Hello all, newbie to this forum. Am thinking of starting to fly the camera. Was leaning towards a PC-9, but saw this JVC camera for 600 bucks. I'd be saving almost 400 bucks going with this as opposed to the PC-9. I will be freeflying with it, and filming tandems eventually. I know Sony's are better quality, but is there anything wrong with using the JVC's? Fire away people, I want to hear your opinions and experiences. Thanks, Bret

All this talk still gets back to my original statement, that my FX is way way off when compared to Pro Tracks. A couple of my friends have them (ProTracks) mounted the same way, and we will always have completely (and I mean completely) different logs. I also am curious why my pull altitude is always about 1000' or more off. This made me nervous, seeing logs of pulls repeatedly at 1300, and thought maybe my Alti was off. The funny thing is, its alerts are at the corresponding altitude i read off my altimeter. the alti has been calibrated, plus just being in group dives and talking to other people ("I pulled at 2500 and you were above me") has since confirmed that it is the FX that is off. I am going to try turning the unit in other attitudes and see which way is the most accurate. I would put it inside and try that, but the gath fits too snug. Bret

I jump with a Skytronic FX I got cheap. It does a good job as an audible, but the numbers it gives you for airspeed, and altitude (pull altitude) are always way way off. I have jumped with people using protracks and our numbers are not even in the same ballpark, even though we match fallrates. I have it attached outside of my gath, so it is getting clean air. Because of the accuracy problems, it is basically an audible with max altitude, and it logs the jumps. Will go with protrack when I get some coin.

Thanks all, for your info, the manufacturer said the Cobalt packs up a little bigger than the Stiletto.

I am having a new rig built (who hoo!) and am putting a new Cobalt 120 in it. Anyone happen to know the pack volume of it? Thanks.

Dave - That was pretty good. I actually laughed while at work! Amazing. Hey by the way, since this post is long as hell already, who all is going to Quincy still? Getting there wednesday night, would like to meet some of the dz.com crew. Blue Skies

Just to reiterate the main subject matter thrown down earlier - the comment was made that a belly flyer could catch a freeflyer even after the freeflyer exited, and dock on them. And I would just like to say - let's see it. Its simple physics people, no one on their belly can approach the speeds that a freeflyer can hit going head down. Go ahead and say that a good belly flyer (like the last person on a 100 way) can do it. I will say a average freeflyer trying to go fast can go faster. The hybrid dives you were talking about are choreographed and the freeflyers are trying to go as slow as possible, and the belly flyers are trying to go as fast as possible. Also, the sit flyers are wearing sit suits which slow thier speed considerably from a normal sit position. What I am saying is that these hybrid dives could not be done at average freefly speeds. The head downers in them are excellent flyers and know how to go slow. I freefly, and am not into the whole freefly bash belly flyers thing and vice versa, but don't try to tell me someone can get out after me and belly fly down to me if I am head down. Blue Skies ps - freeflir29, you going to Quincy? We can show them there if they would like eh?

There was an incident in Connersville, IN this year in which a student died after a no pull on a 10-second delay. The FXC was turned on and did fire, but it apparently either fired way too low or the reserve pilot chute stayed in the burble of the student.

I'm gonna have to agree with freeflir29 on this one. There is no way a belly flyer could catch someone head down after they exit. I wanna put a pro-track on a belly flyer and see them do 200mph on their belly. But a thought comes to mind - if a girl could arch so hard that she could go that fast, will someone introduce me to her? Think of the possibilities here guys... Blue Skies

I am going out to Montrose, Colorado this wed (7/18) through sunday (7/22) and was wondering if there are any DZ's nearby. It is about an hour south east of Grand Junction. I looked in the directory and saw the ones near Denver but that would be too far. Anyone know of any?

Just wanted to hear a few reviews of some jumpsuits. Looking for a new freefly suit, mine is seriously dying, and wanted to hear what everyone thought of their own experiences with different companies first, also does anyone have a Freedom means Choice suit? Never seen one before in person but came across their site and they looked pretty nice.
