  1. You forgot Mount Hood Meadows. Most of the skiers I used to know went there. As far as season it depends alot on when we get snow. I believe last year was one of the earliest opennings they have had which was a week or two before thanksgiving(if I remember right). Since picking up skydiving I have not gone skiing. Hey, I noticed you list Kapowsin as home DZ. Have you been out to Skydive Oregon? Kirk
  2. Ever notice TRIDEM backwards is Me Dirt. When I used the rig everyone at my DZ thought that was interesting. As a intentional cutaway rig especially for the tandem rating, I thought it was a great setup. Kirk
  3. The 200 rule really is only if you are going to have a wingsuit instructor train you. If you plan on just buying a suit and going by yourself birdman recomends 500 jumps. In my humble opinion, I really think you should be much closer to the 500 jump to start. What the experience brings is comfort in being in the air and dealling with the unexpected. Personally, I tell anyone interested in wingsuit flying this: It is the most fun I have ever had skydiving and I have been my most scared in the suit because when something goes wrong it can go wrong in a big way. There is nothing like your suit flying you to get your butt clinched so tight you would not be able to hammer a needle thru with a sludge hammer. Kirk
  4. Here is another question have you ever driven a manual transmission that shifted on the column
  5. Get big and out fly them. Always remember your legs are your biggest weapon so use them and out fly the student. Kirk
  6. I sure hope you are a troll, if not you should sell the Crossfire and get a suitable canopy for your jump level (like Sabre 2, Safire 2). You have no buisness flying a Crossfire at your level of jumps (regardless of how you feel you are doing). You have even less buisness trying high preformance landing. Oh and if you find yourself asking why to anything I have said you really need to stop skydiving until you talk to your S&TA and do a whole lot more research. Kirk
  7. Way back in the early ninties I saw Damn Yankees with Jackal openning. I have to say one of the most interesting monologs I have ever heard was from the lead singer of Jackal. He said his producer told them they needed a love song in order to sale albums so their love song was, "She loves my c*ck"
  8. One of my favorite lines in a song is from Prince, I can not remember the title of the song but I believe it is off of the 1999 disk. Jacky I am not saying this just to be nasty but I sincerely would like to f*** the taste out of your mouth.
  9. Wyat was there but the Rep was Nick. It sounded to me as if the companies had zero to do with each other at this point
  10. I realize Jyro designed most of Icarus canopies, however; I was told by an Icarus rep this weekend that Icarus and DAEDALUS CANOPIES are two different companies and are no longer connected in anyway with each other. Now may be the rep has it wrong but I am just going off of what I heard. Kirk
  11. If they are working on a new version of the crossfire I would not think they would call it the crossfire 3 since they have nothing to do with Icarus.
  12. I believe you are right that it is a New Zealand company, I copy and pasted the name(DAEDALUS CANOPIES USA ) from a post Jim Slaton had posted
  13. I try and remember what the rep told me. It is a new canopy from Icarus that has the middle 5 cells semi-crossbraced. Now what he said is the the crossbracing is more of an arch and does not go clear to the top skin but only partial of the way up. Kirk
  14. I just talked to an Icarus rep. this last weekend and he said the only new canopies the company currently has is the NEOS and their reserve which is not new but is finally TSO for USA. Also DAEDALUS CANOPIES USA which makes the JVX, GLX, GLS has nothing to do with Icarus (they are two separate companies) Kirk
  15. I try and remember what the rep told me. It is a new canopy from Icarus that has the middle 5 cells semi-crossbraced. Now what he said is the the crossbracing is more of an arch and does not go clear to the top skin but only partial of the way up. Kirk
  16. X at Six Flags has my vote too. However when I went I rode it twice in the morning then it had a 3 hour wait all day long and that was in May. Most rides anymore are just OK compared to skydiving, but X is not Kirk
  17. I personally never had to choose. I did my first tandem on my 30th birthday and was hooked. A short while later I met my future wife. I worked 2 jobs to pay for skydiving and with some luck came up with a downpayment on a house. I worked 2 jobs up until I got my tandem rating and then skydiving started to pay for its self. The working 2 jobs thing had its drawbacks as some weeks I would work 80 hours but I always took atleast one weekend day for skydiving. My wife and I always had an agreement that my second job would end when I got my tandem rating. Now I do tandems 1 day a weekend with throwing a few fun jumps in and the rest of the time I spend with the family. Kirk
  18. I would think a collapsed slider would be a nightmare to deal with (just think about the draw strings in the slider getting tangled up with the suspension lines). What about having a mess slider made? Kirk
  19. According to Icarus, the sizing issue only applies to the orginal Safire and the Omega. Which means the Extreme fx, Extreme VX, Crossfire 1, Crossfire 2, Safire 2 & Omni do not have the sizing issue.
  20. FYI I e-mailed Icarus and explained that this had been talked about here and if they could give me a reply that I could post so here is Icarus's reply The Safire-1 and the Omega are measured differently to PD canopies. As a rough guide a Safire-1 or Omega is about the same size as the next size down - eg A Safire 149 is about a 135. A Safire 119 is about a 109. Use an equation of 8%. The Safire-2 and Omni (Omni supercedes Omega) are measured the same as PD. All other Icarus Canopies are measured the same as PD. The reason for the difference is due to Precision measuring their canopies differently. Icarus have always measured the same as PD however when we originally commenced in the USA, Precision were building parachutes for us under license and were doing it using their size equations and not Icarus/PD's. We have therefore had to wait to supercede these models to change the size equation. Only the Safire and Omega were affected. 21. There is quite a few improvements from the Crossfire 1 to the Crossfire 2. The Crossfire 2 has a longer recovery arch ( in my Crossfire 2 130 it had about 60 feet longer recovery arch from my Crossfire 1 129 if I remember correctly). Also the front riser pressure on the Crossfire 2 is about half of the Crossfire 1. Lastly, the Crossfire 2 is much more hip input sensitive. Kirk
  22. Yes, I used match.com. It was very successful. I met my wife, we have been together for 6 years and married for 3 years. Kirk
  23. All of the original Safire's are appox. 8% smaller than the stated size regardless of who made them. Also the original Safire is supposed to have a longer recovery arch than the Safire 2 Kirk
  24. So what are some of the changes in V2 over the V1?
  25. In about a month I am going to order a new wingsuit. I am currently leaning more toward the Skyflier 06 but would like the opinion of anyone who has flown both. Currently I have a Skyflier 3 Thanks Kirk
