  1. I have seen in the last 10 years several things that happend with AAD's. My own Vigil was suddenly on OFF mode. Never had an explanation for that. Also Cypress had problems. What's happening now it in my humble opinion... bullshit. If this happens in the private industry... sorry, it doesn't work like that in that world. There is no proof only suspision and what's happening now is that you are trying to kill a AAD manufacturer and a lot of skydivers are grounded. If it was possible to submit a complain I would do it! Vigil had problems with cutters, cypress had problems with cutters... they ALL could have had a deadly result.. none of them have been grounded!!! - Two canopies out can kill somebody - pre-activation of an AAD (like happend in more than one plane) can kill somebody and even more then one person - activation of an AAD during a high performance landing can kill somebody - and a lot more... NEVER one of the two other brands have been baned! No opinion about a specific brand here... just making conclusions like professionals in the industry do. What's happening here is UNPROFESSIONAL! There, after several weeks, I said it.
  2. During that time I also owned a Mirage and also had to make that change. Even afterwards a new pilot-chute for the reserve because the other one was not forseen for this change, so the closing flap of the reserve would stick out... The issue with the steel ball is possible with all brands of AAD's. Is this a design flaw of the cutter or is this a design flaw of ALL rigs?Since the introduction of AAD's nothing much has changed on the design of the rigs, still the same grommets on closing flaps wich makes it possible to enter things, like that steel ball, in the reserve container. So should we ban all brand of rigs now?
  3. Design flaws?...Says who?? With a V-shaped cutter it is even easier to block the loop if there would be foreign object. You create a konus... just try it with a funnel.. put a rope thru it, then small rocks and try to pull the rope down thru the funnel.... see what happens. every AAD has his problems if you check history. Not that I defend Argus, I still think that Vigil and Cypress are also good AAD's. owned al of those brands. My choise for the Argus was because how it works in swoopmode. Nor Vigil or the Cypress-speed have that and with the Cypress speed you have other disadvantages. I read the document of Kirk Smith (also the part 'what's going on with Vigil and Cypress), Interesting!
  4. Guys, don't know if you tried but that little ball on those pictures is small enough to even fit in the cutters from Vigil and Cypress. I owned a Cypress, Vigil 2 and now Argus. Do you guys know why Vigil for example put the plastic insert on there cutters? Have you guys forgotten that Karel Goorts was one of the owners of Vigil in the past? Let the people who are doing the investigation do there job.
  5. Luckely it's been noticed during repack! Do they also need to ban the Cypres2 now?
  6. Argus is not banned in my rig, but Argus is banned in Belgium and the Netherlands wich makes it even more difficult
  7. Any news about the Argus ban? Since the ban was so sudden... I would expect that PIA would inform skydiver with an Argus since they are on the ground at the moment. So please, is there any more info yet?
  8. Video's are on youtube Not from myself. I only have an Argus in my rig My previous AAD was a Vigil2. Also with this AAD the cutter had to be replaced by the one with plastic housing due to a service bulletin (read problems with the productionprocess of the cutter)
  9. I'm not going to open my reserve to take a picture of the cutter Is this better? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TmNhTEnp0LQ and http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RIiDp7bVOYE&feature=related
  10. When installing the AAD or during the last repack it should be noticed by the rigger. Espacially when you put the loop thru the opening of the cutter. This in combination with the indications in the original report of this incident that raised questions about the maintanence of this rig. They should remove the ban. Here you can see the cutter of Argus: http://www.chutingstar.com/media/catalog/product/cache/1/image/900x900/9df78eab33525d08d6e5fb8d27136e95/a/r/argus-1-pin-cutter.jpg
  11. No matter what brand of AAD you have, with the reserve pin on top you always have an extra risk if you put the cutter on top. even if this risk is very small. It's electronics and nobody can say that it's full proof and 100% safe. I never understood the descision the move the cutter on top. (I now why they did it but never understood that descision)
  12. The position of the slider makes a great difference when packing a Velocity. Therefore you have the snaps on the VC90. They are also available for the standard Velocity. When I compare the openings from my old Velocity 90 and my new VC90. Openings are the same. Maybe a little bit softer on the VC90. Cya, Lucke
  13. Velo VC90. Rear risers and I pull my legs up. Depending on windconditions 1/2 brakes
  14. Rebel T1i? Why does the label on the canopy says Sabre2
  15. My previous reserve had the same colours as that Spectre

  18. I have three Argus'es and I'm very happy with them. Two are from 2007 and one from 2008. No issues with them at all. My girlfriend has one of them and she also has no issues. The broken cable issue from Vigil2. Also happend here. broken connection causing bad contact in the unit. Also saw several times broken screens on the Vigil. Had a Vigil2 before and was also happy with it. It's certainly a good product but I switched over to Argus because they are made for swooping and waterproof.
  19. My wingloading: 2.48 Canopy: Velocity 90 Initiation height for final turn: 730 feet Degrees in turn: 270 Location from the entry gate: Depends on windconditions -Start in deep brakes -Lift the brakes and grab both front risers by the loops -Pull both front risers down evenly to begin with to get the canopy in a good dive for about 5 seconds. -Slowly turn the canopy on bodyweight (harness) for the first 180°. -The last 90° is swing the canopy around on harness input witch make the canopy dive even more -Plane out using a small bit or rear riser input
  20. Yes it's correct. See attached pictures or google 'larks head knot'
