Hang in there Keith, I quit 35 days ago am happy I did. Haven't had a cigarette since. I was miserable at first, but it gets much better. The thing that killed me was driving. I always smoked when I drove so it kinda sucked to be in my car without a cigarette. I felt like I needed something. I used sunflower seeds for a while to help with that and it worked well. The really bad cravings will go away after a week. Just fight them off until then. And be careful when drinking! Its the biggest test for me to go to the bars here at school where everyone and their brother is smoking. Especially after you get a few beers in you. But all in all I have saved almost $100 bucks at this point and feel better. Good luck! Bret

Yeah I went to the triple crown show at all state, but Oakenfold wasn't worth my time, he played records that I retired a long long time ago (although he didn't bouch it as bad as I was counting on him to like all the other times I have seen him) Sasha and Digweed were in top form as all the other times I have seen them. But a 2 hour set for them is just warming up. The Chems absolutely rocked. Last time I saw them Fatboy opened up for them and they were great then too. Bret

Their new album "come with us" is awesome. saw them live saturday night and my ears are still ringing......sweet!!! try to download the video for the song "star guitar". it is an amazing video with some of the coolest use of computer graphics and equalizer effects I have ever seen, not to mention a great song. Dan, "takes into consideration line dimension change (canopy will break in going into better trim not worse)." Does this mean that the performance of a new cobalt will increase after jumping it for a while? What should change as far as performance is concerned? Will openings be affected as the canopy is broken in? Will a heavier wingloading speed up this process? Just curious to know, by the way I am very impressed with mine, about 50 on it now and loving it. Bret

Thanks for the answers all. What about mains? Do test jumpers go up with new canopies and say, well this doesn't fly or land well at anything more than this weight? Or is it more of a educated guess. Why does Precision Aerodynamics make such a strong point about its Xoas 21 that the max weight is not to be exceeded. "Maximum Operating Weight Limitations for the Xaos-21 are absolute. Do not exceed these limitations under any circumstances. Severe bodily injury or death may result in exceeding these limitations of experience and/or wingloading." Is the max weight listing for main canopies more of a performance issue or a safety (canopy cannot handle the load) issue? Bret

How do manufacturers figure out their max suspended weight for the canopies? Is this an actual weight that they have seen failure at, or a percentage of a weight that will cause failure, etc? Especially in the case of reserves. Not that I am that close to any max weights I am just curious to know how it is done. Bret

These stories are great! Jumppilot01 is my roomate here at Purdue, and he is right, our other roomate is a piece of crap. I swear i do not look forward to coming home ever, unless i know my other roomate is here or someone else is chillin at our place. The only time i see the other one is when me or Adam are getting bitched at about someting, which is often. Just the other day it was about the dishes (only the 200th time this year he has bitched about it, when he is the only one who actually cooks, i.e. uses dishes, and for himself only) His pile girlfriend is even worse. She is useless, sits in his room all day and night, never leaves, graduated last year and has not even thought about looking for a job, doesn't pay rent, and has the nerve to bitch about stuff in the apartment. We are having a huge all campus "tool roomate moving out party" the last weekend in April at our place, it will rock like all the other bashes we have had, that then had to get bitched to for weeks about stuff being not exactly where it is supposed to be. Its a college guys apartment for christs sake! Even though he doesn;t mind letting us pay for the kegs and then drinking (along with his few friends that can stand him) our beer for free. He also is a certified factologist, just ask him about anything and he is the source for any information on it. and he will tell you for hours, you may think i am kidding, i am not, hours! even though we obviously are not paying one ounce of attention. oh well i have vented. this isn;t as good as the others, but i needed to let that one off! Phree, There is no longer a 100 jump minimum to be a jumpmaster since there is no longer such a rating (jumpmaster) To put a student out on a static line you must be a static line instructor, which requires a D. It is the coach who may have 100 jumps. The coach may teach the non method specific areas of the FJC under the supervision of an instructor, and a instructor must teach the rest. Our DZ has been very much affected by this and we have been trying to stay updated. Bret

My Cobalt 120 is a little loose in my wings W8. It should have been a W7. Sounds like exact same thing as zyzko, have the loop very tight, but there is a little room in the corners. Atair emailed me when I was buying it and said it packed up the same as a stiletto 120. I have never put a stiletto 120 in my container, but have jumped and packed one, looked about the same. I also agree that they are very easy to pack compared to a brand new stiletto. Bret

So getting some big SLR (see been doing my homework :) wouldn't be needed? I am really clueless on this. This elph can take good shots at the right distances? Do you need any special lenses to shoot tandems? Wide angle, etc.? What type of film does it use? Are there any good websites to go to for a beginning photographer, not necessarily skydiving? This would be mainly for shooting some stuff of my freefly friends, but would want it to be good enough to do tandem stills when I end up getting the whole setup. Plan as of now is to get the PC-9, but am totally confused with the stills camera purchase. Putting the purpose for it in the original post would have been smart huh? Thanks, Bret

Am beginning to look into and do my homework on camera flying and there is a ton of info around here about DV and what types of camcorders are nice to fly but there are no mentions of what stills cameras are nice. Would like any info on this, any websites to point me to, etc. Thanks, Bret
