Does it come down if you loosen your chest strap?
-
Ram-air refers to any system that uses motion to increase air pressure. In the case of the Ram-air parachute, the suspended weight allows the cells to pressurise thus providing the aero foil shape.

I believe Fergs was using a C-182 to get to height which made things move a little slower and he did it during daylight hours rather than 24 hour period. But certainly respect to both of them.
-
It was also great to receieve the good media coverage. Its nice when a news report on TV about skydiving doesn't start with "A skydiver was killed today..."
-
Congratulations to Neil "Fergs" Fergie who yesterday completed 50 jumps in one day at the Temora DZ in NSW, Australia to raise money for several charities. He completed the 50 jumps with plenty of time to spare. Go for 100 next time fergs... or 700

Firstly, are you putting the Pro-Track into PC Mode? Secondly, the USB-Serial adapter may not be compatible with the interface.

I was riding my motorbike today and it sprung a rather substantial petrol leak. Needless to say the bike is now with the mechanic. However I now have shoes, socks and jeans that smell of petrol. Any suggestions on removing the smell?

Visually inspect the control board, sometimes the IC's blow. If that has happened, you need to get a control board from another hard drive that is EXACTLY the same and swap them.

I've done 140 jumps on my sabre 170 without a hard opening. I pyscho pack mine, always have and it works for me. I am always very careful with my slider. But yes the do have a reputation for hard openings.

IMHO and I am no swooper, but personally I wouldn't be attempting High Performance landings on a demo jump unless I had at least jumped the venue before and the conditions were favourable. I have done 2 demo jumps, I did one on Saturday into a very tight oval surrounded by tall trees. There was no wind, but still some turbulance about the tree height. Not enough to cause any concern, but just enough to say "this is not a DZ" Ovals are generally designed to be shielded from the wind buy tall tress close to the perimeter. I heard of one of Australia's top swoopers doing a HP on a demo and as he slid it in he broke his ankle. He waved to the crowd walked off the field, into the car and straight to the hospital.

Should D license requirements be changed?
Travman replied to Croc's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
Although I don't know the specifics behind the thought processes at the time but I guess this is the reason Australian licences go to F. The requirements for F include 1000 jumps, very tight accuracy and a night jump. I know at least one E licence jumper with multiple thousand of jumps but hasn't done a night jump, many others sit on E because of the difficulty in doing the accuracy requirements. -
skydivings impact on your relationship
Travman replied to fpritchett64's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
I am onto my 4th girlfriend since I started jumping (first 3 went in the first year) When I started I was fairly new into a relationship and we just drifted apart as I spent more time jumping, lasted a few months into the sport. The next girl HATED jumping. Always complained that I wasn't spending enough time with her and that I could get hurt (which did happen at one point). I always told her I was a skydiver when she met me and it actually made me jump more because I wasn't going to put up with her crap about not jumping. Needless to say that lasted about 4 months. Next girl didn't care too much about jumping, but I just didn't have enough time to put the effort into the relationship. So it just died out. My current girlfriend I met whilst I was grounded for a couple of months with an injury, which made things easier in the start. She also loves her sport (except its cricket, soccer etc) so warned me that she can be pretty busy on weekends which was music to my ears. Thats been going on for 7 months now. Its been helped with winter so I am not jumping as much at the moment due to the ski season and work. Into summer both of our sports will pick up again and hopefully it will work out. I was never really interested in finding a skydiving girlfriend because skydiving is my release, a change to get away from everything and have fun. -
The latest issue of Australian Skydiver Magazine has a story about a guy who collided with another jumper on a wingsuit jump which knocked him out and sent him into a steep dive. His cypres fired and the force of the opening fractured his C2 to 6 vertebraes and split the body of his C7 (spinal cord OK!!!). His reserve stayed on windline and he landed softly. He is taking a year off jumping to heal.

I had the same thing, usually out of the Skyvan, always flipped on exit. Just took time. I'm sure you'll get better, just need to get up there and keep trying. See if someone can video your exits.

I have heard of pilots chewing gum to help equalize their ears.

Society and Skydiving Related Injuries
Travman replied to scaryshari's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
I've been injured in just about every sport I've done (I'm up to 21 stitches, and only 1 of those is from skydiving), so my friends weren't too suprised when I got injured skydiving. I just showed them the photo of my face covered in blood. -
Mine has chest rings. I pack mine with the lines to the reserve (this is on normal jumps) because the bottom flap is so short. I was told to do this by several voodoo owners, and one of the owners of Parachutes Australia. So far it hasn't caused me any problems.
-
They were handing them out a few months ago at my DZ. Keep it in my jumpsuit pocket now.
-
I have a voodoo. Yet to do a wingsuit jump, but never had linetwists on this container. Do you pack with the lanes at the bottom of the container or at the reserve?
-
I've done 120 jumps on my Sabre 170. It has a standard slider, openings can be quick, but never had a slammer.
-
I think there is a Wingsuit hand book written by fergs. I believe its 200 jumps in 18 months or 500 jumps to able to take a first flight class.

Unpack it after track off

It's almost time....World Meet 2006, who's it gonna be?
Travman replied to GQ_jumper's topic in Relative Work
Australia will amaze everyone and blow the competition away!!! Either way... go OZ! -
I have always psycho packed my Sabre 170. I have not had a hard opening that far, with over 120 jumps on it. And thats an original Sabre!
