Thanks everybody for the warm greetings and humorous advice. The problem of no money will go away. I expect that after our tax refund check arrives this spring, I will quickly make my way to the nearest DZ and go through the AFF course and get my A license. Also, waiting until spring comes will give my husband time to get over his shock that the club where I did my tandem recently totalled their Cessna in an emergency landing right after take-off. (Luckily, nobody was seriously hurt in that incident. WHEW!)
As for the whuffo husband, I should give him a bit more credit. He's not really a whuffo. He DOES understand why I would love to FLY! He just doesn't want to do it himself. Too bad. He doesn't know what he is missing.
Truth is, he is the one who gave me the gift certificate for the tandem jump as a birthday present. See, my parents live really close to a DZ, and all summer long, whenever we go to visit them, we'd hear the plane buzzing overhead and see the little dots falling from the sky. And I'd say, "Someday, I am going to do that." And my husband would say, "No way." Then, on my last birthday, he surprised me with a gift certificate for a tandem jump.
Divorce him? No way. I've got him too well-trained to do my bidding. ;-)
Happy jumpin' everybody,
