  1. I managed to dodge the flu, despite spending several hours in the car with you coughing and spluttering.
  2. Are you sure its not 50 jumps since the canopy was relined?
  3. Oh, come on. Try some helicopter exitz. I swear even those are not so simple I jumped out of an Iriquois at the recent War Memorial open day... unfortunatley it was parked firmly on the ground at the time. Freefall was short - sub terminal, landing was good - stand up, with no flare...or parachute.
  4. Maybe you need some new goals in the sport, try Birdman or something like that. But in the end if you are questioning why you keep jumping maybe you do need a break.
  5. From personal experience after doing 4 Hop and Pops at the end of my AFF then doing a full height jump straight after, the full height felt like a harder opening. But I certainly don't have the experience to provide you with an answer.
  6. I know EXACTLY what you mean. The most common time it strikes for me is the night before I am going to the DZ. I have been trying valerean root pills. I find they work great if you are relaxed, just not sleepy - but on nights like you are describing I could munch them all night and they won't help. I might try melatonin some time. A girl at the DZ said manderins have an oil in them which is good for insomniacs.
  7. About to get a new job, their head office is at the Airport. Once day light savings comes back I should be able to do some after work jumps here and there.
  8. Jari from Birdman recently made a trip down under. Although he was a bit under the weather he was able to appoint 2 BirdMan Chief Instructors, Greg Cox and Neil Fergie. They also made a trip up to Picton where they ended up getting about a dozen bird people into the sky (although Fergs managed to injure himself before even leaving the house that day, he was still able to get in the air ). I'm sure the photos will be in the next ASM. And now Fergie.. your famous! http://www.bird-man.com/?n=News&id=756 http://www.bird-man.com/?n=News&id=755
  9. I love the skyvan at my DZ. Its fast, roomy and a nice big back door to setup exits. Fun to do flips out of too. Though it can be intimidating for a student walking up to the big door looking down at the ground.
  10. I think it can be overly sensitive, but I guess some words should not be used to market products, but again it depends on the product and the angle of advertising used. In Australia the term ANZAC (referring to the Australian and New Zealand Soldiers of World War 1) has great limitations on its use under changes made in 1921 to the War Precautions Act Repeal Act 1920.
  11. Have you recently added any plants or anything else containing large amounts of water to the area around the access point? Water is the biggest killer for wireless signals. Microwaves will also kill the signals. In Australia the best channels to minimize interferance are 1, 6 and 11. Not sure about other countries. It may be that your access point is faulty...
  12. I've always had a pro-track since coming of student status - takes the guess work out.
  13. :9:0 Did a 4 way intermediate rel work weekend. It was great! Learned heaps, turned lots of points and most importantly had lots and lots of fun. It was also great to have a camera flyer on the jumps and get the jumps debriefed. For the new people, the numbers are humps : jumps : beer owed. Humps can be replaced by something important or monumental.
  14. It sure can, the procedure is in the manual. You have to set the warning altitudes to a certain setting and a hold a few buttons down for 5 seconds in a particular menu section.
  15. The same thing happened to the guy in this video http://www.enxpress.com/index.php?subaction=showfull&id=1106949444&archive=&start_from=&ucat=1&
  16. Psycho packing is also known as Precison Packing http://www.precision.aero/extreme_pack.htm
  17. In New Zealand there is no age limit on tandems (so I hear). As for getting an A licence, it certainly depends on the kid but you can say that about anything. We can't drive a car until 16 and get your licence at 17. Some kids could start earlier, but some couldn't.
  18. In most places, by law, the cop must show you the radar gun if you ask for it. That alone will be grounds for dismissal. However becareful how you talk. If you say "He wrote me a ticket for 30 over and I was doing 5 over" you have made an admission of guilt and you may get a lesser fine, but still better than the one issued.
  19. I have a sabre 170, and I think its fine, but I don't have much to compare it to. I have never had anything close to a hard opening, I psycho pack mine - maybe that helps too.
  20. I've been using two for a while, i love it. Some games have a few problems with it, mainly RTS.
  21. Too right. Unless you believe in reincarnation it'd be a good trick. You'd probably be reincarnated as a flightless bird, like a penguin or an emu - just to piss you off.
  22. You can't see their feet, they could all just be standing on the ground.
