obviously you're way more experienced than me. ANYWAY whatever YOUR high experience is, where you under MY canopy spinning right to the ground ? just to be more precise : the right toggle never left its place on the back riser only the upper part was out. so when i was looking at them the 2 toggles were looking exactly the same ... and if i was in the same situation again, i probably will do exactly the same which is called : stay alive to be part of the next load and finally get back home to give a bg hug to my son and wife ... everybody got the right to make his own choices no ? -------------------------------------------------- I never used 2 rocks to start a fire ... this is called evolution !

Saturday, July 22 i boarded the first load of the day for a 2 way freefly, weather was excellent everybody was smiling by thinking of the great day to come. we exited at 13600 and i had my best freefly jump to date, docks, transitions, spock ... really smooth at 5000 we breaked off and go for a nice sweet track. at 3600 i pulled and have an opening a little bit harder than usual but nothing serious. suddenly my Hurricane rushed to the ground in a vertical spin turning on the left, i tried to correct it with my right back riser, nothing happened and the speed was increasing. i was analysing what was wrong ... all i saw was that the right side of the chute was looking wierd and finally at 1800 i cut it ... protrack says that i was safe under my reserve chute at 1600 ... what a feeling ! in the urge i've lost the cutaway handle, i was sure that i would need to pull it the stronger i can ... when i saw it go away i thought F*** !!! i got back my free bag and chute around 1 hour later. then we looked at the main and finally found the malfunction : the right toggle had released the right break line DOH !!!! anyway i don't have any regrets to take this decision, at the moment i was spinning i didn't see this and the ground was coming really fast so ... beer was excellent at the end of the day ! and my rigger loved his Jack Daniel's bottle thanks again Stef, your reserve packing was amazingly quick and soft ! cheers PS : my main is a hurricane 150 loaded at 1.4 -------------------------------------------------- I never used 2 rocks to start a fire ... this is called evolution !

i'm jumping my 2k composites FF2 for more than 120 jumps now : never had any problem with it, comfort is second to none, the cam is perfectly fixed in it (velcroless) and nothing can snag in it ... expensive ... yes ... but on the long run it's the best ... -------------------------------------------------- I never used 2 rocks to start a fire ... this is called evolution !

Have you ever jumped with a knee brace?
kefran replied to RkyMtnHigh's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
i jump for one year now with a Donjoy knee brace, articulated carbon-kevlar. after tweaking badly my left knee while exiting the cessna ... it's really OK and make no difference appart of keeping my knee aligned and giving me the ability to run when landing -
i have 2 big titanium screws in my left knee (due to motocross fun) tibia one is 6cms long and femur one is 8cms. they told me it was better for me to keep them for the rest of my life unless i suddenly feel some pain from them .... well .... somwhere it begans parts of us i guess and scars ar here to remind us i don't know about the whole bone ones, but surgeon told me that,in my case, if i break the screws for my knee i won't be able to recover more than 30% (unless i get a complete new knee ... ) -------------------------------------------------- I never used 2 rocks to start a fire ... this is called evolution !

just add a new video track over the existing one, write down whatever you want in it (depends of which software you're using) and then adjust the opacity. cheers -------------------------------------------------- I never used 2 rocks to start a fire ... this is called evolution !

got the same problem once with WMM, it finally turns out that i wasn't zoomed in enough on the timeline so i was loosing sync just because my song start wasn't placed anymore under the right frame .... i had to cut the song where i needed to be able to slightly move the audio under the good spot. hope this helps !! -------------------------------------------------- I never used 2 rocks to start a fire ... this is called evolution !

Just another newbie doing a down winder, or is he?
kefran replied to skymiles's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
i totally agree, while hanging around at the DZ there's no social level involved, we are all family sharing the same love for the sky. and if Tiger can bring something to our sport it will be the best for us all ... i guess anyway that focusing won't be a big problem for him ;) -------------------------------------------------- I never used 2 rocks to start a fire ... this is called evolution ! -
Funniest / most embarrassing first jump reaction
kefran replied to pilatus_p's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
2 years ago a woman did a tandem at the same time than her son, at the moment the plane took off she begun to shout «oooh fucking shit .... oooh fucking shit» everybody was laughing in the plane then she continued all the way up to 13500 with every single known variations of the word Fuck ... everybody finally get out normally then it was her turn and the TM jumped ... did the normal freefall and once opened he eard her still shouting all the fuck she knows and this .... until she was on the ground ! her son was feeling so embarassed about his mum ... the video did its way to our yearly video compilation -------------------------------------------------- I never used 2 rocks to start a fire ... this is called evolution ! -
The age old question... under 18?
kefran replied to Zaccutt's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
atmosphair in Quéebec allows you to follow the AFF cursus as long as they have the 2 parents consentments, same thing with tandems ... http://www.atmosphair.com -------------------------------------------------- I never used 2 rocks to start a fire ... this is called evolution ! -

HeadUpFlying trying to "remove hands" looking for advice
kefran replied to NWPoul's topic in Freeflying
well, first i can tell you that your actual position is on the very good side :) now to free your arms i think that the best way is too ... forget them, have fun with a friend or 2 in the air, try to fly relative with them and suddenly you'll realize that your arms are not anymore a problem. as long as you'll think of your arms you will work on them. relax your shoulders and let your hands fly freely ... at least that's how i finally get rid of flying with my arms instead of my legs ;) have fun ! -------------------------------------------------- I never used 2 rocks to start a fire ... this is called evolution ! -
hi guys, just to know : does some of you use a polarizing filter at the same time than the wide angle ? would it be a good idea ? I think it should enhance the quality of views for those days witha lot of sun upthere :) thanks in advance ! -------------------------------------------------- I never used 2 rocks to start a fire ... this is called evolution !

i can do nothing but agreeing this ! i just jumped a hurricane 150, which is quite a real downsize for me as i was jumping a 185 zp-exe until now. i just came to my fav instructor (the one who get me out of a plane for the first time) and asked him what should i know before flying the 150. my last question was really simple and just needed a yes/no answer : «sincerely, do you think that i'm ok doing this ?» but i still didn't even tried to swoop ... i will rather first learn to land it in various conditions i guess that a mentoring system during let's say the firsts 500 jumps would be really effective -------------------------------------------------- I never used 2 rocks to start a fire ... this is called evolution !

Do you jump with an AAD? (turned on)
kefran replied to Mr17Hz's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
unless i'm doing a hop and pop i always turn my AAd on when i arrive at the dZ ... age 42, 3 years in sport. -------------------------------------------------- I never used 2 rocks to start a fire ... this is called evolution ! -
jump #132 : 3 way freefly (sit fly), good level and proximity work, break at 5K track until 4K opening : very hard note to myself : go back to belly before opening !!! -------------------------------------------------- I never used 2 rocks to start a fire ... this is called evolution !

well ... i guess we all have our «moments of glory» my best one being as following : last year we took off me and an instructor to finalize my RW anotation, nothing that i haven't done before ... simple exit, some simple moves, docks etc ... from the exit (13500) to the break off altitude (5000) i wasn't able to get stable on my belly, i was just rolling forward, rolling backward etc ... at 5000 suddenly i waved at the instructor (who was crying of laugh ...) and .... did a perfect track the main error here was : the instructor got his cam «ON» and i was suddenly part of the «movie of the year» that our DZ build each end of season but today it's one of my bests «souvenirs»

well, if line twists are quite often just annoying (i speak for reasonably large chute here) they could easily be a big problem too so your best guess until you reach enough stability on deployement is to deploy high to be able to de-twist your main. too low means probably that you'll have to cutaway as you may not have the time to kick enough to detwist your lines. personal experience here : once deploying at 5000 i did have my lines twisted from my neck up to the main ... as i was high enough i finally succeeded to detwist the whole stuff but it took me 1900' in the meantime i was looking anxiously at my altimeter, waiting to be at 2500 to cutaway if needed ... this happened to me with my ZPX 185 and was totally my fault ! good question anyway ! -------------------------------------------------- I never used 2 rocks to start a fire ... this is called evolution !

i don't think that it is arrogance, personally i feel very proud of my sport (even if with 157 jumps i consider myself a total newbie in it) but even if i'm proud i don't feel any superiority over anybody because i'm jumping out of a plane. IMHO i think that feeling «superior» will surely cause the sport to remind one that he is just as «breakable» than anybody else ... -------------------------------------------------- I never used 2 rocks to start a fire ... this is called evolution !

Yves, unfortunately i guess it's a long time you've not been to atmosphair .... while you certainly are right about Peter (probably the best i've seen in the air in terms of willingness ... INCREDIBLE !) ... the global ambiance is not there anymore, a tandem passenger got a «2 for 1» on beer when regular members have ... well ... nothing else than a bill to pay at the end of the day ! not even speaking of the «old days» where the bonfire was a place to be ... nowadays we're even satisfied when there's actually a bonfire :( nowadays, regulars are just taking «dates» with their mates over the phones for jump sessions and soon get away once the jumps are done ... the business is now the rule and tandem passengers are buying their tickets just as the'd do on a roller coaster .... there's no grunt here ... just a constatation of what have become your «home DZ» today ... cheers ! -------------------------------------------------- I never used 2 rocks to start a fire ... this is called evolution !

hi all ! just to know : which are your best jumps ? the ones asking for a great work or the improvised ones with the best pleasure ? (you know : i mean those kind of jumps where you don't expect much and which turn into jewels ...) just curious to know ! on my side, my best came out each time the jump was not so planified (2 or 3 max freefly) with no special objectives to reach ... cheers ! -------------------------------------------------- I never used 2 rocks to start a fire ... this is called evolution !

hi guys ! very interesting ! as a vigil owner i can't wait to read why they popped ! does anybody know what happened with the pro-tracks datas on those loads ? i guess that the protracks don't like too much the variations in pressurization. cheers ! -------------------------------------------------- I never used 2 rocks to start a fire ... this is called evolution !

Many thanks for the answers guys ! so my next rig (Icon) will be «Cordura made» :) -------------------------------------------------- I never used 2 rocks to start a fire ... this is called evolution !
