  1. Glad you enjoyed your first jump and are wanting to continue. This is a GREAT sport. I, too, had trouble breathing during the freefall on my first jump (tandem) but I was told before we jumped that you can't breathe thru your mouth so relax and breathe thru your nose. Of course, I didn't at first which caused a little panic but, like you, once I figured it out, the ride was fantastic. Blue Skies! 2. I will get 30 minutes in the tunnel. The camp is from 8:30 to 5:00 so there is also a lot of instruction. Can't have too much info! I do expect it to be difficult at first but I hope that I get the hang of it quickly. I'm sure that I will be "chomping at the bits" to get back to my dz to try out my new skills. **They say you don't pay for your raisin' till you raise your own - what DID my momma do to deserve this?**
  3. I'm glad to hear that the skills will translate. I am a static line student with 8 jumps who is having problems with gaining stability (probably still just nerves) and I am hoping that the tunnel will help. I am scheduled to attend the camp on Saturday in Orlando. **They say you don't pay for your raisin' till you raise your own - what DID my momma do to deserve this?**
  4. Hubby won't be joining me in the air but he will be out to watch on occasion. He created a monster that he never thought he'd have to deal with! **They say you don't pay for your raisin' till you raise your own - what DID my momma do to deserve this?**
  5. I do have great instructors that have a lot of experience and a lot of stories. They remember their first jumps and help me to laugh off my screw ups because they have all done it too. But they are diligent in helping me to learn from my mistakes. **They say you don't pay for your raisin' till you raise your own - what DID my momma do to deserve this?**
  6. Thanks for the encouragement! I am looking forward to figuring this out sooner rather than later. Hopefully the weather won't be too much of an issue. **They say you don't pay for your raisin' till you raise your own - what DID my momma do to deserve this?**
  7. I am looking forward to an "uneventful" jump, but learning early about the stuff that can go wrong will help me to be a better skydiver later. **They say you don't pay for your raisin' till you raise your own - what DID my momma do to deserve this?**
  8. Hi all! Just wanted to make a quick intro. My hubby got me a tandem jump for my 40th birthday. I finally got to go on September 4th and I was hooked! 2 Weeks later I signed on for the S/L course and away I went. My first jumps went well but I didn't hit the dz, but the cornfield was a good alternative(?). I made it to my first rip cord pull and it didn't go well. Poised exit went well but apparently I dipped my shoulder so when I pulled, I was on my back. Nothing like watching the pilot chute come up between your legs! I got tangled up in my lines and was upside down until I could get myself out, which I did and then enjoyed the ride down. Hit the dz and landed on my feet. All was well except I hurt my shoulder and haven't been able to make my next jump yet. I am looking forward to getting back even though I am a little more nervous than before. Fortunately, I am more determined than ever to get this right. I will keep you updated on the success stories! **They say you don't pay for your raisin' till you raise your own - what DID my momma do to deserve this?**
  9. Congrats on the successful jump! I also started on the S/L and my first RCP didn't go well. I was on my back when I pulled and I hurt my shoulder. I haven't been able to jump yet since then (2 weeks ago) and it has kind of unnerved me a bit. My instructors have been very encouraging and I will get back to it as soon as I can but it makes you step back and think about what you're doing. Good luck! **They say you don't pay for your raisin' till you raise your own - what DID my momma do to deserve this?**
