  1. While there may be tension on the pin the loop is still too long. If you look closely you can even make out the binding tape at the edge of the bottom flap. If you need your loop to be so long that you can not close your container correctly you should really think about the size canopy you are trying to stuff in there. If you need such a large canopy for your skill level then you should consider jumping a rig that it will actually fit into.
  2. A PD Navigator is another possible choice.
  3. I would also bet that the 260ft canopy is F1-11 and the 190ft is made of ZP which will be just as big of a change for you as the wingloading.
  4. I would think it very un-likely that you would break yourself due to booties and you can easily pull them up while under canopy which I would recommend due to novices having a habit of tearing up their booties on rough landings. They do feel a little different to fly with initially but are very easy to get a handle of and anything other than your mechanic suit is going to feel a little different anyway, so if you were to buy a rel suit I would have booties added straight up. On a side note you should also consider a heavy fabric like what is on the mechanic suit as it will help you heavier guys to slow your fall rates with out much effort or ridiculous amounts of bagginess.
  5. It could be a variety of things. Most likely the fact that some canopies simply out perform others regardless of wingloading. I also believe a lot of people fool themselves in to seeing the results that they are expecting regardless of what is going on.
  6. I too still feel the loss. Still missing you my friend.
  7. Spectra also provides a lot less friction than other materials which is why they are so popular for closing loops. I believe that a Vectran closing loop would be less than desirable due to the increased friction on the closing pin.
  8. I think the key is to simply bring it to the persons attention and leave it up to them. A lot of people start to get nervous when they feel people fiddling with their gear with out an explanation. Maybe in the future you will find people that are comfortable with that but I believe they will be few and far between. However it is great that you were so aware of what was going on and think that more jumpers need to start looking after each other like this.
  9. I'm not sure exactly what you are basing this on but I know of many BASE jumpers that do use AADs and actually advocate their use. Sorry for the thread drift.
  10. I have noticed that every one that mentions this problem seems to be talking about the Sigma 370's. I have just bought a brand new Sigma 340. Should I be expecting a similar problem as well?
  11. If you think that's bad you should try entering the US.
  12. I was just saying that if you were stuck at a DZ where they jump HOPs then there are ways to reduce some of the problems they have with turbulence.
  13. You can avoid a lot of the turbulence on landing if you turn them in to land instead of a straight in approach or stall surging. I don't mean hooking in, just a gentle continuous carve to cut through turbulence and build up some speed for flaring. I have also heard rumors that the new HOPS are trimmed differently to fix some of the problems.
  14. I would stick with the Sigma 370 over the HOP due to the fact that the HOP gets funky when there is turbulence around, especially when it is lightly loaded. If you want something with less toggle pressure you should try the Sigma 340, I just bought one and love it. It easily turns as lightly as the HOP but I don't have to worry about the turbulence like when I'm on the HOP.
  15. Hey All, I am trying to contact Unitied Parachute Technologies to order a Sigma but can't seem to get any of the emails on their web page to work. If some one in the know could help me out it would be greatly appreciated. Take care, Chris.

    Brian Kullman

Hey man, I have finally accepted the fact that I have lost your email some place. So PM me or get fucked. Chris.
  17. I believe it is because you would need a significantly larger F111 PC to provide the same amount of snatch force as a ZP PC. If you need a 32inch f111 PC for skydiving to do the same job as a 24inch ZP PC that is a size increase of about 30%. Now a commonly used BASE PC is a 48inch ZP PC so if you wanted the same amount of snatch force from an F111 PC it would have to be much larger than that. But then if your PC is too large then you start running into trouble with the amount of time it takes your PC to inflate and start to do its job. So people use ZP PCs in BASE because they provide more snatch force for less size. Note that some people do use F111 PCs for terminal delays.
  18. I agree with you here. I would buy (and did) a vented canopy first time around so that I wouldn´t need to replace it later on.

  20. Some people will hold their passengers head against their shoulder on opening to prevent any sort of shock.
  21. Thats cool man. It just seems like a mistake that is already on the list to me.
  22. I ment that as he had just updated it, it may be a good time for people to re read it.
  23. So I may be knew to the game, but it seems to me that if Nick can take the time to update the LIST then it may be a good time for every one here to take the time to have a look and become familiar with it again.

    Prague

Is there any jumping going on in Prague. I will be there next week and am hoping to do some jumps. But whether there is jumping or not it would still be cool to meet any locals in the area. If any one is interested PM me. Take care, Chris.
  25. Cheers mate, I couldn't have said it better myself.
