  1. With all the people posting their cool rigs all over the place, we might as well sneak a few peeks at cool-looking altimeters! Go on... :)
  2. How deep are the notches? Also, can you or someone else explain the no-sew (the mentioned earlier fingertrap) method of attaching the line to it?
  3. *bump* as I don't want to start another thread. I don't trust my memory... Can someone give me dimensions for a powertool? I have the opportunity to get them made in bulk (and, more importantly, at no cost), so I'd hate to find out later the entire set is an inch short/long :> plus I'll send you one or ten for your trouble! :)
  4. As long as we are on the subject of jumping without chutes... http://www.albinoblacksheep.com/flash/walking.php
  5. No carnage please, I've had my share this year :\ I am just stuck at home for at least 4 more months, can't really go and ask someone (and when I did, this one time, all they told me was "sink risers a few inches. wait till you are at 30 ft. let go. wait. flare.", not much in way of advice; I need to ask somebody else), so I wanted to see how it's done for myself, but looks like I chose a somewhat poor wording. :\ Oi... I'll be much obliged. A traditional, safe double front riser approach and toggle flare :)
  6. Does anyone happen to know of a video showing someone landing using double front riser approach, at a 1.2-1.4 WL? Thanks :)
  7. I once saw a canopy that spent a year in a closet, packed, and was so tight it didn't want to come out of the bag, or after it did, to spread. Pretty sure it would open slowly and softly... if a bit long :P
  8. Swaying off the topic, are there even any 170 crossbraced canopies in existence?
  9. I think the 40 repacks life span is recommended, but is not enforced, and as long as a rigger says it's worthy, you can fly that... I remember a very sad accident a year ago when the reserve plainly tore off the container on deployment due to age and wear in connecting points, but it was totally the manufacturer's fault (and the jumper's, for jumping unrealiable gear)...
  10. The official response SSK sent me was that they had no records of any death as a result of Cypres firing and causing the two canopies to entangle. However, I know of at least one. Edit: So the most risk an AAD presents is firing during the actual process of deployment if it's too low (doesn't have to be 800 ft, too -- when the D-bag makes you "stand", there's some weirdness with pressure which makes it think you are lower than you actually are). Of course, there are countless more deaths to no-pull than to entanglement. However, since AADs are mandatory here, the choice has been made for us :)
