Bill no coincedence with the numbers, just a great story that involves some of the early skydiving history when things were much more close and personal. Gary was such a big part of the New England skydiving scene that it is hard to imagine what its going to be like without him. He helped me when I was still a tadpole and just getting my jump legs and was always helping anybody and everybody. Throughout his entire ordeal he was upbeat and positive. Life gave him a shit sandwich and he managed to to have a bright smile while eating it. Blue skies and warm breezes Gary, save me a slot.

Is that your husbands car?

Why push for legalized sheep marriage? The best thing about sheep (and dare I say other livestock) is that they never pressure you (ewe) for commitment.

I used to jump at one. Pepperell, Ma is all female owned. Same as all the other DZO's out there.

Genreal reply: I presently live in cable country. Almost everyone I talk to has cable. Make that everyone I talk to. I don't really feel that I need TV in the house, but I really enjoy watching the Red Sox play. Its an illness around here. I should be getting counseling or something. That would be the entire reason for getting a satellite hook up for me. The area I am moving is 1 mile out of town and has absolutely no extra services. No sewer, water, cable, gas, broadband of any kind etc. I knew about it before hand so I am not really in a position to bitch. Its just going to take a bit of time to adjust to the new surroundings. That and the fact that I have lived in the same house (same room) my entire life (42 years). Thanks to all who responded and shared their thoughts and opinions. Would've replied back sooner but this site is blocked at work. Ed

The new place has an antenna so I don't even have to buy one. But for $50/month it would only buy "almost" 2 jumps.

I am moving and will no longer have access to cable. Its not that big of a deal but if I go with satellite tv which one of these is better? Anyone out there have any personal experience with either of these two. I have heard that DirecTV has a lot fewer problems with snow, rain, and clouds. Any opinions appreciated. Ed

I have never washed any vehicle that I have owned. Including aircraft. Don't see the point. Its not like they sweat and get body odor.

Make sure they both have a place to call their own. Introduce them in a community room type setting and don't force the issue. Don't allow them alone unsupervised for a week or so. You can also by a hormonal type plug-in (Feliway? or something like that) that flood the area with good cat vibes. Works up to about 600 sqyare feet from what I remember. Each will need its own litter box and eating area for a while. Swapping toys is a good idea swapping litter boxes sometimes works and sometimes lead to inapropriate elimination habits if you know what I mean. Some cats click other never do and some take quite a while. Thanks for adopting and good luck. Ed

No x 4. My plan is to let someone else figure out this shit. If they don't do something with my remains then I'll just end up rotting in place. Not my worry at that point. I don't think anyone would actually notice for quite a while. Ed

The soundtrack really brings the whole site together. Can't get enough good accordion music I always say. Ed

About $20. Of course that is in larger cities and truck stops. You usually can spot them by there "mating call". "hey there, do you want a date"? Rent by the minute, its cheaper.

I probably should have said "staff with benefits". I can tell the temperature of the house just by the number of cats on me. Saves on the heating bill. Ed
-
Cats are like that. Once you prove that you would make good "staff" they are more than willing to let you keep it up. Ed

Neither do I. It was just something I thought of. Granted, here in the States it would be an almost automatic guilty verdict for the victims (at least up here in the northeast). I have done a bit of research on what is allowed as pertaining to deadly force and found out that there are a lot of horror stories out there concerning the victims being prosecuted after. I hope that doesn't happen in this case. Sounds like they were doing a public service to me. Ed

Really cute pussy you've got there Mister.

While I hope they aren't charged.... In most places (granted S.A. is not most places) you can't chase someone down, kill them then claim self-defense. Usually you have to have no other way to preserve your safety. I hope they get away with it though. Ed

Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr--I *hate* the holidays!!!
scrublink replied to waltappel's topic in The Bonfire
I think you took part of my reply out of context. I am a man and that is why I choose not to celebrate any holiday whatsoever, especially with my "family". That was the point I was trying to make to Walt. Just say no. Fuck the family and anybody else that thinks you should pretend to like this shit. Or you should just do it for the sake of the "others". I believe that any gathering that someone is pressured into attending (whether its internal pressure or external) is not worth going to. Fuck the holidays. -
Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr--I *hate* the holidays!!!
scrublink replied to waltappel's topic in The Bonfire
Walt, I can relate to the hating of holidays. I haven't celebrated the holidays (thanksgiving-christmas period) since I was about 12 with a couple of exceptions. A couple of times I thought I would fake it for the sake of "wedded" bliss etc. That usually ends with me telling people to go fuck themselves straight out and no mincing of words. I don't wish to deal with these people the rest of the year and now I am supposed to pretend I like them? I have found that in the last 10-15 years the best thing was to tell people that "I have other plans" or that "I have to work". Yep, I lie to them. Keeps me sane and probably keeps the bastards safe as well. I think its time for you to just say no. Don't cave in, don't go anywhere, don't invite anyone to your place. Just say no. My blood pressure no remains at a comfortable level throughout the year and yours can too. Ed -
This one actually happened. I spent a bunch of time looking for a link but couldn't find an article about it. IIRC the police cornered a career criminal in a house. He went into the garage and managed to decapitate himself (unsure if complete job or not) with a chop saw. Guess he stuck his neck in and got it going then slammed it down on himself. A for effort. A for creativity. F for messy.

I am still calling this period "late summer". The next season is autumn for me. Ed

How long has it been since you updated your profile?
scrublink replied to jtval's topic in The Bonfire
I can't recall ever updating it. I am sure I have at some point though. -
Between 5 and 10 minutes. Drogue in tow deployed reserve as soon as I realized I couldn't free it. Long cold ride. Ed

Cool photo. Wonder how they managed to capture so much detail of the earth without blurring the shuttle? Maybe due to the vacuum of space or something? Ed
