loading a reserve OF ANY MAKE like you are doing is about the most foolish decision a skydiver can make. Yes, I'm sure you've landed your 113 and had "no problem". But I'll bet you haven't landed it unconcious or in some way incapacitated and had "no problem". Folks, PLEASE do as Kieth says, not as he does!
  6. I've talked to several instructors who have been forced by ASC in Cedartown to do tandems until midnight. This has been done many, many times at that dz. So I'd say if there's a benefit, it is that the dz can get as much money out of a day's jumping as possible.
  7. I'm not trying to say that a program to remind you to getyour reserve repacked is a bad thing. But all I do is enter it in Microsoft Outlook Calendar with an alarm reminder, and a few days before I'm out of date...Ding Ding, it pops up on my screen. And a rigger only needs to do the same thing for all his customers. I'm sure there are lots of bells and whistles in this software being advertised, but a simple Outlook reminder works very well for repack dates.
  8. After looking at those pictures of the kittys, I suddenly realized that they look amazingly like my own children. The remarkable coincidence is that I also live very close to that same nuke plant!
  9. My answer to my wife when she asks me that is, "honey, I think I'd rather go jump" then she says, "hey, surely you remember, you jumped big-time that night".
  10. That's actually a true story...and my wife still asks me if I ever want to do another 3-way with her and a guy.
  11. Gosh, someone who registered the day they posted a "atta boy" for great service to a company that all they've done is make a phone call with questions in a pre-sale mode... does anyone else here smell what I smell? Hey Icarus, why don't you let your REAL customers give your testimonials, instead of logging on anonymously with some bull-shit like this.

    Horse Sense

I wonder if that horse usually has her "daddy" sleep with her, they just cut that part from the video!
  13. What in the world is this, some kind of new slider or something? http://www.opensofter.com
  14. No, you're not the only one who thinks this way. But people's responses are based on their perspective, not necessarily enough information. I mean, if you asked me if I "want" something for free or if I "want" to pay for it... how else would you expect people to answer a poll? And remember, the skydivers in this internet forum aren't a representative sample of the sport; this is a forum where everyone that wants to "see their name in lights" can become a somebody.
  15. For the love of JeeeeeZuuus! Enough already. Now I don't have a dog in this race, but Derek your whole deal here is just to whine about somebody else in the industry. Really! I've read through this entire thread, looking for some real wisdom, and it ain't coming from your arguments. Now, let's back up and REALLY look at the situation. First and foremost, you talk about this issue as if it's a DEFECT. IT IS NOT! The situation is about new information, information that was NOT available until recently. And now that new information is brought to light, appropriate action is in order. To lump this into the same category as the fiasco with the Dash-M Raven is wrong. That was clearly a manufacturing defect, and Precision probably handled that poorly. But in this case, a properly rigged Mirage will perform as advertised. The SB is to improve reliability in the case of less than perfect field work. Now, a little analogy for comparison's sake. AD's and SB's in the aviation industry ARE ALWAYS THE RESPONSIBILITY OF THE OWNER. Having had the "pleasure" of owning aircraft of several makes and models, I can tell you that regardless of origin or background, I've had to pay for many things that, had it been an automobile, the tab would have been picked up by Ford, GM, etc. But General Avaition, and certainly skydiving, is a TINY, TINY, industry. We are an industry of very limited resources, and one that exists ONLY for the love of the sport. Any industry analyst would agree that to be involved in this is industry is a "weak at best" business decision. But, as I just said, we do this for the love of it. I can assure you that if the owners of Mirage Systems had deep pockets, they would gladly modify all their containers on their dime. But the reality is, manufacturers in this industry are happy just to make payroll each week and hopefully be able to keep the ship afloat. So think what you will about finances, but that's the truth of the matter. BE THANKFUL THAT PEOPLE ARE WILLING TO MAKE THE PERSONAL SACRIFICES AND COMMITTMENT that are necessary to even have gear other than military surplus equipment for us to skydive with. And don't call bullshit on what I say, 'cause I know what I'm talking about. So, bitch and moan, reduce the desire for the skydiving equipment manufacturing industry to even exist, and then we'll all end up where we started, jumping B-4 containers with belly wart reserves, cause that's where your logic or demands would eventually take the sport industry. Amen ps i feel better now
  16. I've taught many people how to skydive, completely LEGALLY, without a AFF rating from USPA. You should have said "against the club rules"
  17. Since there was actually a wind tunnel used at one point, I'd say more like "stretched the truth".
  18. That picture of the model canopy in the wind tunnel was taken many years ago, and Icarus' designer mostly did that for the "photo op". He got an opportunity to use a tunnel at a university in New Zealand on one occasion. I can assure you that none of Icarus canopies' are "tested" in a wind tunnel.
  19. Seems like for maximum entertainment value that move should have started exactly 10 minutes later
  20. This is the real deal...take a nice sized carrot, then carve out a bowl of proper size about an inch from the fat end, with the bottom of the bowl being about 2/3 through the depth of the carrot. Next, take an ice pick and ream the carrot from the pointed end down to the bowl. If done properly, no foil or screen is necessary, and the wet carrot gives a bit of cooling factor to the schmoke. Like, totally organic, dude!
  21. If that's the case, then why do I see that pattern on the pictures of the Nitron on Precision's website and also Para Gear's website?
  22. How about joining the Army and sign up for jump school. Guaranteed plf practice, more than you can imagine.
  23. See this thread... http://www.dropzone.com/cgi-bin/forum/gforum.cgi?post=1332630#1332630
  24. Or, if that doesn't work, try this... www.whatkindofdumbassquestionisthat.com
  25. Lighten up, dude. I was just poking a little fun, so "relax", ok? No, I'm not chicken. I'm not chicken to say that if you want to promote yourself, your book, buy an ad and don't try to get something for nothing by talking about your latest publication in these forums! Now, put THAT in your pipe and smoke it!
