    Friday Haiku

Got a huge headache. Need some medication please. Or a big hammer.
  3. Music has always meant a lot to me, too - sometimes I hear a song and I can tell you exactly what I was doing, where I was, who was with me, the time of day, etc. just as if it was yesterday (and some of these songs go way back!). I think that's so cool that you and your brother share music the way you do. What a great thing to share with someone.
  4. Thanks for doing this - I'd like to help you in whatever way I can. I just sent you an email with some questions. -- Lois

    Doggie heaven

I'm so sorry for your loss - my doggy-girl was a similar story but I had her a few years longer - she had kidney failure when she was 8-years-old and I never really had a chance to say goodbye "properly". My heart is heavy for you. Peace be yours. I'm going to the Rainbow Bridge when I die because that's where all my buddies will be waiting for me. Then we'll just see where we can get into whatever place called heaven will let us in. If there aren't any, we'll just make our own place called Heaven and invite all of you to come along! We'll have a great time!

    Doggie heaven

I'm so sorry - I'm right there with you. This week is the anniversary of the death of my most favorite-ist doggy in the whole world - and I've had a few in my life. I think that some of our pets are closer to our hearts than others and this girly was right inside my heart from the very first moment I ever saw her. I still miss her terribly. I found an organization online right after she died that helped me tremendously, just knowing that others were grieving as much as I was, and that there were actual people willing to help me get through what I was going through. They were and still are awesome. The organization is The Association for Pet Loss and Bereavement (APLB) and they are located on the east coast. Their website is APLB - I'm sure they'd agree with me and others who've posted here that heaven will be where the dogs are! Peace be with you...
  7. A few of my favorites: Balboa Park has museums, Ruben H. Fleet Science Center (with an IMAX screen), San Diego Zoo, lots of gardens. Old Town - great Mexican food at Old Town Cafe on San Diego Ave., shops and restaurants in Bazaar del Mundo. Seaport Village - lots of shops, great seafood at San Diego Pier Cafe w/nice view of harbor, especially if you sit upstairs. The beach at Ocean Beach. Boat ride around the harbor. Coronado Island. La Jolla up the coast. There's also Sea World and Wild Animal Park. Hope you have a great time!
  8. According to the facts our local newspaper came up with when reporting this story, county-wide there are 15 Starbucks stores plus 13 licensed sites in grocery stores and other outlets. So I think I can add those together and let's see, we have 28 Starbucks locations in Clark County, Washington! Wow! Who would have guessed! Leave it to the mayor to come up with some attention-getter like smashing the mugs of the coffee-chain/empire-built-by-marketing-geniuses who've now crowned themselves king of coffee and all just to get them to get their Portland mugs off the shelves! You go, Royce!
  9. Just saw your thread - happy birthday! 23 years for me - one day at a time. Hang in there!
  10. Wow, that is sooooo cool that your mom jumped! I know she'll enjoy every jump she makes from here on out, whether it's tandem or solo. I did my first tandem in June this summer right before my 52nd birthday and I immediately fell in love with skydiving. I've continued to jump tandem probably for some of the same concerns your mom might have about going solo. But I'm working up to the solo part.... :) Tell her "way to go!!" from another mom! And better tandem than not at all, I say!
  11. Just keep working at it......that's what I'm gonna do, one jump at a time and eventually we'll get there! Have fun!!

    Snow in SoCal???

Great photos! Your dog looks like he's having fun! (My big dog likes the snow, too, but my Corgi is a bit low to the ground and when there's snow, he has a tough time finding a place to lift his leg, the poor little guy.) Enjoy!

    Snow in SoCal???

Wow, that's awesome! Kinda makes the trees/plants/ground/etc. look different, doesn't it? It's been my experience that the plants don't die unless the ground actually freezes and it's cold enough that the snow sticks around awhile. There might be a few leaves that don't make it but the snow can act as an "insulator" if the ground doesn't freeze. Hope that's the case with your garden! It would be fun if there was enough for a snowball fight!!
