  1. specifically, what is it about the airkix design that makes it easier (than bedford I assume) to learn stability and what is the problem with learning fall rate control at bedford? I believe its this plus a bit more ross... Learning how to fall straight down and at your slowest fall rate.... its basicly the very basics of body flight for flying in a tunnel.... its the building block for learning range of motion....range of motion simply being body flight control.... so to learn the basics in a slower tunnel.... the basics of any posistion... just observations.... ;) Hi Dawn I didn't mean to imply that learning fall rate control was harder at Bedford - far from it. Rather, imo the control required at bedford is potentially more than at Airkix. Airkix tunnel like all skyventure tunnels, spills more and more air out the mesh sides the higher up the tunnel you go. Bedfords tunnel doesn't. If your fall rate control is lacking, you'll reach a point where as you assend in the Airkix tunnel you'll naturally 'level out' as lift is reduced by the spilling air, and "hey - I'm stable". In bedford, applying the same technique will have you on the top net. So learn in Airkix gives you the skills to fly upside down. Learning in Bedford gives you that too, but you'll learn more efficient fallrate control too (albeit you'll be carving sooner at Airkix because of the tunnel helping the fallrate control) I hope that makes sense. I'm far from an authority on the subject with so few hours in the tunnel (6.5), but I do take an interest in the 'physics' of tunnel flight and want to learn more. If your opinion differs from this, I'd be (genuinely) interested in hearing your point of view
  2. Just got these airwalks,... super cheap and have a velcro strip at the top where you tie em up... simply velcro the whole knot/bow down and fly fly fly... nice! :) Are we not yet ready to live life for life and not for death?
  3. I think that would be a great idea... the problem is that every tunnel is its own type... walls make a huge difference,... not only with the speed of the air but the dangerous situations they can be a backdrop for... and as for Dawn... Im soooo sorry you were not able to fly with your friend here at Perris... please know though that something about the session made the instructor uncomfortable so he shut it down (whether it was you and your friend or the instructor)... from the sound of it... if wind speeds were variable,... it was because a flyer in the middle of our tunnel gives little room to sitfly around them while staying off the walls or from right in front of the doors... doing so burbles the fans and causes the whole tunnel to slow down. in any case... please come back some time and fly with us... Id love to change your mind about Perris... we really do know how to have fun,... really ;) Just come ready to fly with a smile on your face!!! 6. The nice thing is, we've learned (including those of ust that are not AFF-I's) to work with AFF-I's who wish to bring their students, to share the responsibility of instructing people to the point where they and begin to get the benifit of having their instructor in the air with them. Hey JP... :) Im one of those that is not an AFF-I... I feel my job as an instructor while working with an AFF-I is to make the absolute most out of the session by keeping the student on heading and not wasting time... some students have very great body positions right out the door and some don't... for those who don't, I like to fix it while I'm already in such a great position to do so... and then turn them toward the AFF-I. The nets a great tool too. "Rocky" Are we not yet ready to live life for life and not for death?
  7. Hey love,... im a relatively new tunnel instructor here at Perris skyventure (7 months now). Just wandering what a PMTS delagate is and how it's related to the tunnel ;) Cant wait to fly out there. See you then. Are we not yet ready to live life for life and not for death?
  8. ROAD TRIP!!! Welcome home loves... you two around during the chicks boogie sometime around nationals??? Are we not yet ready to live life for life and not for death?
  9. Because of the adjustable wind speed,.... the only time youll NEED wieghts in the tunnel is if your in there with someone else who falls faster obviously....but if you think that youll be flying with wieghts anyway in the sky, and want to get used to waering them.... go right ahead
