I had a very similar thing with a girl I started seeing shortly after I started skydiving, although I never brought her to the DZ. The more she complained about it, the more I went skydiving.... I did a lot of jumps at that time. Eventually I performed an intentional cutaway. Now I am with a girl who doesn't mind, she does a lot of her own sports so she can understand it better.

I'd like to see the waiver hold up in court if the DZ allowed the jumper to go up in conditions that were clearly unsafe.

The skyhook is a very impressive addition to the resume of the man that brought us the three rings and the throwaway pilot chute. I am seriously looking at getting a Micron as my next rig, partly due to the skyhook, as well as a few other factors. I agree its not infallible. The best solution to these things is not to get yourself into that situation, but if you do end up in a bad place the skyhook MAY be your get out of gaol free card.

skydivers voluntarily quitting the sport?
Travman replied to aguila's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
Of course. I had an injury that put me off or a few months and then wasn't able to get up the DZ for a bit and then had the ski season. Afterwards I was reconsidering if it was worth it all, but once I got back in to comptetion 4-way and 8-way I renewed my passion. -
I always set up for dates as a coffee. It works well, you get to talk and if its going well you can then go and do something else after. I also always setup an escape plan. I ask a friend to call me at a specific time, if its not working I can arrange to meet the friend, otherwise I just much general chit chat and get back to the date.

A girl at my DZ lost her Z1 on a funnelled 4-way exit. It was quickly recovered. Once she put a new visor in, it was good as new

On the same day Neil Fergie did 50 jumps in Australia, I think he was finished by mid afternoon. He was using a C182 -
Running cost of Cessna 182 and turbo/turbine 206?

The PAC 750 XL is a great plane if you want power, but probably too big for what you want. Maybe a cresco (10 place) would be good. http://www.aerospace.co.nz/index.cfm?pageID=4 -
I'd talk to my doctor rather than rely on the advice of people I hadn't met.

According to the PD article, the PD Reserve was approved in 1989 and has been on sale since. So thats 17 years of sales. The R&D costs should have been covered by now so they just need to recoup costs of manufacture. Main canopies have a shorter market life, the Sabre was replaced by the Sabre 2 etc... so the R&D costs need to be covered in a shorter time frame.

Rule differences between US and UK
Travman replied to NottsTom's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
Thats interesting about reserves. A bit off topic, but the Australian repack cycle is 6 months. I have been told the repack cycle depends on where it was packed, so if its packed in Australia and you travel to the US you get a 6 month pack job, but if you get it packed in the US and come back to Australia you have to get it repacked in 3 months. Can anyone confirm this? -
From what I hear, get use to the smell or get rid of it.

A co-worker did an advanced divers course over several days. There were 15 others on the course. When the course was over they all drove back from the coast, a trip of about 2 hours and an elevation of about 2500 ft. Shortly after he arrived home he went into a deco chamber for 7 hours. No one else was affected. Deco can be a funny thing. Personally I usually jump saturday and dive sunday.

No Chill Perception in Freefall

I know when I started out, I would not notice the cold on 4-way, but I would on solo. Not sure about these days since I haven't done a solo in a very long time. -
Haha, I remember some of the early 3 to 4 ways I did with people the same jump numbers as me. Everything worked great.. and then we left the plane It was good fun, but getting coaching early on will help you develop quicker.

How do I safely travel with my new rig?
Travman replied to inyournavl's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
If your profile is correct and you are jumping a 230ft canopy, then it will probably be too big and too heavy to carry on. -
Could take a 4-way off the door. Just becareful the exit doesn't go to shit!
-
In that case you should both be clean shaven
